I literally did a U-Turn when I saw the REI store. I had no idea one had opened in OKC. I'm in the market for a new paddle board and desperately need a better life jacket. Staff was friendly but busy. Paddle boards were outrageously priced in my opinion, but the life jackets were reasonable (but the selection was not great). I did walk out with a great lake hat! (I did get the hard sell when I check out to become a "member." I also noticed some sale areas of the store were for members only.) I will be back.

Recreational Equipment, Inc., is more commonly known as REI. They are a co-op that's been around for about 80 years. From day one until today they strive to invest in people, the outdoors and in communities. So feel good about shopping there because they are the kindest of neighbors and are investing in OKC (even in the short time they've been here). They have all the cool kid outdoorsy stuff. It's so much fun shopping in there, even if cardio at your local Cyclebar is more your thing and a walk around Lake Hefner is your "outdooring" for the weekend. They have great clothing lines for adults and kids. They have an impressive collection of nice socks for the whole family. They have all kinds of trinkets and gadgets that make for fun gifts for anyone (including great chocolates). They sell bikes for adults and kids, have a fabulously fun tennis shoe collection. They have all the boots: hiking, rain, & snow. Their inventory of all kinds of bags (backpack, knapsack, luggage, fanny pack, packing cubes galore!) was fun to explore :) They have SO MUCH YETI GEAR. Become a lifelong member for a one time opt-in fee of $20 and then earn 10% cash back on your REI purchases throughout the year. It's a fun place to spend an hour or more. Thanks, REI for coming to OKC and investing in our friends and neighbors. It means a lot to our community to have you here. Can't wait to hangout again soon! November 2019

Went in to buy shoes for a stationary bike. Ended up with 5 people helping me due to various questions, was told of discounts for the shoes, was able to try things on, and even received a discount coupon. Ended up joining. Caden was GREAT, very sweet, and quite helpful. Will return again since there are a lot of activities we like to do outside. Overall, great experience! First time but not last!

I walked in to the OKC location for REI on Sunday (10/31) with the goal of researching my costs for gear I will need for my first hike in the late summer of 2022. I was greeted by multiple friendly associates who provided me with valuable information about trekking poles, bio-friendly bug repellent, etc. Then I made my way to the boots, where I must have looked like a deer in headlights. I had no idea what I was looking for and a very kind gentleman named Jay asked if he could help. I told him I was just looking and said no pressure but he would be happy to help me at least try a few pairs on so I could get a feel for them. I told him I didn't want to waste his time and he said that I wasn't. So he brought a few out and showed me how to test them using the in store demo rock. He talked about the fit in the midsole, heel and toe area, especially for those downhill parts of my hike. He talked and passed on knowledge for almost 2 hours. He was so kind and zero pressure to make a purchase but genuinely wanted to help me. I left the store knowing which boots will be the right ones for me when I am ready to buy. He even made sure I had the size, model # and color as well. Jay made this trip in to REI one I will remember and one that will make me want to return to make all of my purchases for gear as I need it. Thank you!!

What a great surprise to find out that the new OKC REI store is now open. I've been following the store's social media for months, and have been awaiting the grand opening set for Nov 15th. I had no idea they were opening before that date. I'm so glad that I drove by the other day and saw patrons entering the store. I'm happy to report that the store exceeded all of my expectations. REI has really done a good job sizing up the OKC market. To my joy and amazement, there was a large bicycling department, trail running, hiking, camping and workout gear areas. I immediately spotted my favorite bicycle mechanic, Marty at the Bike Shop. Having Marty on their team is a huge plus! He told me that he will be hosting bike maintenance, tire changing and other classes in the near future. I've had the opportunity to attend some of his classes before and I can guarantee you that if you want to cycle, like to cycle, or are a seasoned cyclist, you need to sign up when the classes open up. They had a nice selection of winter cycling gear available with warm padded leggings, vests, and jackets. There is a large selection of socks for any type of enthusiast. Whether you are looking for smart wool or a great cotton blend, you will find it here. Staff was so helpful and departments were easy to navigate. I was delighted to see a large selection of Hoka trail running shoes and trekking poles. They have a nice selection of men's and women's athletic wear for running, yoga, hiking, lounging or whatever you like. The camping equipment included some super cool tents (think millenial camping), knives and a host of useful items. Be sure to check out the co-op program. It is a great way to save money and make the best use of your new obsession with REI. I can tell a lot of thought went into the merchandise selection for this store. I might even pick up a new hobby or two after seeing all of the fun items. Enjoy the store!

    Grand opening!

This bike shop is absolutely stellar. I was calling around to other shops to see what offerings were available and I was surprised to see this shop listed so close to us because I had never seen it before (they have no sign on the shop, it is just painted on the windows). One of the owners, Chad, answered my call and talked to me about some options I might consider. He was very kind and took several minutes answering my questions. When we visited the shop, we were able to continue our conversation right where we left off. Chad spent a great amount of time talking through specifics and asking a lot of questions about our use cases. We talked about places we ride locally and places we ride when we travel. He would always ask how much detail we wanted in answers to questions and would very patiently break down every facet on every bike we asked about with no signs of hurry or being rushed. When we finally settled on a model, they didn't have any on hand but they ordered them for us on a reasonable down payment. I also want to highlight the fact that he was perfectly fine with us thinking on it and coming back, there was no pressure to purchase that day. When the bikes came in, we scheduled a time for a fitting. Sarah, the other owner, took time adjusting every bit of the bike fit to our exact specs and Chad spent a great deal of time working on our suspension while also talking us through how to make adjustments on our own. Their attention to detail was incredible and they even took time to cut handlebars and find a more suitable saddle for my wife during her fitting. On our first outing on the new bikes, I made a silly mistake and kinked my dropper post cable. When I brought it back to the shop the next day, the mechanic Andrew dropped what he was doing and fixed it while I was there. Every interaction with the staff here has been amazing. They are genuinely good humans who love bikes and care about their customers. I cannot recommend them enough.

They were able to use the existing break line for the repair, saving me from having to buy a new line, and had it back to me the next business day. When I got my bike back, it was spotless. Not only did they fix my issue, they cleaned and maintained my bike free of charge. That's all great, but my favorite thing about the shop is the atmosphere. The workers always seem enthusiastic about answering my cycling questions, regardless of whether I end up buying something or not. I truly cannot recommend Neighborhood Bicycles enough!!
