This theater is fine, but Regal as a franchise has been making questionable decisions for years such as jacking up prices and increasing ad time before showings. We legitimately sat through 15 mins of ads before the previews even started. They also charge you a convenience fee to buy your tickets on the app, but at this location, you have to wait in the concession line to get your tickets in person. read more

Horrible theater. Sound problems in most of the theaters. Theater 2 has center and left channels and Theater 12 only has loud sound on the front right. Employees are clueless and slow. Plan an extra 10-15 minutes for one or two groups buying tickets in front of you. The manager is the only person with a clue. read more

did a repair on the roof on a 90 degree day and asked for a water after being on roof in direct sunlight for 4 hours. Movie Theater Great place to see a movie in Lynchburg. Located inside the River Ridge Mall it has stadium seating with really comfy seats and the theaters are pretty clean. Sound system was fine and bathrooms were clean as well. There was a bit of mayhem at the concession stand, so plan on waiting in line there. All in all a good theater. read more

Our family tradition for Christmas Day includes going to see a movie in a theater no matter where we are. This Christmas we were in Amherst VA so we went to the Regal Theater in Lynchburg. Upon arriving we thought we'd be in for a good experience . . . those impressions died within moments after standing in the most unorganized excuse of a concession stand. I could ramble on end about the poor drink selection (apparently management had neglected to pre-order CO2 tanks to power their soda dispensers, so our choice of drinks were Pepsi or Mountain Dew poured out of 2 liter bottles) or their inability to prepare hot foods that their signage was heavily promoting, but in the end their issue was poor planning & lack of management on what is one of the busiest days of the year for the theatre industry. The theater itself was clean and visually attractive, the seating was spacious and comfortable, and the movie showed without problem, but when the concession area presents the first impression of any theater, I can only advise . . . smuggle in your own snacks at this one and skip the chaos. read more

Place is nice. Concession lines too long and slow. Big tall guy with brown blond wavy hair in his face and in his eyes repeatedly brushing it back with his hand. This is unsanitary, risk of hair in food and cross contamination. Also against health department inspection. Very unhappy with our experience at this Regal Cinemas in Lynchburg. We're longtime Regal members at our local theater in Atlanta. We were very displeased at how we were treated at this particular theater. Employees were unfriendly and unwelcoming when purchasing tickets and concessions. When I asked for popcorn salt for my popcorn, the employee stated that they didn't carry it? He then told us we could ask the manager but he was just going to say "no." So they did have it, they just didn't want to give it out. They then told us we could purchase some of the nasty popcorn flavor shakers? We don't like that stuff. We already paid $60 between tickets and concessions, so what is the deal with giving us some popcorn salt?? The manager said that they had it but were not allowed to give any out, and that it was for cooking only? Umm? My local Regal has never had a problem giving me some. I will never return to this Regal when traveling trough Lynchburg, and we will be telling all of our friends and coworkers who come to Lynchburg the same. read more

I was given the run around multiple times by the two person staff I saw in the entire building multiple times about buying two tickets to a movie today. I had to wait in line for 15 minutes just to be told to switch registers and then at the next one after also waiting in line I was told I needed my ID to buy two tickets to a movie when me and my friend are both well into our twenties. All around the staff was not very pleasant and weren't helpful at all. Used to be a great theater but has gone downhill. read more

The move to get reserved seats at the concession counter is one of the worst changes they could make. It would work well if people where physically guided to the ticket kiosks with a helpful person there. The changes really jams up the concession lines. We got here a half hour before movie time and came to the ticket window only to find that we had to stand in line at concessions to purchase our tickets. Regal River Ridge - Cinema Near Me - Lynchburg, Virginia

There was an attendant carrying a red light that walked back and forth across the screen several times mid-movie. Considering that I have never seen an attendant in any other movie theatre come through more than once (if at all) mid-movie, I say without any hesitation that this distraction was absolutely unnecessary. I'm not sure if it's poor management (the theatre makes the employees do this) or just some loser kid taking his job WAY too seriously, either way, I wouldn't recommend coming to this theatre until they stop this movie-ruining practice. read more

I truly enjoy this theater, but my god why does it take 30 mins to get tickets on a Tuesday night? And why does the ticket kiosk stop working every other person. Why is there just one kiosk? First of all, the movie was excellent! That being said, minimal staff for matinee or they were all hiding. Joey at the food counter, which was also the ticket counter, was grumpy. I even tried to make jokes and small talk. Nothing. No eye contact, no connection, no manners. Example: I ordered our tickets. Asked nicely "are we good to order our food also?" His response, "what do you want?" Really?! When he went to get our popcorn my 11yo even said "he sure is grumpy!" They have reserved seats now. Meaning you have to pick your seats when you buy your tickets. Not sure what the point is and seems unnecessary. Joey obviously wasn't pleased with this either. The guy who took and tore our tickets didn't seem pleased to be there either but again I was overly nice and when I said "have a good day" he at least mustered a mumbled "you too." So we get to our seats and I sit between the kiddos. If you're a parent you understand why. Well then, because we had to select our seats at the ticket counter, a family came and sat right beside us in a half full theatre. Why sit on top of other people when the movie is not anywhere near sold out? One last thing, once the previews started we had someone come sit in front of us that smelled so strongly of cigarette smoke that we had to break out the inhaler for my kiddo. Now this doesn't directly have anything to do with the facility except I would have moved if I wasn't concerned about leaving our assigned seats. Probably could have gone to staff (if I could locate someone) and explain the situation and move but that would mean dragging the kiddos out of the movie and missing part of the movie that I just paid $60 to see. To sum up, the kids wanted to go see this movie and they had the day off of school. Next time I'll try to convince them to wait until we can rent it on Amazon. read more

I have watched two movies here in the past week and each time an attendant has been extremely discourteous. Stop coming in and fiddling with papers or standing around and just watching the film. You're holding a light that is distracting to begin with and you're standing in everyone's peripheral. I saw Ex-Machina and towards the end which is heart pounding, tense, and silent an attendant was fiddling with trash right next to the stairs. I'm so over it. It's not even a Regal issue, because I've been to Regal locations all over. I don't even live in Lynchburg anymore, but every time I visit there's clearly an issue with this location. I was told that this was the best theater in town. Certainly was as big, as shiny and just like what I would expect to see at any other theater located in a big city. The bf and I got tickets to see "It" a day before coming to this idiotic theatre. The whole purpose of getting tickets online is to not have to wait in line. Many people including myself have done this at other theatres that also are Regal Cinemas without a problem. But when my bf and I got here, we were told that even though we had gotten tickets in advance, we had to wait in a separate line that was for the movie that we had gotten tickets for. This place is outstanding! It can be expensive, BUT it is well worth the money spent, trust me. When you get your ticket, enter, and sit down to watch the movie, the seats are super comfortable! And the screen is Gigantic! When the movie starts, the sound is SO loud that it submerges you into the movie and puts the in the action of what's going on. The 3D movies are also incredible! You will enjoy your time here at this place. I absolutely love it here. It's like you experience the movie in a whole different way.
