They had the volume so loud in the 300 sequel that my ears (and my teenage sons and my dad's ears) hurt even with napkins for earplugs. I complained and was told it was set by corporate -- in so many words to piss off. I've been a loyal movie goer for many decades and have NEVER had a film and previews be so loud I had to use earplugs. I am in pain now even having done so. I wish I had just left. This Regal location is cooked. I only come here as a last resort and it never fails to disappoint. They have a monopoly in a densely populated area and they run it like they're well aware of that. The floors are filthy and covered in the previous screening's trash which never seems to be cleaned between films. Tonight's fun surprise; the lights came on 15 minutes before the credits and stayed on. When I asked why I was told by a young girl who I assume was the projectionist "they're on an auto timer. If that happens again you can just come tell me and I'll turn them off" I'll leave the ridiculousness of that response for your consideration. I live in Frederick but I'm willing to drive 30-60 minutes to another theater to avoid this place and do frequently. It's a shame because it used to be a decent multiplex 10 years ago. Not sure what happened but the owners would do well to pay attention to the downward spiral and the numerous bad reviews. Very clean theatre with reclining seats and big screens. Way overpriced concessions so bring your own!

This is my first and last to time here. The price for an early showing was ten dollar and change. Sure makes me want to bring in my own food. Seats are worn and need to be replaced. The cheap vinyl is uncomfortable, and cracking. There is no give to the back of the seat. I have had better experiences and cheaper ticket costs at AMC / Lowes and Carmike. I went to see Hotel Transylvania with my daughter. My 8 year old and I waited in line for popcorn for 20 minutes!!! They definitely need to step up the help behind the counter! Then when we were finally headed in to the movie... the ticket guy said he had to check my purse. I had two drinks in my hand and popcorn! This theater has given me so many memories and good times. They implemented the "Select Seating" system to where you have to choose what seat you sit in. It may (that's a very slight may) help crowding, but, it utterly hurts when the experience of finding a good seat, and getting there early gets thrown away by reservations three days before. I'm sticking to the other theatre at the Rio, or by purchasing them on demand. Thanks Regal for making a great movie theatre and then throwing the golden times in the trash. read more

Sadly, this Regal location has ignored revival showings of classic films. One example would be the 1942 classic "Casablanca". It was shown for one day only in theaters nationwide to celebrate the film's 70th anniversary. If they could screen the limited showing of "Titanic" in 3-D, why couldn't they show "Casablanca"? Once again- this location isn't going to show the 60th anniversary screening of the 1952 classic, "Singing In The Rain". What a bummer! Regal shouldn't ignore re-releases of Hollywood classics and independent features. They should also diminish the high prices of snack foods (and offer some healthy alternatives as well). They should also lower their ticket prices. This is the only first-run movie theater in the area. When this theater opened (as an R/C theater, but was acquired by Regal several years later)- there were two area cineplexes in operation on Route 40. It has been reduced to one major multiplex in the area (besides the area's legendary second-run twinplex, Holiday Cinemas). read more

We watched the 6:45 airing of kungfu panda 3 in theater 13 and someone in the top area was watching something the entire time. It ruined the entire experience. One of your employees was disturbing our movie. read more

Ethan Saylor, a young man with Down Syndrome, was murdered at this movie theatre by the security guards. His caregiver had gone to get her car and told him to stay put. He wanted to watch the movie again, but the manager told him he had to buy another ticket. When Ethan refused to move the manager called the security guards who were off duty police officers. His care giver came back and pleaded with everyone to calm down, not touch Ethan and wait for his mother who was 5 minutes away. Instead, the security guards threw him from his sit, hog tied him and suffocated him. His death was ruled a homicide, but the local police found no wrong doing of course! Now the Department of Justice is investigating! I suggest boycotting this Regal Cinemas and all Regal Cinemas nationwide! We have plenty of other choices for watching movies! I posted on the Regal Cinema Facebook page asking what steps they were taking to train employees so this doesn't happen again. They deleted my comment and blocked me! This is what I expect from a typical movie theater, but a few changes could make this place much better. First of all, either this theatre or a new theatre in Frederick needs to show independent films in addition to the big Hollywood movies. Secondly, the food needs a lot of work. I have been to movie theaters where the popcorn is delicious and fresh. The popcorn here is not only overpriced, but also stale and absurdly fake tasting. I guess that is what some people expect from a movie theater, but I have been to movie theaters that are really starting to make the cinema experience better all around. In addition to the popcorn, the candy and other food options are pathetic at Regal. They should pair with a local ice cream shop, offer real ice cream or frozen yogurt, learn how to make a real soft pretzel if it is going to be on the menu, and offer nachos that are made with real cheese instead of a strange-colored goo squirted out of a large tub. Maybe this isn't the theatre since it is owned by a large corporation, but somewhere in Frederick needs a smaller theater with real food and unique movies. I would actually enjoy going to the cinema and I wouldn't have to drive at least an hour to see a slightly less mainstream movie. read more

My partner & I went to the movies on a Friday night (which we don't normally do). Placed an order for onion rings, coke freeze, popcorn, pretzel and cheese dipping sauce. Not too much. The cashier informed us that you cannot order onion rings unless you order it with something else (like a burger). He wasn't even sure about it when he told us. Then he told us that the coke freeze we ordered, it was a "little watery", would we like a different flavor, so I ordered cherry. He went off to get that. He came back, and said they didn't have it , but they had blue raspberry. Not what I wanted, but I said "okay". He then told us our pretzel would be out in a minute, and gave us our cheese sauce. After waiting longer than a minute, he told us that unfortunately, our pretzel would be out in about 2 or 3 minutes. No reason was given. I can only guess the pretzel was given to someone else. By this time, the movie we were there to see had started. I asked to be refunded for the pretzel and sauce. The manager came out refunded me for the items. He did not look at me nor did he apologize once. The customer service at this movie theater is severely lacking. I will be eating before I arrive from now if they have this much problem with serving customers a pretzel! read more

Probably the best theater in Frederick, but not without it's flaws. Their "imax" is not worth the extra money. Normally imax theaters are huge, much bigger than your average screen. If you want 3D go for the regular and save yourself a few bucks. The price is probably it's biggest downfall. I am a huge movie goer, and I do go here, and will in the future. But I'm always hesitant to spend $10 for a matinee showing and still have to pay through the nose for popcorn and snacks. If you go to the movies at least once a month, get their rewards card. The free drinks and snacks are worth it (especially since its a free card), but the fine print of their free movies prevents you from using your free ticket on just about any big new Hollywood blockbuster that you want to use it on. It'll only get you in on stuff that's been out for a while or special showings of older movies etc. The seating is comfortable although a bit cramped (Hope you like the person sitting next to you). If you're going out on a date this place is great, especially with the location. After you get out you can go shopping or grab a bite at some of the restaurants around there. I love this theater even though the concession prices are totally ridiculous . I always bring my own food and drinks since the prices went up. Panda Express is a great alternative to candy and popcorn anyway. The theaters are always clean, the staff is very courteous, and seating is comfy. Sometimes though the ticket kiosks aren't working so I have to stand in a long line to get my tickets. read more

This is not my first time going to this theater, it is the only premier movie theater in town. Seats are older, but ok. Ticket prices have gotten a little out of hand. But what really got me was today. Went to see Star Wars and the movie cut out, critical moment, video feed is dead and audio still going. They finally got it cut off completely, Employee came in and apologized, said that the projector in this theater has been acting up all day. If they knew, why didn't they fix it? They had a few attempts at fixing it, finally got it running and restarted from where it cut out. Theater gave out tickets to see it again. read more

The theatre is functional and moderately well run; many of the workers are high schoolers on their first job, as is true at most theatres. The two security guards in question were working a second job to try to supplement income.. They followed every protocol in their actions. The gent from San Diego is way off base in his comments. The movie theatre did all it could to handle a cursing belligerent large adult; the caregiver was not there, the Downs kid had watched her leave to get the car and then snuck back in and refused to leave, then starting cursing and shoving.
