After spending thousands of dollars purchasing bikes and accessories for my bikes for a huge road trip across this great country, I approached REI about being my sponsor for my charity ride from St. Augustine Fl, to San Diego Ca. The charity is for OA Foundation, which supports research and provides instruments for the children with OA ( Ocular Albinism) to improve their vision. The manager of my local store in Cranston RI told me " sorry, we only support events that about the great outdoors", I said, " I am biking across the country on a bicycles ( which I have purchased from REI) , if that's not the great out doors, I don't know what is. He said SORRY no can do... Funny thing, I only want them sponsor with good will, not with money. Its time I realize that REI is just another big box store or a corporate giant with silly rules and regulations, lacking logic and compassion. Should have bought from a local bike shop...my bad. read more

We went to buy my son cross-country skis for Christmas, but it was a frustrating experience from…read morethe start. It took a while to get someone to help, and when a woman finally came out, there was only one other customer in the store at the time. She helped us find the right size boots, then wandered off before my son had finished trying them on. She didn't return to assist us with the skis and poles and instead started helping other customers while we waited. After nearly 20 minutes, she came out with an older gentleman, but instead of helping us right away, he went to help the people next to us, who were already being assisted, and then ignored us completely as he walked past. I was frustrated at this point, so I snapped and told him, "It's us. She wants you to help us." I apologized afterward and explained that we had been waiting for her for almost 20 minutes, watching her assist other customers before coming back to finish with us. He was very kind and helped us with the skis and poles, and I asked if there was a package deal for buying everything together. He went to check on it for us. While we were waiting, a woman's two toddlers were knocked over by some dogs that had appeared out of nowhere. The kids were scared and started crying. As the woman tried to calm them, I moved closer to the counter to put myself between the dogs and her children, and asked the woman behind the counter why the dogs weren't on leashes. That's when another woman came out of the back, grabbed the dogs (apparently hers), and then yelled at me to leave. I responded, "Your dogs knocked over children, and I'm the one who needs to leave? I came here to shop locally, and you ignored us for 20 minutes, only to tell us to leave now? This is the worst service I've ever had." Needless to say, I took my business to REI instead.

I would imagine string changes are being done without a drawboard because none of these bows are in time and they aren't checking the work being done. The bow I saw yesterday had 10+ degrees of cam lean and a cable making contact with the cam after getting it back from F&F. Giving a customer their bow back when the cable is rubbing against the cam is straight up dangerous; If you can't identify an issue like that and communicate it to the customer you shouldn't be pressing bows.
