I can't speak to the quality of Reliable's work, as my neighbors and I ultimately chose not to use them after some very unprofessional behavior.
Take our money, please.....
I received two estimates from Reliable--one for each of the two fencelines in need of repair: the North and South sides, each shared with a different neighbor who would split the cost. After consideration and concerns with the company's professionalism (explained later) we decided to move forward with only the South fenceline repairs and pay with credit card instead of cash. The owner, Kenneth Holthaus, agreed to complete this work, but the estimate needed to be raised to $661 because my neighbor and I opted to pay by credit card (out of caution) instead of cash for the 50% downpayment
However, the next day, instead of providing a revised estimate, Reliable's scheduler, Jesse Leahy, informed us that they would no longer do the work because the total cost was below their minimum of $1,500, because we had declined the $2,500 repair on the North fenceline. Needless to say, I never heard mention of a $1500 minimum until then. This was frustrating, as the owner had agreed to the job just the day before and it didn't bother him either that the $2.5k job was declined. Due to this and other issues detailed below--we decided not to use Reliable at all and hired a different contractor for both fencelines.
...and we tried to give you more money earlier....
The decision to reject Reliable's proposal for the North fence stemmed from their poor handling of our initial downpayment attempt. On a Saturday, my neighbors and I were scheduled to hand over the onsite 50% down payment of $1600+ cash in person to Reliable between 3 and 4 pm for work on both the North and South. Reliable never showed up. They did call to delay the pickup time to around 6 pm, but after missing that new time as well, with no further follow up.
So, my neighbors and I ended up spending our Saturday afternoon and evening waiting at home with wads of cash in hand, ready to pay Reliable some serious money. Because of this unprofessional handling, my neighbor and I--who shared the North side fence--chose not to proceed with Reliable for the $2,500 fence job. Meanwhile, my other neighbor, who shared the South side fence, was still willing to move forward with the smaller $661 repair, but as mentioned earlier, Reliable later refused to do the work, citing some minimum pricing policy despite the owner agreeing to the work the day prior.
Final Verdict
I give Reliable 2 stars, and with that the benefit of the doubt, since we never actually got them to do the work. read more
