I rarely leave unfavorable reviews, especially for a business that I have patronized for years, but…read morethis experience was disappointing enough that I feel it should be shared. I will start by saying the customer service and products have always been phenomenal here, this is what kept me a customer of theirs for so many years. This experience is definitely worth their customers knowing and making their own decisions about how they spend their money. I recently sent my son to TAJ Essentials to purchase the fragrance oil I have bought from this business many times. I told him that I normally pay approximately $50 for my bottle. He relayed that information when making the purchase. When I received the oil, I immediately noticed that the bottle was half the size I normally receive, yet I had still been charged $50. I contacted the business because I initially thought there had simply been a mistake. I was told that their prices had increased. I certainly understand that businesses periodically raise their prices. My concern is not that a price increased--it is the substantial difference between what I was charged and what the business was advertising. I went directly to the TAJ Essentials website to verify the pricing. At the time of my purchase and complaint, their website showed the 16 oz Miss Dior Rose & Roses fragrance oil for $50 and the 8 oz bottle for $35. My receipt, however, shows that I was charged $50 for an 8 oz/240 mL bottle. I provided this information and the screenshots to the business. A manager later contacted me and explained that their prices had increased and that they were in the process of changing the website. What concerned me even more was being told that if I ordered the same product through their website, I could still purchase it at the advertised website price, but because my purchase was made inside the store, the higher in-store price would stand. That explanation makes absolutely no sense to me. If a 16 oz product is publicly advertised by the business for $50, while an 8 oz bottle is advertised for $35, I do not believe a longtime customer should be expected to simply accept being charged $50 for the 8 oz bottle without clear disclosure--particularly after bringing the discrepancy directly to management's attention. I gave TAJ Essentials the opportunity to review and resolve this before leaving a review. Unfortunately, after speaking with both the owner and management, they chose not to correct the matter. I am attaching the photographs, website screenshots, and my receipt so that anyone reading this review can see exactly what I am referring to and make their own determination. After years of patronizing this business, I expected better communication, transparency, and customer service. Price increases happen. Charging a substantially different price from the price your own business is actively advertising--and then telling a customer that the advertised price is available online but not for the purchase they just made in your store--is an entirely different issue. That is why I am disappointed, and why I am leaving this review.

Whoooa! Awesome head shop, dude! This fun little shop in…read morethe NoDa district of Charlotte has all of your smoking accessory needs. They've got a wide selection of one-hitters, water pipes, spoons, etc. for all your 'tobacco' needs. The place is crammed with hippy accessories, concert t-shirts, black light posters, and bumper stickers. The prices are all very reasonable, and they even offer a Yelp check-in deal! Score! The staff was rather nonchalant, but that was perfect for what I was looking for. The selections were stellar. I've never seen so many smoking accessories in one store. They honestly had everything, from the cheap low end stuff to the ultra-high end accessories. Their jewelry was rather nice, with lots of things that would be right at home at a Grateful Dead concert. Parking wasn't too bad, since we were there on a weekday afternoon. Check this place out!

But once I got the hang of it, I swear I created the perfect scent for me. I won't ruin the details for anyone else, but the scent I ended up loving was one I never expected to like. I truly shocked myself with that realization. I did not do the instructor led class, but whenever we had questions, they were there to help. All in all, the high of that day is something I'll always remember. Despite the nerves, I created a beautiful scent, and even creating the name was special. It's absolutely beautiful! I could linger there for hours admiring everything. Every detail from the felt drapes in the dressing room to the artfully displayed merchandise was spot on. We peeked at a few of the price tags and can report that all of this handsome atmosphere certainly comes at a high price! So, if visiting Tabor to shop, make sure you bring some serious spending money. We'd been eyeing their Dinner Series for a while and finally pulled the trigger on the October one when we saw Bruce Moffett was the featured chef. We are huge Moffett groupies. They set tables up outside on the porch -- decorated with gorgeous embroidered table cloths, fresh flowers, beautiful place settings. So, while you dine in absolute style, the poor chefs have to prepare a meal with no refrigeration, no ovens or stoves, etc. It was like a real life version of Top Chef! I'm happy to report, the meal did not disappoint! It was open bar all night and they were incredibly liberal with the alcohol. The cocktail that night was a gin fizzy. Delicious. There was also copious amounts of both red and white wine. No ones glass was ever empty. The food was Mediterranean and also plentiful. We feasted on stuffed grape leaves, pita bread and some of the best hummus I've ever tasted, grilled fish and steak, lentils and more! It was all topped off with homemade baklava, flaky and dripping honey. Yum. The crowd skewed a little older (and richer) than us so there were a few awkward "socializing" moments. But, other than that, we had a blast and will definitely consider future dinners at Tabor!
