The service has been great, and the waitstaff is super knowledgeable about their drinks and food. It's such a cool vibe inside, but it is very dark. It's kinda hard to see the menu - I wish they put small handheld flashlights on the tables. Multiple tables around us were using iPhone flashlights to see the menu which were so bright. The food is always incredible, and I'm partial to their seafood options. I've had both the snapper and the trout, and they were exceptional. Their cocktail menu is 10/10. Such unique combos of ingredients, but I've never had one I didn't love.

We snagged an early dinner reservation at 5:15 pm and surprisingly, people were already dining and they just got busier as time went on. We were greeted right away by our wonderful server (forgot her name though) and she asked if it was our first time there and if we were celebrating something. We answered yes to both and they actually brought us complimentary champagne, a sparkling non-alcoholic cider for me because I ordered a zero proof drink. Kimball House is known for their amazing bar program, so my husband ordered a Kimball House served with a side of olives and lemon twist on ice, like what?! I ordered a ginger & honey lime fizz to enjoy. For starters, we also enjoyed Hawaiian rolls, green salad and some oysters for my husband. The rolls and salad came out super fast, but there was quite a wait for our drinks and oysters that I didn't think they were going to come out. The rolls are a must-get here - they're huge and the strawberry preserve it was served with was delicious! The salad was actually split in half, which was a super nice touch and was plenty of serving between two people. We loved the dressing - it was nice and fresh. For our entree, I ordered a trout and my husband ordered the duck breast. I was a bit underwhelmed when I saw my plate because I was thinking it would be a plate full of grits, but what was served was the perfect amount because it was quite heavy. The trout by itself was too salty for my taste, but was best eaten with a bite of collards and grits. My husband enjoyed his meal, but wished the duck was cooked a bit more. For dessert, we both enjoyed a Paris Brest. Our server actually put it in twice so we each got one when she meant to only punch in one, but she ended up taking one off from our bill. I was quite shocked that our whole dinner was only around $190, not including tip, which I thought was quite reasonable. We definitely recommend this place for date night or simply for delicious food.

I also really loved their food, especially how they match all the ingredients to really enhance each other's flavor. I enjoyed everything, but strongly recommend their crab cakes and the duck!

Once I could see again, I was able to take in the modern decor - hotel chic or art gallery without the art. A quick perusal of the menu and I was left a bit disappointed since several of the items I was banking on are no longer on the menu, new chef yada yada. So we elected for the 'bread service' and cheese. The 'bread service' was a single yeast roll, to share for two. What a joke! I get it's $5 pp but at least serve two rolls. Our server said something along the lines of sharing when the 'bread service' did arrive, which we did. And then promptly ordered another roll, to share. The cheese over a fruit bread was rich and heavy and an odd choice. The favorite dish of the evening by far was the corn agnolotti and braised lobster, it was beautiful. But, the teeny tiny agnolotti were laughable. It would have been such a complete dish if it was reasonably sized stuffed pasta. The filet was tender and perfectly prepared and came with a side of giant fries. The fries being the most unexpected proportioned item of the evening. Would have prepared a couple stalks of broccolini with the filet, and maybe still a few fries. Overall, it was a nice meal, but nothing that seared into my memory like the sudden light to dark shock of entering the establishment. We were left so meh, we opted to skip dessert altogether and explore a second location for sweets.

We were a little concerned with the potential for heat given it was late June, but we were very comfortable with the river and fans for cooling as well as our umbrella for shade. We both ordered steaks and the came out perfect! Our server made exceptional recommendations (which we happily followed) and overall our experience was second to none. For both our steaks, they were cooked to perfection and the flavor can't be matched. I neglected to get photos, but I HIGHLY recommend getting the rolls. Not only are they super buttery and have honey butter on the side, but the flake salt on top adds that special little something that puts them over the top. Not a cheap spot by any stretch (and at least for our visit, valet parking was the only option), but given the special occasion, we were not disappointed. Highly recommend as your first choice for that special night.

First of all, the parking situation was abysmal if you wanted to self-park. The lot fills up quickly and it isn't clear which spots are reserved for valet or open to the public. After driving around for 15 minutes, I decided to order take out instead. It would have been nice to know if there had been an overflow parking lot. The food itself was decent, but nothing spectacular. I had the cowboy steak, the calamari, and the lobster Mac and cheese. The steak was prepared well with the perfect doneness, but was missing some more salt. The calamari was mediocre with the batter being more mushy than crispy, even when eaten fresh. The lobster Mac and cheese was unfortunately not great either. The lobster was cooked well, but the portion size was small compared to the cost. The shells were not cooked al dente, but more on the overcooked side. Pros: Staff and servers were friendly. Cons: Limited parking space. Very expensive for the meager portion size. Flavor isn't quite up to par with what I've had at other steakhouses.
