So, it may be kind of frightening that the staff here knows my name, but I prefer to think of it as marvelous customer service rather than a penchant to be here too often... The store is gorgeous. The layout is always meticulous and well-stocked, so I know that if my size isn't there, it's probably not in the store. I love the way J. Crew clothes fit me, and when their items go on sale, I have a hay day! The back section of the store is usually dedicated to sale items, which are always displayed nicely. Quick story: I brought a dress in that I had ordered on-line at full price and was just a tad snug for my taste. I felt that, for the amount of money I'd spent it should be prefect. Well, when the cashier went to return it he looked at me and asked "How come you're returning?" I told him my reason, and he said, "Just how snug?" I looked at him funny and he said "It's ringing in for $19! If it fits, YOU HAVE to keep it!"SO we ran to the fitting room and decided it was doable - and I absolutely love this dress, people. I mean, a sales person who does that for you? AWESOME. This J. Crew is my go-to place for my husband and myself. I was looking for the Tillary purse in that beautiful mint colour (sold out online and in most stores), and as soon as I stepped in and told the salesgirl about my search, she was ON IT. Checking the back, checking their inventory systems, etc. Luckily, there was ONE left. On the mannequin--huzzah! She was happy, and I was thrilled. An enthusiastic 5 stars for the high level of service, willingness to help, and the overall great experience I had. An always helpful & friendly staff! Very bright & well laid out for all the J. Crews I've been in. The sales racks are in the back corners for men's & children. They're usually picked over for me & my son but they offer a good percentage off already discounted merchandise so I always look. They also have a good amount of footwear & some In Good Company stuff too. If you're a J. Crew fan you won't be disappointed! read more

It is very hard to find a friendly retail staff during busy days (holiday season). With all the sale thats going on around, children crying all over the place, kids running, bumping into each other during dinner rush, etc. these are just some things to avoid during holiday rush shopping. I was surprised to be helped by the friendliest and warmest staff here. They are doing the "extra mile" to help buyers like me. No matter how inconvenient it is for them to do it, they will still be willing to do it. I hope staff from other stores learn from them. Good job! read more

YAY for this store! My favorite location out of RI and MA. Cranston location is nicer to get to as I HATE parking at the mall and I really do not care for the atmosphere of the mall here, but the staff definitely is not as friendly as they are in the mall. I sent my bf in for some pick ups and the staff was so friendly and helpful and even remembered him the next time he went in. He couldn't find my size in a coat he got me for christmas and they called and ordered it for him from the Newport location, it arrived two days later... Every time I have gone in there they are always so attentive... not pushy but helpful. She noticed me looking in the mirror with a pair of pants I was disappointed I was not liking, she asked me what felt uncomfortable (without me saying a word to her) and went and got me another pair that she thought would fit better for a smaller frame, and she was right! They are always stocked up on what I need, most of the time I can even find stuff that I can't find online or in other locations I have visited. If you are a student make sure you get your student discount (just show a valid student id) and sometimes depending on the sale you'll get both discounts. Not always though, so make sure to ask and they will always give you whatever saves you more money! read more

The staff is the most commendable at this J Crew! When I couldn't find the specific flip-flops I want, three staff members did all they could to make sure I left the store fully aware that my flip-flops would be shipped to me soon! Aside from the staff, the clothes scream "collegiate prepster". With my college-level income, I only come in here every so often just to see if there are new items or new markdowns. Their sales can be generous. I will always show my I.D. to get my small 10% discount at this location (if in college in RI, do the same!). read more

I went in here last night for a couple of new work pants and shirts, and sweaters. I've been in the sales industry for 5 years and 2 years or retail. So I go in and there's only 2 customers in there. Just wanted to note this last night 1/17 around 530-6pm. I didnt get a hello how are you? or a Do you need help or need a dressing room... I was speechless. I asked a lady to help me with my size. I'm very small maybe a size 2-4 in pants but hey! holiday season maybe i did put on some pounds. She looked at me and said IDK! okay sure maybe a fitting room would be nice? So she went over to the front and i thought she was grabbing the keys. I stood there for 7 mins for a room to find out she was just talking to another coworker. I was so disgusted that I did put everything down. If im willing to spend $500-700 on clothes, I would rather go to a place with respect LIKE white house black market. unbelievable!!!! I grabbed one shirt and just went to cash out and she did not even ask me if I found everything okay or even have a good night/ how are you? You will never get my business again. My Family and friends are from Cranston and i usually only shop in Cranston but i guess ill go over to providence place mall. read more
