This is a wonderful store and I am so glad I found it. I injured my back and found myself nearby and decided to walk in. I am so happy I did. The owner showed me all the products and gave me valuable advice. He even showed me the proper way to sit in my office chair. This bit of advice was life changing and I am all the better for it! I was not even thinking of replacing my bed but after they let me test their beds, I think I will. I have made a few purchases for myself and friends but my mind is set on a new bed now. We went to Relax The Back as someone in our household has been experiencing carpal tunnel issues. While they were getting sorted, me and my elderly friend wandered over to the massage chairs where Patrick loaded us into some high tech massage pods. Once we were locked and loaded he set up a program of massage head to toe. These chairs run 9k-12k (way out of our price range), but we appreciated the experience. We also talked to him about the Tempurpedic mattresses and laid down on some of the beds. I am in the market for a new mattress. Friendly, informative, great service. read more

Shipping headaches, avoid this place. The Chicago-land, franchises of Relax the Back (Northbrook, Naperville, Lincoln Park) is an example of why competition is necessary. I worked with Robyn and Loius buying a $2800 Zero Gravity chair. To minimize delivery challenges of taking a day off to meet a delivery truck, I chose to pick up the chair at the Northbrook store once shipped from MA. Robyn promised a three week delivery time. On a monday one day after three weeks, I called. Robyn assured me later that week. On friday not hearing from Relax the Back I called. Citing Labor Day holiday and how very busy they were and that their shipping company doesnt ship on Saturday nor Labor Day, that it would be here Tuesday after Labor Day. Robyn offered to stay late Tuesday if necessary and further offered that if I hurried to their warehouse in Broadview by 1pm, they would help me load it into my car today. Not possible, its noon, I'm busy and Broadview is across town. Tuesday about 3pm I called. Still hadn't arrived. Loius appologized that they were extremely busy and their family-owned shipping company is challenging. He added that it still might arrive by close of Tuesday. "Might"?! Can't they call? Meanwhile Relax The Back sends me daily emails on how to reduce stress, encouraging me to make haste and capitilize on their fine deals, products and services offering free shipping and other incentives. Excuse me?! I've changed my client schedule three times already based on promises from Robyn to pick up a $3000 chair. My credit card ran through fine - it didn't even occur to me to ensure the product was delivered first. If a company and its franchises can be super busy selling products including taking my money even Saturdays and on Labor Day, shouldn't it be able to deliver and do it so in a timely manner? The chair sat in their Bellwood warehouse for about a week! For a major investment (their words, not mine) listening to their woes of shipping and delivering challenges is not worth empathy nor a justifiable excuse. Does Relax The Back want to hear how many professional massage treatments at $80 an hour it takes to afford one of their chairs? Relax the Back needs to find and pay for high-quality shipping if they want customers to pay for their high-quality and overpriced products. If their shipping company sucks and can't deliver, than Relax The Back sucks and can't deliver. With three stores in this franchise and a customer paying $3000 for a chair, I expected Robyn to make arrangements, maybe even driving to Broadview herself, to keep this customer happy. I called the corporate office in California and spoke with Mandy expressing my dissatisfaction. The very next day Robyn from Relax The Back called telling me my chair had arrived followed with an email that they left a message that their truck broke down. Nope, no message, I saved them all. My wife and I have recently had the need to pay a lot more attention to the ergonomic set up at our home and offices. Robyn and the team at relax the back have been such a helpful resource. They will spend as much time as you need showing you different options (of which the store has many) and talking to you about posture and positioning, which they seem quite knowledgable about (not surprisingly). We always show up with our young kids, who always have a good time at the store. There are some pretty unbelievable massage chairs, which the kids love to use, and the staff are incredibly solicitous to make sure they enjoy themselves while we are shopping. Robyn even paid a personal visit to my office, to help with suggestions about my desk ergonomics and how to better use the chair that she supplied me with. Relax the Back is a great option for people who need to find chairs, desks, mattresses, pillows and other equipment to treat their bodies better. I was recommended by my PT to the store and bought a foam roller as well as a back cushion on twould different trips to the store. Both items were pricey but I use them on the regular. I appreciate the customer service but I really don't like the hrs because I had to rush to the store after work on public transportation. This store was recommended to me by my son's therapist. My son is a multiply handicapped child who has sleep issues. His therapist had bought a specially shaped foam pillow for herself. She thought it would give my son a better night's sleep. Upon walking into the store, I was immediately helped. Louis took time to answer my questions and educate me. I just purchased a Lifeform Executive Office Chair with a removable, adjustable headrest for my office. I also purchased a separate rocking footrest. What amazing products and fantastic service. have purchased chairs from office supply stores and disgarded them after a few years. They were ok from a comfortability standpoint, but not great. Well, the chair I purchased is amazing! Although I just purchased it, I think it will last for years and the warranty on key working parts I think is lifetime. Whether you are having back problems, want to take steps to avoid or minimize back problems or just want a comfortable, chair, recliner, bed, etc. Relax the Back has many options and products. I really appreciated their consultative, no pressure approach. An office chair is very personal. A chair that works for one person may not for another. What I liked about the Lifeform Chair is its comfort and adjustability. I cannot say enough good things about the product and the store. I worked primarily with Robyn and Dave. In 2010 I purchased a zero gravity chair by Human Touch. I was made of "synthetic leather." 6 years later it is completely peeling and looks horrible. It cost $1500 and when I contacted Relax the Back, the told me I should contact the manufacturer. When I did so, and HT would not help much, I asked Relax the Back to contact them on my behalf. They declined to do so and offered to sell me a replacement pillow. They did not stand behind their products or try in any way to help their customer when they had a problem, except to try to sell a new product. I will say, they were never rude and during the initial sale, they were helpful and pleasant then. The Northbrook location is never busy, so I don't understand why the could not simply place a call or email their sale rep at Human Touch to assist a customer. BTW...Human Touch offered to sell me their newer version of the zero gravity chair at a slight discount to "help their customers." Not happy overall.... read more
