Looking at the shops as I was walking through, I didn't see many stores that had closed down, though there were a few. It did lose Forever 21, one of its biggies, but it will be replaced in the not too distant future. The Avenues three pillars at this time are Belk, Dillards, and JC Penny. I came on a slower day during school time and it was a very pleasant visit. There are more than 150 shops and specialty outlets here (like two fantastic coffee kiosks!). Certainly far more than anyone can cover in a day. For me, I love the three sports shops here! Lids, Locker Room by Lids, and Palm Beach Autographs. I'm always guaranteed to make a visit in all three of these stores! Palm Beach Autographs sells sports paraphernalia you won't find at many other places in JAX. You'll find banners, pro and college football team pennants, helmets (large and small, many autographed), signs, and many other unique items for sports' enthusiasts. Lids is mainly a ball cap shop. I got my new Jaguars ball cap on this visit! It also provides stitching on ball caps - a unique feature found rarely in stores of this type. Locker Room by Lids provides all the Jacksonville Jags jerseys, ball caps, T-shirts, and other team player jerseys any fan could hope for. Lids at Town Center has closed. So now I'll make the trip here more often. Two other places I love are Le Crepes and now, Coffee Mood. Make sure you stop at these stellar coffee kiosks when you visit. I'll drift in to Van's, along with a few others. Of note, there are many similar clothing stores and plenty of places for cosmetics and clothing for women at this mall too. As for value, most of the stores here are reputable and things are priced higher than what you may get online. Of course, many shops offer deals, so even this can make visiting The Avenues worth it. Personally, I'm glad it's here, and as one fellow Yelper wrote, "I hope it lasts for another 20 years!" I agree Terron B! And I hope for even more! Recommend: HIGH

Large strip shopping center located on Dunn Avenue. I just hope it doesn't go down anymore than it already has. But it continues to stay pretty busy and it has Publix as the large anchor store here. JSO (Jacksonville Sheriff's Office) has a large sub-station in this shopping center, so thanks to that, I always feel safe here. If it weren't for that fact, I honestly don't know that I'd continue to shop here. Parts of the parking lot have been repaved... others have not. So, depending on where you are in the parking lot, watch out for large potholes! In addition to Publix, DD's Discounts has just opened a new, large store here. You'll also find a Family Dollar, Sally Beauty Supply, Bealls Outlet, GameStop, and Bailey's Gym. There's also quite a few smaller stores here. If you're looking for something to eat, there's China Buffet, Cici's Pizza, and Firehouse Subs (to name a few). In the parking lot, you'll find Checker's and Starbucks in their own buildings. I remember when they built the SBUX here... I honestly didn't think it'd stand a chance, so I'm honestly surprised to see it still standing. You'll still see Dollar Tree and Radio Shack on the large sign for the shopping center; however, Radio Shack is about to go (they have their "going out of business" signs up) and Dollar Tree has moved down the street a few blocks into it's own building.

They have stores from all categories such as Nordstrom, Anthropology, Dick's Sporting Goods, and more! The stores are a bit more on the expensive side because it's not an outlet but it is very nice. If I had to pick the anchor store, I would guess it would be the Mega Liquidation Center, though I came in here on a quest for Mexican food and heard about this place called Pepe's Hacienda. In addition to those two businesses, I noticed a pizzeria, a dentist called Economy Dentistry. A University of Florida Pediatric Center, a Quest Diagnostics, a dry cleaners and various other small businesses who call this shopping center home. Oh, there were also a few banks. The parking lot looks well maintained and the shopping plaza was relatively clean. All in all, my visit to this plaza and the Mexican restaurant was a positive one. While I would not recommend coming here to do some shopping, it is not a bad place to head to if you have business in one of the businesses here.

The shopping center also has an Ashley Furniture Outlook (which features Tempur-pedic mattresses), Mattress Firm, Panera Bread, Moe's Southwestern Grill and more. Easy in, easy out. It's clear that they've had to dig up and resurface the parking lot at least once but it was smooth enough for me today. This shopping center has a little of everything and plenty of possibilities to open more stores! Plenty of parking, and some of the strips are out on the perimeter of the plaza- you can walk or you can hop in the car and drive to you next stop in the shopping center! We did both- Peterbrooke was on the perimeter- so we drove over. But all the other stores were within walking distance and it was a gorgeous evening when we went there. Enjoy shopping!
