I was surprised about the low reviews for Relax and Caffe. This is a place in the Venice train station where there is very little seating or places to rest. The fact that they offer a seating area as well as toilets is amazing and very helpful. The food was also good. I loved the fresh fruit options, the white chocolate croissant was absolutely delicious! We also grabbed some sandwiches so we would have lunch for the train. read more

Relax & Caffe is located at Stazione Venezia San Lucia. My boyfriend and I stopped here for takeaway lunch and snacks to bring on our train ride from Venice to Rome. If it's your first time here, it's a bit confusing. For the hot foods and coffee, you have to order at the counter, get a ticket, and then redeem it with the stands. We went and chose our chips and drinks, then looked for the items we wanted to order at the register. I had to take a photo of the items to order the item we wanted correctly. My boyfriend had the Piadina Classica (6,50€) which was a wrap with lettuce, tomatoes, some sliced meats, and cheese and I had the Tiroese (6,50€) that was a sandwich on a grain bread with spec and brie. The one thing I didn't like that we didn't know until we got on the train was that they wrapped the food in napkins. The napkins were sticking to my sandwich and cheese, gross. And from a different section/station, I also got my daily fix of gelato in. It was a sweet treat before getting on the train. A pretty affordable spot with a wide selection to pick up snacks for a long train ride. read more

This coffee and sandwich bar is nestled here. Real espresso coffee is in Italian DNA and woe betide anyone who suggests the instant rubbish in a jar. And here is not just any old railway station; it's the 16 platformed Venezia Santa Lucia railway station. It is low and wide with the flanks of its façade decorated with Venetian lions. it is full of anticipation as when you walk out there before you is the impressive Venetian grand canal. In fact as we approached our stop we caught sight of elegant Venice Simplon Orient Express. The station is 162 years old and took its name from the church that was demolished to allow its construction. The cappuccino coffees here were darn good, they were €2.20 each and came through on Revolut at £3.90. And boy do they have footfall as 30 million souls pass through every year with 450 trains stopping there every day. Their coffee is priced at near half the cost of two equivalent cappuccinos in the relatively newly opened Starbucks in Belfast's Lanyon Place Train Station which has no class, no soul, no culture nor any charm at all. The cafe service was ace and all those serving, from the lady who took up-front payment to the barista who made our coffees were a pleasant bunch. Once we got our coffees we stood at a table not relaxing but scanning the board to find which platform our train would arrive at. We've experience of the reputed chaos and vagaries of Italian railways but darn good coffee is always assured. read more

I ordered a fruit smoothie (strawberry banana) and pointed to a picture they had on the table. They took a while to make my drink and when I finally got it, it was not at all what the picture displayed. It was a bubbly mess of what seemed like just strawberry and bananas blended together with NO other ingredients. Along with this, the price they charged me was 1 euro more than the cost was on the sign. The smoothie was incredibly tiny (could barely fit in my hand?) and tasted terrible (this is coming from someone who loves smoothies). I never got a refund because my train was about to arrive. read more

This is one of the main options when waiting for your train in Venice. I grabbed a glass of wine and stocked up on some refreshments while waiting for my train. There is an outdoor patio area, a bit warm during the summer and an upstairs area(closed due to Covid). There are also a few table tops you can use if you just want to would rather stand. read more

Expresso drinks are real good here. They have sandwiches, pastries, booze to go, etc. very modern and clean. Seems brand new? Very convenient store in the train station, especially when bathrooms are clean and free! . Just ask for token, you have to be a customer. This place is above the train station in Venice. You have to pay for your food at one of the cashiers first, then bring your receipt to pick up your items. Once you get your food, you can choose to go upstairs to the tables to eat, if you can find one. When I went, most of the tables were occupied by sleeping customers/passengers. One person even had his alarm going off for several minutes, before waking up, turning it off, and going back to sleep. read more

Food: we grabbed sandwiches and water for the train ride to Florence. Do you know how to order food in these type of places? First you pay at the cashier. Then you take your receipt to the food person and then he or she will start to prepare your food. After you receive your food, the food person rips a tear into the receipt. Service: Meh. Pretty average cafe in the train station in Venice. We had a few hot chocolates here while waiting for our train to Florence. Drinks are ordered at the front counter. You then show your receipt to the barista, who's a single person overworked by all the customers waiting for their drinks. It's inefficient, but it's good when it comes. The hot chocolate is rich and tasty and the cappuccino is solid. If you're waiting for a train, just wait in here. read more

This place sucks. The server we had was the rudest, meanest, and unfriendliest human being I've ever met in Venice. Good lord, if you don't like human interaction maybe don't work in a food/service industry. Will never come back. Wasted my money on sub par coffee and overpriced water because "one drink per person sitting".
