The Peppermint Room has very relaxing and inviting vibes, it also smelled amazing, the waiting room was really comfortable. The massage room was so calming and the table was so nice. The extra room for a pregnant belly and chest was awesome and it was also heated. The price was so reasonable especially considering the quality of service. They also offer so many types of services that I can't wait to try. Upon checking out, I booked an appointment for my husband and I feel like we'll probably end up getting a membership because I will definitely be back. Oh Wow! I knew I had plans in Old Gretna yesterday so I looked to see if I could book a massage before or after my lunch plans and if there was online booking. I stumbled across the Peppermint Room and saw the glowing Yelp reviews and immediately booked time with Luz. I booked a massage with face cleansing ritual. First the massage part... the room was large but also cozy. The electric fireplace was a really nice touch. Luz found all the knots... all of them. And worked through them with a firm but gentle touch. I knew my back was a mess but not how much of a mess until she started working on me. The cleansing ritual was not a typical facial... it was more like a face massage with a cleansing. I highly recommend this. I wasn't sure what to expect but I really enjoyed it. Again Luz was great! The location is a non-descript building which faces Lafayette St but the front door is actually on 18th St and their are reserved parking spots out front...love the painted parking spot detail. The massage gets five stars and kensy has amazing hands and knows how to work the knots out in my body. However I have a problem with how payment is obtained. Nowhere on the website or in the confirmation email does it say that they will send you an invoice to obtain payment nor does it say that gratuity is mandatory. I'm in the service industry so I get that tips are essential however I want it to be my choice to tip that's all. I got the Peppermint Crave, a two hour massage experience which included a full-body massage, foot scrub, scalp massage and hair brushing (that's right, she brushes your hair! Pretty much the MOST relaxing feeling ever!). I highly recommend it! The Peppermint room is located off of the cafe on the first floor of the Swan River Yoga Studio. I made an appointment in December 2022 for an introductory priced massage for $56.25 along with a friend. We went to the location in Gretna at our scheduled times in January. After receiving my massage with Kensy, she asked me to pay. I told her that I paid upon scheduling. She checked the computer and said there was no payment received. Of course, I am confused now. Okay, I am trying to do the right thing and paid again, but I checked my account when I got home. Now, I have paid for this massage twice. I contacted Dee to resolve the issue. Well, that was to NO AVAIL!!! She claimed she was going to reverse it after she offered me a credit and I refused it. I have had to file a bank dispute claim against her. She is steadily lying and telling the bank that it was my user error. How can it be user error when I have my receipt upon scheduling and they charged my on a separate day at point of sale? As a business person, Dee should have immediately credited me for their error but instead she is fighting me for my $56.25. I would NOT ever step foot in this place again nor would I recommend it to others!!! read more

I've only had 3 professional massages in my life, one of them being accidentally from a possible brothel, so while my massage repertoire is rather limited I feel confident that Dee gives the BEST massages ever. Her new space is beautiful and smells like a little peppermint wonderland upon entry. After leaving our appointment I felt like I could hug a stranger on the street (which says a lot because I never want to hug anyone, ever) so thank you Dee, for the bliss and euphoria! So my wife and I decided to celebrate our 2nd anniversary in NOLA. This was her visit to New Orleans and I wanted her to have a great experience. I looked at several spas and noticed The Peppermint seemed to have great reviews and we love boutique/ privately owned businesses. I tried calling the day before and getting my 3:00 and 4:00 moved to a 4:00 and 5:00 because I thought there might be a slight time conflict with one of our tours. The owner told me they were completely booked and informed me that I would need to cancel my 3:00 within 6hrs or lose my money. Upon finding that the tour usually goes long I initially tried canceling 6hrs prior ( our flight was delayed and we didn't arrive until well after midnight) I was so frustrated with the website I canceled both appointments and left a VM for the owner. When I told her I would accept the charge for a service I would not receive and offered constructive criticism on the Website she proceeded to scold me telling me I knew my tour could be a problem yesterday when we spoke ( I had about 30min to call her in between flights) and I should have cancelled. She further mentioned she would not be responsible for regulating adults. I'm sorry when did courtesy become a luxury? As calm as I was during this conversation, it was obvious that this small business owner was ill prepared for criticism and taking offense. I must mention I have payed twice her rate for a missed massage appointment in the past, however, it was the response and the level of respect and courtesy that made me return to that location. I cannot say the same about The Peppermint Room. Unless you are ambivalent to horrible customer service and you are 100% sure you can make the appointment, don't book this place. We refused to let this ruin our anniversary I booked with Spa Atlantis who had availability. After seeing her response I'm so glad I didn't get the massage and allow her negative energy near me or my wife. read more

I had been suffering from stress related pain in my lower back for months. After being prescribed muscles relaxers and pain relievers, not to mention seeing a chiropractor, I still suffered with my back. This weekend, I experienced THE WORST back pain ever!!! I couldn't sleep and fell out the bed while turning during my sleep. I made and appointment with Dee and told her what was going on. She got to work, pointed out things I do subconsciously like tensing up my butt muscles and applied just enough pressure to knock the kinks out. I've been to Dee many times before, a couple years ago, and even referred quite a few people to her. She has strong hands but was late the three or four times I saw her. I ended up not seeing her just because things got busy and I didn't have the time. I tried to start up with her again, and even brought my boyfriend. What I learned is that she still lacks professionalism but now she even lacks the personal flair I try to get outside of the corporate spa (she was my masseuse at Gerlain spa when she referred me to her personal practice). Some friends that I referred loved her so much they bought gift certificates for their parents which they couldn't use anymore and asked if they could use the certificates themselves in the future. She referred to her "one-year policy" and they weren't going to be here then. They then referred the certificates to me. After contact her personally via email, she then made me schedule an appointment on her website. (I guess she's too big of a deal to look on her calendar herself). I tried to schedule but the website was wonky and I didn't get a confirmation so I emailed her again and she assured me everything was ok. She had switched locations, though there was no address at all on her email. I called her when I showed up at the old location, wanting to reschedule since I didn't have time to drive to the Westbank. She didn't want to reschedule me and wanted me to go to the Westbank right then and there. And, this from someone who has been late to my previous appointments. The moral of the story is that she is a skilled masseuse; But she lacks both professionalism, or even a personal touch of treating you like a human instead of $75 per person. She is adopting impersonal corporate practices which is exactly why people choose individual practitioners. Nor is she very professional like a corporation with a working website scheduler and confirmation system. She just made $150 from doing nothing, by being a pain in the butt.
