Unfortunately, the results were disappointing across the board. The Mixed Berry Crunchy was cute in presentation, but that was its only redeeming quality. There was no bold--or even subtle--mixed berry flavor. At $10, it felt wildly overpriced and not worth the calories. Next was the Lemon Crunchy, which is supposed to feature a lemon blueberry flavor. As someone who loves lemon, I had high expectations, but once again it was bland and forgettable. Since this is a bakery, I also tried a fresh croissant and asked for it to be warmed. The staff accommodated the request, and it smelled incredible. It was warm, light, and flaky--but sadly, the flavor fell flat. A light brushing of butter on top would have gone a long way. For me, this is strike two. Unfortunately, Lilla Vanilla just isn't worth the money or the calories. Based on my experience--mediocre service on the first visit, bland and overpriced featured items on the second, and only neutral-to-slightly-positive notes on the croissant--I'd rate it 2 out of 5 . I seriously contemplated giving them 1 star but to be fair, the viral crunchy presentation was appealing and the croissant did have good texture (even if the flavor missed).

On the flip side, the cheese quiche has been a winner those times I had it. It didn't take me back to the Alsace, but it was better than average. I had some cake from here recently. Visually, it looked fantastic, and the interior was moist (dry cake is a crime!), and it had all kinds of chocolate on it and in it, but the flavor was just "good". My socks remained on after tasting it. It was like they left the something special out that would have taken it from good to memorable. It looked great, but the taste didn't quite live up to the visuals. I'd eat it again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it for someone's birthday. The people working there are nice, but it can be a bit slow sometimes to make it through the register during the breakfast or lunch hours, especially if there's an indecisive person in front of you who changes their mind every fifteen seconds while picking up some pastries for the office, and she's oblivious to the five people waiting in line behind her. Although it's not the sort of place that's going to me primary destination, I'll keep on going here when I'm starving and need something to get me through my trip to the Home Depot. I am a fan of the pandan flavor desserts and bought two that I wanted to try. One being a roll cake and the other layer cake. The pandan roll cake with taro I was told is a specialty that they only have on weekends. It was really flavorful, moist and spongy, just perfectly touched with a dash of sweetness in both the cake and the cream - I personally don't like overly sweet foods, and this is just perfect for me and my mom. I'm equally pleased with the layer cake as well it was very fresh and have that "QQ" texture - deliciously chewy and bouncy. This too, just hit right for me on the gentle sweetness, the pandan flavor keeping the spotlight in this dessert. My mom and I are big fans of these desserts. We just came back trying out others pandan layer cakes in Downtown Flushing and this shop beats them by a large margin. The movie received an 80% and 75% approval rating respectfully. After the movie, we stopped by the Paris Baguerre which is only five minutes away. The close proximity is one of the reasons I chose the Paris Baquette. The pastry shop is clean, brightly lit and most importantly quiet enough to have a conversation. As my buddy and I played movie critics we chose our desserts. They make pastries daily. We went with the "Strawberry Lemon Cream Croissants" $6.69. The croissant was definitely fresh and delicious. A little high in price. but the quality and taste were there. They offer Lavazza coffee. I can't remember the price but it was not out of line. You can park in designated parking spaces in the SOFI parking garage. They have an app and a reward program, as well. As a final note, if aliens can get to Earth from light years away, we would not stand chance if they had nefarious intentions.

I knew I would be there at a certain time so I placed an online order for three sea salt coffees. I made sure they would be ready at a certain time that the app let me set. Also to note I've been here a few times and it's a very typical 85° which has a few tables to sit at and definitely keeps it very basic and bakery feeling. I get there about a half hour later and my coffee is not ready yet even though it was supposed to be ready 2 minutes before. I stood there for a while and finally someone came up to the coffee counter and asked if I needed anything. I said I was simply just waiting for my online order that I placed over a half hour ago. He went over to his computer and printed it out and got started on it but doesn't really give me a lot of confidence in placing online orders in the future. The worker did apologize and I appreciate that so four stars for now. As I was leaving, a lady who was also waiting for her coffee noted that she did the same thing and apparently they don't have all of their ducks in a row yet.
