Dealing with Reliance has been the worst consumer experience I've ever had. We inherited an Air Conditioner rental lease agreement when we purchased our home one year ago, and it has been a nightmare ever since. Their terrible installation ruined our old furnace according to multiple different HVAC techs, and they have taken no responsibility and offered no support. Reliance installed the evaporator coil on the AC rental unit that was incorrect size for the furnace, and installed it so that half the coil was outside the furnace in a makeshift box. This caused freezing of the coil and the water leakage that resulted in rust and ruined our old furnace. This is confirmed by: -The company that replaced the furnace, who said the coil was incorrectly installed originally and did not want to reinstall reliance's coil and risk damaging the new furnace -Verified HVAC professionals on HVAC talk forum, who describe Reliance's coil installation as "ridiculous" and said they would fire any technician who installed a coil like that. Thread can be viewed here: https://hvac-talk.com/vbb/showthread.php?2218431-Different-stories-on-AC-Who-to-believe -Independent HVAC techs we know and spoke to confirmed, and were willing to put it in writing. In addition, Reliance only performed 1 out of 6 annual inspections/maintenance calls they were required to under the contract, which might have caught the damage being done by the "ridiculous" installation. Despite all this, we are not asking reliance to cover the costs of the new furnace. We are only asking that they cancel our contract without penalty (only 1 year left on the contract), and come pick up their AC equipment so that we can purchase a unit and have it properly installed. They refuse to do so, and are asking for $1,100 to reinstall the same coil, which will just cause more damage to our new furnace. Dealing with them is an absolute nightmare. Talk to one person for repairs, a call center in another country to talk about the contract. Multiple cancelled appointments, on hold for hours etc. etc. DO NOT EVER ALLOW RELIANCE to install equipment in your home, DO NOT EVER RENT EQUIPMENT FROM RELIANCE, and DO NOT EVER PURCHASE A HOME WITH EQUIPMENT RENTED FROM RELIANCE.

We completely understood the situation and what it could have turned into. Before arrival we were told the cost and possiblities of the repair. After about 15 minutes, the initial clog was cleared and drainage flow was restored, we tested this with flushed toilets and taps running. We assumed that the problem was solved, and we would obviously monitor over the next few days. On June 5th (10days later) our drain line backed up again, luckily after some research and understanding of the potential issues, this time I chose to run to HD and rent their auger, and drain camera for a fraction of the price. After running the auger for roughly 10 to 20 minutes, I was able to pull back and completely clear our entire pipe of roughly 5lbs of roots. After running the camera, I was able to confirm the entire length of the drain was clear of debris. For the cost of the repair (yes it was after 5 on a Friday), we expected that the entire drainage line would have been auguerd, but clearly from what I removed from the drain that was not the case. The company also charges extra to run the camera down after to inspect, but also did not have one available to do so, and as of today (June 6th) still does not have one available. Knowing what I know now, they seem to be a renovation, new installation company and NOT a repair, troubleshoot or emergency call company. It's really to bad that even after a follow up call, there was no apology or partial refund on the service. If I asked a carpenter to hang a cabinet on the wall, basic service expectations would require him to find a stud and/or anchor it to prevent it from falling down, not just hang it and hope it holds. What Harb did was essentially unfinished, yes the drainage flowed, but there was still a lingering problem, which could have been fixed and removed if the entire length of the pipe was augered, understand your issue and be prepared to follow up and possibly have to fix it yourself.
