We enjoyed watching the new Star Wars movie here. We did a date night and ordered our tickets through Fandango so we could just walk up and show the phone and we're in. Hard to believe these recliner theatre seats were around for years before others came about in town. A little dated but they still feel pretty good! It's nice kicking back and watching a movie with your honey so enjoy your next flick at the mall and relax.

I'm updating my review to two stars. This is because every time I come here this theater is filthy. There is popcorn, trash, and sticky stuff EVERYWHERE. The young staff work their butts off and there is never a manager in sight. I have to say these individuals are really friendly given the amount of people that flow through here, and it is evident that this place is understaffed. We come here because we enjoy the small intimacy of the theater and the larger seats. However, don't expect it to be clean, or to have top notch everything.

They need to fix and clean the bathrooms.

This is my first choice theater because of the reclining seats with two arm rests for each seat. Also all seats are reserved so you don't have to rush to the theater if you buy ahead (I always use fandango). They finally updated the women's bathroom (a bit) and have newer sinks/backsplash and finally paper towels (I hated the super old hand dryer). Also they have some really good (new?) staff who are super quick to get your food/drinks and tickets if you have to pick your seats at the theater and want to use cash. So an updated review with an extra star for the great staff. There is usually still a line for food so get there 15 mins early if you are going in the evening and want food.

Me and the friend to see xXx. Vin!

A bit of a hit or miss location. The recliners are very nice, but the cleanliness of the establishment varies greatly.

Very comfortable recliners and you can pick your seat! We sat in the second row and surprisingly it wasn't too close like a regular theater.

From the start, everything felt welcoming. A staff member politely asked the proper questions regarding my service dog, and I immediately felt respected and comfortable. During the movie, my dog became uncomfortable due to the noise, so I stepped out to take her to my car. That's when something stressful happened, my car would not unlock, the keypad was flashing, and nothing worked. I was honestly scared and didn't know what to do. I went back inside, and despite how busy it was, Juan stepped in to help. He went above and beyond, offering solutions, coming outside with me, and staying patient and kind through the entire situation. He even managed to help me get my car open safely without any damage. This was more than customer service, this was genuine kindness. I made sure to tell a manager because people like Juan deserve recognition. Experiences like this remind you how important it is to be kind and help others. Because of this experience, I'm even happier with my Regal subscription and will definitely keep coming back. Thank you, Regal, and please recognize Juan for his outstanding service!

But it's not even close to free anymore, if it ever was. We ended up buying a combination ticket (one of the two 30-minute shows plus the 15-minute show about th 1964 earthquake) for $11.95 each. That sounded pretty steep for 45 minutes of edutainment, but we figured that it was worth it to get some exposure to some of the Alaskan sights that we didn't get to see from our cruise excursions. But the quality of the films was mediocre. Of the two thirty-minute films, we chose the Journey to Alaska and Northern Lights Adventure double feature, but in retrospect we should have chosen Alaska Wild! since we were interested in animals. Our film played like a 15-minute infomercial for the Alaska Tourist Bureau (I swear, "Come to Alaska" was uttered at least a dozen times in various forms) followed by a 15-minute docu-mercial about/for some photographer who specializes in shooting the aurora borealis. Don't get me wrong--the footage in both films was beautiful; it's just that the narrative content was superficial and uninteresting. And kind of awkwardly commercial. I enjoyed the earthquake film better, although it is extremely dated. However, the content was interesting and I felt that they did the subject justice in the short time frame. A seismographer explained the physics of earthquakes and the geologic situation in south-central Alaska; several eyewitnesses related unique accounts of their experiences; and original footage and photography illustrated the terror and destruction of the event. The gimmick here is that the small grandstand lurches and shakes for half a minute or so during the show, to mimic the earthquake experience. It was fun, but it didn't add much, and I was kind of annoyed that the noise of the mechanism completely drowned out the film narration during that time. The earthquake-related displays that they have in the lobby help to flesh out the story of the event and are good for killing time until your show. The people are nice and they have a small snack/gift shop...but there are probably better and/or cheaper things to do with 45 minutes in Anchorage.

ANNIE AN ABSOLUTE FUN NIGHT!!!!…read more Last night I went to opening night for the musical ANNIE. There was so much laughter in the theater, along with pure enjoyment of the performance on stage. Opening night was full. The audience enjoyed every bit as did I. Sure it was community theater but much better than a night of TV or movie theater. Everyone who enjoys being entertained should make the effort to go. Not enough of Anchorage remembers what a gift we have in the PAC. It was built with oil money that rolled in during the late 80's. The PAC and the shows that are produced there are great gifts to our city. I cannot say enough about the young and experienced talent in this show. The artists that designed the sets used their talented skills to the highest level. They do so much with so little resources. The chorus talent was highly trained. They did not miss a beat. The amazing and talented Annie (a remarkable 13 year old) projected her voice right to us in the very back row. She led the production flawlessly while maintaining her A level grades. Please take the time and enjoy this show. You will get lost in the enjoyment of the play as time flies by and you emerge thoroughly relaxed, in a great mood and highly entertained.

If you're running late (like we were the last time) and you go in the main doors, you may find yourself being ushered in toward another set of doors adding to the already sinking feeling of being behind. A couple points to note: There are three theaters. The Sydney Laurence, the Atwood, and the Discovery theater. On several (but not all) doors there a list of what plays are where. The main doors lead to the Atwood. A side door around the side of the theater on 6th Avenue leads to the Laurence and Discovery theaters. Since I have now seen performances in all three theaters, I feel confident with all the remaining shows I plan to see. Just hope this helps everyone else.
