YELP SHORT ANSWER: a great visit, yes if you're out shopping for anything drop in this REI location and enjoy. LOCATION: simple to find off the 111 in PD and tons of parking usually with a lot of cars. Choose your time. FACILITY: as a long time member, 4 decades, this exterior is nothing special compared to other locations in the PNW but you get to work with what you have when it comes to picking buildings. The interior however is great. Open and easy to find everything. STAFF: as with most of all REI location, the staff are all helpful and knowledgeable about their products. Fern in the cycling department was so incredibly helpful and got my wheels serviced while we shopped for a tent on their Labour Day Sale. Can't say enough good things about our first trip to this new location, other than this was one of the best shopping experiences we've had in this area in a long time. OVERALL VALUE: it is not cheap, never has been but if you're looking for a deal, learn about their sales and how to best use your co-op dollars. REI provides excellent quality items, professional level advice, and a fair price. TIP: ask questions, shop in the store, online, or online at their outlet store. This REI store was awesome. I interacted with several employees, who were all engaging, friendly, and willing to help out. They had a decent selection of what you'd come to expect from an REI? Although it was a little smaller than some of the stores I usually frequent. The often have sales on clothing and gear, and if you stop in for one of those the value is pretty good for the quality items you get. I've had clothing from REI I'm wearing 5+ years later and no sign of giving up. The parking lot is spacious and clean, the store was organized, and the staff was friendly. Spoke to some customers who thought the same...and one of your team members agreed while I was otw out the door because it was too damn cold inside the store to shop & browse some more... Store is very spacious & clean with lots of room to roam around... Prices are very high but brands & quality is good & high-end... Not one team member asked if we needed any help...and they were not busy... Smallish REI. Checked online for certain shoes, color and size: in sock, yes so I went to store. Nice enough shoe worker spent a good amount of time looking and let me know that their stock was a mess and he couldn't find. He did though bring out several pairs from the brand in my size. Bottom line- lost sale and my confidence. Really, wasted my time too. REI does have cool stuff for those who love adventure. This store misses the mark in not having the displays as in other REIs. And workers don't seem as enthusiastic either. I may return if I need something they offer but it probably won't be for a while. Ending up calling a shoe store in Palm Springs. A new store! We were greeted in minutes, and often. The staff is really nice. I never felt like they were sales people. I felt like they were just nice folks at work. Lots to choose from here, bikes, backpacking, shoes, and more. A fun stroll. Prices are a bit high, but I expected that. They do have a $30 membership you can buy. It gets you 20% off bike service. Not sure what else, but it's a lifetime purchase, so might be worth looking at. REI has fans and is a destination store. Costs a bit more, but I think they might pay well and take better cared of the staff, so it's very much worth it. read more

This is one amazing store. Everything for bike riding, paddle boarding, camping, running, and more. My only complaint is that they only had one tent on display. They have photos of other tents available, about 40 different ones, up to $500. So the selection is there, just not displayed. But they really have so much merchandise I know they can't display it all. I am for sure going back. read more

I have been a member of REI close to 30 years now. I recently went to buy some trail running shoes , I was interested in the brooks glycerins, and the Alutras. The person who started to help me "Bridget" had very little knowledge of the shoes. Why she was working in the shoe section was beyond me. I asked her several technical questions which she could not answer and seemed to get frustrated with. I am hiking Grand Canyon rim to rim and need a quality shoe. I decided to just find my shoe size and rode them online. Which was actually cheaper without the sales persons attitude. I suggest if you have such poor quality employees you're bound to fail. read more

I echo the same sentiment that others have stated on here.. not one team member asked if I needed help. They were not busy. 6 employees walking around talking to each other. When you do ask for help, employees act like they're inconvenienced. Poor customer service. read more
