I am older and not feeling well that week. I should have got more estimates. I thought the whole soil stack had to be changed and digging required, for it was old cast iron. The bill was $3008 for two visits each lasting about 1 1/2 hour, the plumber came with some other guy second time after I said something about being illegal to work alone.They just changed the elbow to the flange. To be fair, add 2 hours travel. Total 5 hours. That is over $723 an hour. All the other guy did was to vacuum the floor with my shop vac and watch for leaks during final inspection. The final bill also added $607 to reset the toilet and $43 for estimating cost. With tax, that will be around $4133+ for a bad floor gasket. Are you scared by now ??

They were working with a company called Contractor Pass to do the plumbing work on my bathroom in October 25 2023. I was quoted $600+tax ($678) Sent payment of $678 to Josh via e-transfer per his request on October 25 2023. On November 8th 2023 they attempted to send an invoice of $644.67 to my building's property manager. I showed Josh the email chain, and he forwarded it to Laura asking her to remove the invoice which she confirmed. No one knows where this lower amount came from. Feb 06 2025, 2 years later, some guy named Kris from YYZ calls asking for money. I forward the email chain to him and he apologized. April 30 2025, a woman who claimed to be from YYZ called asking for money, claiming that a NEW invoice was generated in February 2025. I explained I have not hired YYZ in 2 years and to please figure out their record keeping issue. They apologized again and seemingly left me alone. Aug 19 2026, the company has sent a brand new invoice for $3866.30 demanding payment from an address I've never been when I haven't used them. I will see what the best options are for reporting this as fraud. I highly recommend not using this company and to keep all commmunications in writing. I do not recommend hiring this company. She proactively told me what to expect with the service call and re the timing, and followed-up with emails that provided photos of the technicians who would be visiting (great safety precaution). Zahir and La Aung were my plumbers and I felt comforted by Zahir's friendly and thorough explanation of how they would undertake the job. He promptly provided me with a quote before starting the necessary work. The job seemed reasonably priced, particularly since it was in a very awkwardly cramped space (with a pipe leak behind the HVAC). They made no complaints at all about the awkward space and conducted their work efficiently. Payment was a breeze with their mobile tablet (that accepts credit card payments) and he had me check my satisfaction with their work before processing payment. Zahir also pointed out some redundant piping that he discovered that could be addressed prophylactically to prevent similar issues in the future and the office provided me a written quote for that work. Hoerner also agreed they would come back again (at no charge) if there were any issues with the work done today. Derek from their Heating (HVAC) team also came by to help with some questions I had about the gas lines, and even helped me restart the pilot light in my gas fireplace. Super friendly. I told them to keep the $79 consultation fee and that I would find another service provider. At that point, the technician's tone noticeably shifted. After a brief call to his manager, he came back with a revised quote of $449 + HST--almost half the original price. It was an obvious and troubling sign of intentional overcharging. Since I had already paid the $79, I agreed to proceed. The final bill came to $518, which was at the high end of the acceptable range, but within reason. The technician completed the job in under two hours and the work itself was well done. My issue is not with the workmanship, but with the company's pricing tactics.
