When we arrived, no one answered the door. There was a code lock, but our Booking.Com confirmation, etc. gave no code. We came back a couple times over the next hours, dragging our luggage, but no one would come to the door! Finally in desperation I phoned the hotel, even though I only had an American phone and had to pay a big roaming charge. A lady answered and said that the door code was on an e-mail she sent, and gave us the code. After that all went well, except as seniors, dragging our luggage up several flights by ourselves was no fun. Checking for her e-mail that had arrived after two from Booking.com, the code was placed in a small-print note that the hotel was not staffed. In 50 years of travel, staying in 100s (if not 1,000 s) of hotels, I never encountered such a hostile hotel system. The Booking.com information did not provide a clue, and Booking.com should not offer this property unless they can insert a bold warning. Had we been properly informed I would not be nearly as disgusted with this horrible Booking.com experience! I would like to rate this property 1.0 and not one point higher! This is definitely not for seniors, but if you know to find out the door code for this unattended luxury hostel, and you have little luggage or are backpacking, this may be the place for you! read more
