    Empty ticket stand
    Raina M.

It was a movie that was being released that I wanted to see and I hadn't been to the movies since 2019 because Covid kind of killed the nostalgia of going to the movies and I wanted to recapture that. So when I seen that the movie "Jesus Revolution" was showing at the theater I decided to go. First of all let's be clear that the location is kind of odd. It's located right off a K10 however it's behind a Holiday Inn, therefore if you're not familiar with the area you can drive right by it and not even notice it. But that's not the only reason why. The movie theaters actually has a sign saying Hollywood theaters, but it is actually regal theaters. I don't know why they have not changed the signage, but that can cause super confusion for people who are not familiar with the area. When I went to the movies in 2019 it was lit up, it had crowds of people and the ticket stands were full of anxious movie goers waiting to get their tickets, but since COVID-19, the tickets stand no longer operates it has been shut down. They put little decorations on the glass but you hardly see them because no one's even there. The crowds of people that used to come from all over the city to see a good movie, has dwindled to merely a faithful few that take the time to come out to see a movie now and then. What hasn't changed is the price of the tickets and the price of the food at the concession stand. You would think that after COVID-19 and how they've had to change their policies to accommodate that illness, that they would have included the price. But somehow that remained the same unfortunately. It is amazing to me that a bucket of popcorn and a small frozen soda came to $18 not to mention the $12 I paid for my ticket online. Besides the pricing I do notice that the theater is cleaner than it used to be. But this may also have to do with COVID-19 or maybe inflation in this country as a whole, considering that people just aren't going to the movies like they used to so that means there's less mess for people to clean up when the movie ends. I enjoyed my movie. I enjoyed my popcorn and soda but it looks as though with streaming from home, DVDs the pandemic and simply the rise of inflated costs of just about everything, I think the days of going to see a movie with the entire family is becoming a thing of the past. Will this place and other movie theaters survive? I don't know. What I do know is that when I feel like going to see a movie I will make that attempt because if I can relive the past of going to the movies and be able to savor the moment for a while, this is one of the places I will do so

A complete remodel of the area where you watch the movie requires I update my review. Gone are the small crowded seats where you feel like you're sitting in a miserable crowd and anyone in front of you checking their phones is visible. In their place, massive reclining chairs throughout the entire theater which likely means half the number of seats as previous. That's just a guess. Wide, comfortable, automated reclining and a rail to keep people in front of you generally out of sight in the upper rows means a massive increase in enjoyment. Mercifully, they left plenty of room for you to walk in front of others which I wouldn't not have expected. That said, some of the management issues observed years ago still exist. On Thanksgiving Day, peak movie time, the trash cans the floweth over everywhere. The bathrooms are sketchy and the floors messy in the bathroom. Some things never change. If I was rating just the theater viewing area I'd give it five stars, but the rest has sunken to a one-star, hence a three star rating. This could get a great theater, if only whoever ran it got their business (or insert other four letter word) together.

As you can see, there aren't ANY seats in the center of the theatre!

Who designed this movie theatre??!! I'm pretty sure a 15 year old could have done a better job. All of the best seats in the middle of the theatre (that would normally fill up quickest) have been replaced with the entrance and two staircases.

Nasty smelly ripped seats. Glad I didn't bring a black light.

My wife and I had visited just a couple of times before things shutdown and were worried how they would make it through. Before last night we had seen two films in both the Grand Screen theatre and one of the "regular" theatres. In both rooms the seats are incredible with power recline and leg rests. As a special treat for our anniversary last night, my wife and I decided to try the MX4D experience (seats with motion and special effects like wind, etc.) for the new Bond movie. It was a riot! I'm not saying I would like to see every film in that format, but for that type of action film it was perfect. When we arrived last night I ran into a good friend who wasn't even there to see a movie. Apparently on Friday nights they are using their big bar and reception area for free live music performances by local artists! Good on the folks who run this place for bringing this great facility to Topeka!

I finally went back for the first time for a late showing on a Tuesday night with my family. We had the auditorium to ourselves. It was still dirty from the previous showing with popcorn on the floor, a cup in an empty seat holder. They turned the popcorn machine off before 6pm when I bought the tickets hours in advance and kept popcorn a tin. The arcade area looks like it been closed for a few years. They only had two to three employees. The bathroom looks like a crime screen. I feel bad for the employees because they were all polite and nice. They are definitely trying to keep the building together best they can. I hope and wish Regal revisit this location and try to fix everything about this theater, especially the seats. When watching my movie, they felt like they were about to break! Pretty much what I'm saying is if Regal wants to get more people coming to this theater, remodel the building and try to complete with the only other competitor in town at B&B. Use a little bit of their playbook. Change the old ticket booth area which is no storage to a Bar. Add soda machines for the customers to use, get newer seats put in, bring back the life, the aura to the magic of the theater. Yes, I know people don't go out as much anymore, but B&B is pack almost every night! I understand if you can't if they only lease the building like the new (now abandoned) theater on 6th st. Still shock they close that one instead of this one. However whoever owns the building please bring life back to this theater and fix the parking lot too! Not saying you need a SCREEN X, Grand Screen, or 4D (although recommend the 4D) but bring back the feeling of going to this one.

This beautiful old building is surrounded by scaffolding so you can't really see its architecture, but I didn't see any renovation happening outside or inside, where the walls are covered with gorgeous murals, other detailed artistic painting, and intricate hanging light fixtures. The old-but-comfortable theater-style balcony seats are covered with red velvety fabric. It's a visual feast. However, renovation inside is massively needed, especially for safety concerns. When the lights were turned out for the films it was almost pitch black, with no modern-day dim "safety lighting"...not even enough to navigate if you needed to. And right in front of each balcony seats there's flooring maybe 1' deep for your feet to rest on (not enough), which then drops precipitiously almost another 1' to the next level of floor that you need to reach to walk in or out of the row! While this creates a clear view of the stage for every row of seating, it's very dangerous. To get into the row you need to step down to the lower section to walk across but there's nothing to hold onto except the arm of the seat on the end, and I needed the help of the willing hand of the kind person seated there to feel safe. The stairs to the balcony could accommodate 3 to 4 people across, but you have to be on the outer edge to have a hand railing. One woman tripped at the top of the stairs to the balcony and slammed very hard into the backs of our seats, and her popcorn rained down everywhere, including on us. I don't remember how wide the space is between that last step and the seats, but it seems there wasn't enough, or much demarcation visible between the last step and the floor. We were all rattled by the impact, the noise, and the popcorn, but she was able to get up with help and get to her seat. I'm do remember thinking it would be easy to fall there, and I was glad I wasn't the one who did! The main level has no fixed seats, just very uncomfortable-looking wooden chairs set up in rows. That didn't seem like a good time during a 3-hour film festival! There were two pretty decent bathrooms available on the that floor, and I was told there was one on the balcony level, but I couldn't see it. However, I wouldn't have even tried to navigate from the dangerous seating set-up in the dark to get to any bathroom! The only open concession area was on the main level, in a small dark niche, and unlike modern theaters, there was no food, just beverages (including cocktails), candy and popcorn. The high prices on those were the most modern thing in the building! The eight or so short films in the festival were all human-interest stories of one or more persons and their interactions with and adventures in nature. All were inspiring and interesting, all had some scenic nature and landscape views, and I think all included water elements. But none were quite what I expected, as I had learned about the "Wild & Scenic Film Festival" at a viewing of the stunning panoramic "Wings Over Water" on the Extreme Screen in Union Station in KC a few nights before. Wild and scenic nature at its finest! This fundraiser for nature and environmental causes was well put-together and organized by volunteers, and I think very successful, because as far as I could see, the theater was packed, and many people had attended it for years! Water One was the main sponsor, joined by many other generous partners. Raffle tickets were sold for one lucky person to win a large kayak, and everyone received a free ticket for a prize raffle with a plethora of good items, including several wooden bird and bat houses, nature-and-on-the-water clothing items, quality t-shirts and water bottles, and many more worthy prizes winners could choose from. I was one of many lucky free ticket holders, and very happy with my surprise gift bag containing a soft "There is no lemonade without water" t-shirt, a WaterOne recycled plastic bottle that claimed it "kept 1,085 plastic bottles out of the environment," and a small zippered clip-on pouch full of First Aid essentials!

It doesn't take away from the experience I have there but a decor refresh would definitely add a lovely touch. ### Draft Review for B&B Theatres - Liberty, MO…read more We visited the B&B Theatres in Liberty, MO for the first time today and, unfortunately, it will also be our last. On arrival, we were actually really impressed. The speakers in the parking lot were playing an amazing soundtrack from *Pirates of the Caribbean*, which got us excited and set great expectations for the experience. Once we stepped inside, though, things went downhill quickly. The lobby has some nice decorations, but the overall atmosphere was dark, stuffy, and a bit dingy, almost like the lights were turned down too low. On the positive side, getting our tickets from the kiosk was quick and easy, and the machine printed them without any problems. When we got to our seats, we were very disappointed. The seats seemed old and poorly maintained--one of them wouldn't even sit upright, and several of them had a strong, unpleasant body odor smell. It made it hard to relax or feel comfortable. Then the previews started, and we noticed right away that the screen seemed darker and slightly blurry compared to other theaters we've been to. We were seated on the right-middle side of the auditorium, and at first we thought maybe it was just the previews and that the actual movie would switch to a better projector or sharpen up. It never did. The image never looked "crisp" at all--definitely below the standard of other theaters we've attended. Because of all this, we requested a refund within the first five minutes of the movie. That process was more difficult than it needed to be. The manager and what appeared to be his superior were both present, but neither one acknowledged us or spoke to us, even after the cashier had clearly told them about our situation. They walked by without making eye contact or offering any kind of explanation or apology. The only person who treated us well was the shift lead, who actually acknowledged us and helped us get our refund. Given the uncomfortable seats, poor picture quality, and lack of basic customer service from management, we will not be returning to this location--even though it is the closest theater to our home. Based on our experience, I do not recommend this theater.
