They take a flat up front fee from the proceeds, mine was $3,000 and then the sales rep started to explain to me it's all used and therefore deeply discounted. (duh) However, I have had 2 of these before that Ann Dees did and they got top dollar for my prents' things, so I was surprised at the comments since everything in my house is expensive and slightly "used" rather than "lived in" used. We ended up giving everything we would have sold away to non profits and will use the deductions on our tax return, which was a better deal for us.
