I would advise anyone considering hiring Reliable Paving of Johnson, TN to review the BBB reviews of the company. It is an indication of past problems with their work that was borne out by our experience with them. We hired them to repave a steep driveway with a shallow grade at the bottom that directs water around the house. Despite describing the challenge of the drainage beforehand and indicating to the contractor that part of the driveway was not graded corrrectly when they finished (and the contractor's assertion that it was) we experienced repeated flooding of an adjacent carport starting the next day during a heavy rainfall. Fortunately, because we had Reliable include on the invoice a statement that the grade would be fixed if the driveway did not drain correctly (and because we stopped payment on the check for the work as soon as the drainage problem arose) they regraded the driveway within a week to redirect the drainage away from the carport but, as subsequent rainfalls proved, the carport still occasionally flooded in very heavy rainfalls and we had to install a roof gutter to correct the remaining problem. Added to this the ragged edges of asphalt installation along the driveway (compared to other driveways in the area) and the argumentative attitude of the contractor and overall it was not a good experience. And FYI, mail sent to their address listed in Johnson, TN was returned as undeliverable. read more

This company should be shut down. We had them do our driveway a little over a year ago and they did a horrible job. Joe and his son are not trustworthy. We made several attempts to contact them to correct their mistakes with no responses. This year the driveway started cracking and sinking. We had another company come out and they had to tear up and replace a portion of the driveway because it was done wrong. More people need to let others know their name maybe Reliable but they are a fraudulent company taking advantage and lots of money from innocent customers. read more

Called Reliable Paving and was quoted $14500 for a job, we thought was a good deal and had the work done. We wanted an additional sealcoat on the preexisting part of driveway, but when they called on a Tuesday and said they wanted to come out to seal during raining periods we asked if they could come anytime later in the week as we weren't comfortable with this and they agreed to come out that Thursday but prep that day and never showed up Teusday to prep never showed up Thursday and we kept trying to find out when they would be coming out but they could never confirm with us, then finally said they'd come Friday and never showed up so we canceled the service late Friday evening. Then when we called that next Monday (we found the asphalt was showing problem areas) we were told that "you were the ones that kept rescheduling and then cancelled on us" the owner said that our marks in the asphalt was from power steering turning but the new asphalt also started to get settling/rippling marks, soft/squishy spots and bubbles/cracks only two weeks after it was paved, which we also addressed. We tried getting him or someone to come out to take a look and he said they'd come out Saturday at the latest but never did. We've sent texts but we have been left on read. It has been an overall frustrating ordeal and honestly we wish we had been more cautious when choosing paving companies. read more

I never lead negative reviews, but my family moved from CA to TN and needed to have a large driveway asphalted, we had received a quote of $18500 from Reliable, while we were deciding we received a call that they had finished a local commercial project and could do our with Commercial Grade Asphalt for$2000 additional, we decided to go with Reliable, when the asphalt was completed it looked beautiful, however a day or so later we noticed some disintegration and damage, we send pictures, and sent via Text, Email and then called. We received a call and was told that was our power steering on our car. After that call we attempted several times to have them visit and offer solutions, finally we had to hire another company to slurry coat the driveway 3 times to repair the damage, at additional costs to us. When the other company visited the advised us that Commercial Asphalt does not tear and disentigrate like that, so we did not receive the upgraded Commercial Asphalt like we paid for, as we were new to the area we now feel we were taken advantage of, the biggest disappointment was they would not offer any solutions, call backs or visit, the just ignored us. Just be aware, especially of you are new to the area. read more

WARNING! Very poor worksmanship. My parents had to pay someone to fix the relatively small driveway that they paid $8000 for because he quit answering the phone. His machinery is not heavy enough to pack the asphalt according to the estimates we got to fix it and it was poor quality asphalt. He is taking advantage of the elderly. He blamed them for the gaps in the pavement. He also paved their neighbor's driveway and it is crumbling. Very unhappy and will not recommend! read more

When the asphalt got here they began, so i sat out on my porch and watched. They were very professional and knew what they was doing. To make a long story short, the driveway looked great. I even asked if they could make me a little walkway, no oroblem and they did, even though i asked after they was finished driveway. Buyer Beware! Joe Callahan of Reliable Paving Services was contracted to pave our driveway from 09/19 - 09/21/2018. The gravel driveway of some years had been previously graded to allow water to drain properly into two installed drains. In the process of Joe placing a base aggregate down prior to the asphalt installation, his crew over compacted an area that resulted in a low area as pointed out to him by his crew chief. Joe indicated the asphalt would correct. After the asphalt was placed and compacted, concerns were raised again about the potential for poor drainage from this area. Joe asked me to wait for the first rain to decide. No water test was performed by Joe. He promised repeatedly that he would return within the week if needed. His crew also installed the curbing in a crooked fashion and he also proposed to return within the week to correct regardless of the drainage issue. The first rain revealed a drainage issue with significant water pooling which a water test I performed confirmed. Daily phone calls and texts over the next month and repeatedly since then has not resulted in him returning to correct these two issues. Not reliable! read more
