Ask the Community - Relief Windows

Do you replace just the broken glass?

No ma'am, we specialize in full replacements. However, we typically recommend Big River Glass for glass repair. Thanks!

Window World's 3 point customer service pledge is:…read more 1. Tell the customer anything to make the sell! 2. Blame the customer when they indicate they are experiencing mold and window seal problems! 3. Tell the customer his problem is not mold, but then advise the customer to purchase a mold cleaner! I previously had a great experience with Window World in New Jersey, this is why I decided to purchase 20 windows from them in Baton Rouge. I have pictures of the mold, showed it to them and they are going to tell me my windows are dirty, when I'm commonly known by family and friends to be a neat (clean) freak!, To their credit, they are replacing 1 of the windows with seal failure, but it is going to take them ~ 4 to 6 weeks. However, they continue to treat me as an idiot about the mold problems (when I've been around residential construction and maintenance all my life, and) when all I want is for them to do is to provide the customer service as stated they would when I purchased these windows.

We obtained quotes from 4 different companies and had all of them include replacement of the rotted sills with a non-rot composite material. This was written into our contract with Window World, and we paid extra for it. Monday, Sept 19th, the day of installation, the site crew had no knowledge of or experience in replacing sills. The crew leader told us that Window World does not do that because that is carpentry work. We said no, it is right written here in our contract. We argue back and forth. Finally, the crew leader gets the project manager, Brandon on the phone. Brandon reiterated that Window World does not replace sills and especially not for the price we were charged. We reach out to Larry Foreman, our sales rep who said yes they do; in fact, they do it all the time, but that there was nothing he could do to help us as he is not allowed to engage any further at this point. So basically, the sales rep who pitched us on the stellar craftsmanship and installation of Window World was utterly useless once he got his cut and now won't even make a phone call on our behalf. Nice. The area Quality Assurance guy named Josh happened to stop by to look at the windows and affirmed that yes, they are supposed to replace the rotted sills with non-rot composite material, and that Window World does this all the time. Of the 12 windows being replaced, only the 4 in the front needed the sills replaced. Two of those 4 had already been ripped out and replaced, above rotted sills, prior to knowing whether the sills would be done. It was then determined that another crew would have to return on Friday, Sept. 23rd, four days later, to uninstall those 2 windows, replace the 4 sills, reinstall the 2 windows while also replacing the other 2 remaining windows. On Friday, Sept. 23rd, a different crew showed up having no knowledge of the sills and were unprepared to complete the project. We instructed them that if they were not prepared to complete everything in our contract, don't even start. We were then rescheduled again for Saturday, Sept. 24th. The crew texted us pictures of the composite material from Home Depot for approval. Based on the sales rep's pitch and your own Quality Assurance guy's affirmation that Window World replaces sills "all the time," how does Window World continue to send us crews that do not know the process or materials? They show up with the thinnest PVC planks, NOT composite wood. Because it is so thin, the crew did not know what to do because their manager had instructed them that they could not double it up or glue planks together. To rid ourselves of this disastrous Window World experience and their unqualified installation crews, we acquiesced to using treated lumber for the sills. This was not what we were promised by our sales rep. This is not what we asked for. This is not what the QA guy told us we should be expected. But this is unfortunately what we ended up with. Disgusted. The window installation was sub-par. We spent about 16-18 hours over the next week cleaning up the mess they left behind. Plastic shards and shavings are all over the place. Black smudged fingerprints are all over the white interiors. There are streaks of glue all over the glass. There are massive heaps of messy black caulk all over the place. In having to uninstall and reinstall 2 of our front windows, they damaged the surrounding molding and inside sills, which need to be patched or replaced now. All 12 windows are very sloppy looking up close, nothing like the bright clean window we were shown by your sales rep. Your installers must have spent a fortune on caulk based on all the tubes they had to use to cover up their mistakes. It looks atrocious! We have at least a dozen pictures to demonstrate.

Required a 500 dollar deposit and put a temporary patch on the roof. Took all of 5 minutes. Told me to call them back when the insurance company had come out. I did. The insurance adjuster said the roof didn't need replacing only one area needed patching. 700 dollars was what they quoted. I contacted the company. No word. I texted. They said they would get back with me. Another month went by. Again contacted the company. Crickets. Texted. They said they would get back to me. I had a signed contract. 5 months of waiting. I finally sent them a letter asking them to release me from contract. Or I would be turning it over to my attorney. Hateful letter back. I again asked them to refund my deposit and provide me with an itemized statement for labor and temporary patch. Again nothing. I finally had my attorney send them a letter. I got back a receipt that did paid in full. Now 6 months later I was looking for a company to fix my roof. Most of them I never heard back from. Some of them said I needed a new roof. Only one actually listened and heard what I needed. That Was LA roofers. Man came out. Seen that the adjuster was correct. Quoted me a price and a week later I had the roof fixed. This was my first hurricane. My first dealings with roofing companies. The first one had come highly recommended. The second one I found on my own. I know who to contact next time I need roofing repair. And it will definitely be LA Roofers.
