You know when you pay a discounted rate because you got a Groupon and you *still* feel like it was a waste? Yeah. I went through that too many times. Then I met Dwayne. As soon as the massage was over, I told him that I was gonna have to include him in my monthly budget. I had finally found a massage therapist that made me feel like every dollar was worth it. If you like a true deep tissue massage, Dwayne is your guy. If you like something else, tell him and he'll adjust to your style. He also really cares about you learning how to relax, which you'd think is critical to massage therapy but it's actually not all that common for the therapists to point out that you're not actually letting go. I'm learning to pay attention to the pressure I feel during the massage and breathing into the body part, thanks to Dwayne. Check him out. You won't regret it. I've done the work of trying a slew of masseuses for you so you don't have to.

First it was that's not our website with a picture of their establishment right on top of the services offered. We booked a deep tissue massage for my husband. Was told over the phone it was $60. I then called back and said I would like to add your 30 min foot massage for myself for $30. She said yes come on in. We get there and everything has changed. Now his massage is $80 and I have to get a full massage with feet included for $70. Please explain this foolery. Go to a reputable SPA. Only went here because it was a last minute decision on a random Sunday. Woodhouse Spa is usually where we frequent and we will NEVER try anything ever again. So disgusted. You found her! For anyone wondering, YES this is the famous…read moremasseuse Linda who used to work down the street ON Magazine. She has now opened an incredible place of her own. I cannot say enough good things about Linda. She has been my masseuse for over 6 years. Now I go to both Linda and Lee (both work here) and both provide amazing massages. You can't go wrong with either. For starters, I should mention that I like intense massage work. I know you can request different pressure levels, but for those who like deep tissue this is your spot. This is a place for a REAL massage. Body work. Do not be fooled by her small stature, she is STRONG. This place is for incredible muscle healing, toxin release, and personally, I like to need an ibuprofen after a massage. Linda has an incredible connection with the human body and she has the ability to feel exactly the areas that need extra work. I can't tell you how many times I have not mentioned something and she picks up on it immediately and heals the area. The space is renovated, clean, full of beautiful light, and an actual relaxing environment. Unlike the place down the street, this place has actual peace inside. NO conversations, NO phone ringing, NO open ceilings and hearing the next room getting their massage (yes, this is a thing) LINDA's massage is beautiful. I love their late hours, because I can go after work. Yes I really have texted at 7:55 to see if they are open and been there at 8:00 pm! I have never just walked in, because I want to make sure they have an opening, but perhaps some do have luck with walk ins. My favorite combination is 30 minute foot massage with an hour body massage, but anything you treat yourself to will be wonderful. Don't be afraid to communicate with them while on the table and let them know what you would like YOUR massage to feel like. It's not offensive to do that, they want you to enjoy your experience. *Linda has a small language barrier when communicating long sentences, but do NOT let that stop you. She easily uses Google translate on her phone and communicates smoothly that way when needed. Her husband helps with communication as well when he is there. * I noticed she has a lot of Google reviews, if you'd like more perspectives.

As for the space, it's interesting. It's in a slightly rundown 1950s era building that is "features an open courtyard, with abundant parking in the back. Haven is through the archway and is the 2nd door on the left. The space is intimate and serene. They've done a nice job in small space. And the rooms are well appointed with everything you might need for your service. They do not have a receptionist so if you're too early for your appointment, you may have to wait in your car. The door is locked when everyone is with clients. 5 stars for Nikki; she is definitely worth my jaunt to the westbank. The space is more like a 3. So averaged out to a 4 stars.

I stumbled across the Peppermint Room and saw the glowing Yelp reviews and immediately booked time with Luz. I booked a massage with face cleansing ritual. And worked through them with a firm but gentle touch. I knew my back was a mess but not how much of a mess until she started working on me. The cleansing ritual was not a typical facial... it was more like a face massage with a cleansing. I highly recommend this. I wasn't sure what to expect but I really enjoyed it. Again Luz was great! BEST MASSAGE IN NEW ORLEANS! I've been going to Tam at Well Body Studio for massages for 5 years…read morenow (Swedish, Therapeutic, and Prenatal), and I count my lucky stars every day that I found her. I cannot recommend her highly enough. I refer all my family and friends to her, and they continue to have nothing but glowing reviews. Here are some things I love about massages with Tam: 1.) Tam eases you into a massage. Instead of diving into the most painful knot or problem area first thing with full force, she reminds you to breathe and guides you toward a place of relaxation first so that your muscles are more primed to receive more focused pressure. I struggle with anxiety and cannot tell you how important it is that I feel relaxed and safe BEFORE i can enjoy or benefit from a massage. Tam knows how to do this. She is thorough, she is deliberate, and she takes her time so that you never feel that anything is being rushed. This allows you to actually relax and get the most out of the therapy. (She also gives very calm and clear guidance on what to do: when I need to roll over, or adjust my positioning, or what to do before the massage starts, or when it is over. This helps you relax further by limiting opportunities for confusion and awkwardness.) 2.) Tam is a magician with pressure. She is strong, but adapts her pressure based on the area of the body and the body's muscle response. She's always keenly attuned to me and how my body is responding, and i've never had to ask her to adjust her pressure. That said, she also verbally checks in with you to make sure that the pressure feels right and encourages you to speak up if anything needs to be changed or addressed. 3.) Tam doesn't talk through your massage. She lets you relax into your bliss and detach. That said, if you WANT to talk or have a question or concern, she is happy to engage in conversation. She lets you guide the talking piece. 4.) Tam is both confident and humble in her work. She is highly skilled, highly perceptive, does a thorough intake before the massage, and quickly makes you feel comfortable. And she ALSO listens to what you need and how your body/situation may be different. She adjusts based on your needs and is open to your thoughts. 5.) I feel SO rejuvenated after a massage with Tam. It's as if i've also been through a meditation, Reiki session, restorative yoga, deep stretch, and blissful sleep all at the same time. Don't waste your money at the fancy spas in town. Trust me, i've been to them all. Tam is the only massage therapist you'll ever need.
