I don't normally write reviews, but this experience truly deserves one. This was only my second time at Regal Tikahtnu (I usually go to Regal Dimond), and I came because of the better movie selection. From the start, everything felt welcoming. A staff member politely asked the proper questions regarding my service dog, and I immediately felt respected and comfortable. During the movie, my dog became uncomfortable due to the noise, so I stepped out to take her to my car. That's when something stressful happened, my car would not unlock, the keypad was flashing, and nothing worked. I was honestly scared and didn't know what to do. I went back inside, and despite how busy it was, Juan stepped in to help. He went above and beyond, offering solutions, coming outside with me, and staying patient and kind through the entire situation. He even managed to help me get my car open safely without any damage. This was more than customer service, this was genuine kindness. I made sure to tell a manager because people like Juan deserve recognition. Experiences like this remind you how important it is to be kind and help others. Because of this experience, I'm even happier with my Regal subscription and will definitely keep coming back. I saw Regal Tikahtnu on the list of Regal theatre's set to close. Wild. We had to visit their recently built (summer 2022) 4DX theatre before it's gone! Besides the cleaning lights remaining on during part of our feature, (got free tix afterwards), at $20/pp, 4DX was a great experience. It reminded us of the simulated attractions at Universal Studios Hollywood. Everything seemed to be in working order. I didn't expect to be in continuous motion throughout the entire 2+hrs of the movie. I also didn't think unoccupied chairs would move and they certainly do. The movie we saw was action packed (Quantumania) without much water features as I'm sure (Avatar Way of Water) had. It was hard not to laugh and smile throughout. Cleaning could be better. Specifically a wipe down of the water off/on buttons. Hope this Regal Tikahtnu doesn't actually shut down. They also house our only IMAX, and RPX specialty theaters. read more

Haven't been to the movies in years and probably won't be back a soon. $89 for large popcorn and 2 large drinks and 4 adults. Preordered the food and drinks with the tickets then stood in the designated pu area only to be ignored. Had to get in the register line to get our stuff. Going to the movies has lost its nostalgic, better to stay at home and watch watch it on pay preview. read more

The theater and amenities for the theater were very nice and the staff was nice as well. However, the problem was staffing. We waited over 30 minutes in the concessions line before the movie and got our popcorn and drinks just before the movie started so make sure you plan for 30 minutes or more. The seats were comfy, but I would have loved it if they had some type of VIP option with option for chairs that lean back, theaters are really nice that offer that. All in all, it does the job of any other movie theater though and is a good place to go for friends or family to go see a movie. read more

Before the movie even started I regretted coming here instead of opting for one closer to home. The first issue was being told they were completely out of a collector popcorn bucket and cup and the only thing they had left was the most expensive option. As we're being told that someone next to me is being told they still have plenty and get given that! I asked the person helping me to doublecheck, they looked clueless, glanced around, asked someone walking by who had no clue what he was talking about (because he described it poorly) and when they went "what?" he turned back to me and went "yea we're out of that". I watched three people leave the line with what I asked for after I got out of line without anything, not even a regular popcorn or drink. When scanning the ticket there's zero guidance like at other theaters. We got to the theater, the last movie that played was at 7, the movie we were going to see what at 10, the movie theater was FILTHY! There was trash and popcorn all over all the seats. Plus there wasn't a single add or anything playing. We were convinced we went into the wrong theater. Unfortunately no. We wiped popcorn and candy off the seats, dug trash out of the edges of the seats, took cups out of the holders, and sat down. The worker Aaron did well handling 9 refunds even though there were confusions to where I had to step in and help figure out . He had no attitude whatsoever . Spending over $30 for two tickets, excluding any snacks? Okay, I guess, for a special night out. But YIKES, I can't believe how far price hikes have gone up. Especially when one considers the other pretty obvious source of revenue this place brings in: ads. The movie did not start until thirty minutes into the scheduled runtime. Thirty whole minutes of ad content, over half of which was not even movie trailers. I think patrons sitting in the seats for that long enduring ATNT, candy, car, and app ads is inexcusable when we pay the $30 plus dollars to even sit in the seats. I felt patronized and scammed. I already paid to be here, can I just exist without being told to buy more things, please? I know I can just show up to a movie ~30 minutes late and skip the ads. But I don't think I should have to, and risk not being able to find a seat. And also the floors were so sticky? Not like a singular soda spill: my shoes made noise every time I stepped on any part of the non-carpeted floor. I felt super gross sitting in that space. read more

Maybe I'm just spoiled after living in Mexico for four years, where one pays 1/3 the cost of an American movie theater ticket to end up sitting in a reclining, leather seat where servers wait on you. Here, you fend for yourself by waiting in excessively long lines to overpay for mediocre, oversalted and overbuttered popcorn before you eventually find you way to your cloth, non-reclining seat. The screen was huge and the volume was spot on, but this place needs a serious cleaning. I felt like I needed a shower after leaving. read more

I came here for the first time ever yesterday (Sunday), my usual theatre is the Cinemark. (I saw "Lamb", it's a movie I loved but...I really hesitate to recommend. If you like movies that are very slow paced, very weird, and very artistically shot...you'll love it. If you hesitated when I said any one of those three things, you will HATE it.) It reminds me of the movie theatres I "made out" (I'm an Old now, do the kids still say that?) in the parking lots of when I was a ripe 17 years old. Lots of bright neon. Mulit-colored glow on everything. This place looks enormous from the outside, but is much smaller on the inside. The biggest bummer to me is that the seats don't recline like the ones at Cinemark...and the prices are not accordingly cheaper. So...I don't know why you would go here? Another minor annoyance: you actually have to LISTEN, really listen, to the ticket-ripper. They'll tell you "theatre 12" and...when you get to theatre 12...you know that the little LED sign above it says? It says "THEATRE 12". NONE of them announce, y'know, the actual movie that is playing in them. Why? Just...why? read more

My son and I came to see a movie. He was wearing a costume. She said he had to remove the mask because of "school shooters". This isn't a school. I have been here for movie premieres for the big flicks and people come in full costume, masked and everything. I wouldn't have been so upset if she weren't so rude. She treated my 7 year old as if he were a criminal. I asked to see this policy in writing but guess what. This woman was as big as a house and couldn't STAND UP AND MOVE. Therefore she couldn't possibly assist me further. Why so mean? She needs to be talked to asap. Inappropriate to treat people so rudely for no reason. Especially children. read more

We go to Regal Tikahtnu a few times a year and was surprised to see I haven't reviewed them. We were there on for a Monday morning matinee on a holiday and it wasn't very busy. We went ahead and purchased our tickets through the app, which is easy but I think the convenience fee is ridiculous. Seems like you shouldn't be charged when nobody had to help you, especially when the ticket counter isn't very friendly to deal with in the first place. The last several times we have been, we just bypass the ticket counter and use the self serve kiosk inside, it's easy and there aren't any fees associated... again, makes no sense, but oh well. Customer service at the concession stand is mediocre at best. I try to always kill with kindness and it backfired this time, having to hear about how this kid had to work with new employees that weren't trained... blah blah blah. The RPX theatre was comfy. The chair backs rocked a bit, but they're not recliners, like the competition, nor are they heated... but as I said, comfy. read more

I saw Matrix Resurrections on a Monday night. It was nice how the theatre wasn't too busy, but it also wasn't very well taken care of this time around. The people were friendly and attentive. I got my snacks quickly and without soda dripping all over the place. I was a little disappointed with the environment though. When I went to use the restroom, none of the automatic faucets functioned properly; they would only turn on whenb hands are held far enough back that they can't get wet. It was extremely frustrating trying to get soap off of my hands with just the sprinkle or two of water that I could get at one time. The theatre itself was messier than usual. There was popcorn and drinks left at some seats as if there had been no cleaning after the last movie. My seat was clean, but it was still off putting to see old messes at other seats. Most annoying, is that there is a defect in the screen, almost exactly in the middle. It looks like it got ripped somehow, and it was distracting throughout the whole movie. Overall it was kind of a lame trip... I expect a little more for $30 at the movies. I'll come again but not much more if my experiences continue like this. read more

I'd give it a zero if this was an option. I bought tickets to the livestream of the Coldplay concert two weeks ago. Today, nothing on the screen and nobody in the booth 25 minutes after it was supposed to start. More than one person went to complain. Nobody seemed to know what was going on or to understand the urgency of the LIVE concert that had already started. At the 45 minute mark they came out and told us "they didn't send us the hard drive to stream the concert." I'm not sure that even makes sense. How does this even happen? You sold tickets to a show, had a theatre with people in it, but nobody is in the booth and you don't even have the technology? You literally had one job. The refund and two free movie tickets don't come close to compensation for what was missed. read more

7/3/23 - We went to see the new Indiana Jones movie and missed the IMAX showing at 5:30, so we got tickets for the 4DX 6:00pm. We've never been to a 4DX movie before and didn't know what to expect, but there should have been a warning on our tickets! It was like being on a 2 hour rollercoaster. It was incredibly rough with chairs shacking and jerking us up and down, punching us in the back, whipping our legs! It would have been fun with half that intensity, but as it was, I was motion sick the first ten minutes and I felt like I needed a seatbelt! THIS IS NOT FOR THOSE WHO ARE PREGNANT OR HAVE NECK ISSUES! Me and my husband felt beat up after seeing this movie. We overheard some other people talking afterwards and they had seen fast and furious 4DX and it wasn't half that rough. I tried calling the theater the next day to let them know how intense the settings were but couldn't get through. Hopefully they worked it out. read more

Been a while since I've been to the movies at a regular theatre like this, thought I should give a review. I purchased my tickets online and printed off the "ticket" so when I arrived I was confused as to the process since there was no signage referencing prepaid tickets. Eventually I found a girl standing at a table inside that was checking the paper. First time I've paid for assigned seating at a theatre as well, probably the only positive thing. The drawback I saw was nobody checking these tickets for age. Sitting i front of me was a group and teens that were obviously not old enough for an "R" rated movie, they giggled and talked the whole movie with every scene of any language or nudity. Otherwise, the food was overpriced and gross, the bathrooms smelled like piss, not a very good experience at all. read more

A great movie theater for Alaska. I think this is the nicest it gets all things considered. If you're here for a new movie it's probably a good idea to watch it on a weekday or arrive early. Speaking of new movies, theater #9 is pretty great. The seats are very comfortable and the screen is pretty generous. One thing I don't like about this theater is that if you have a question at the concession stand the employees usually don't have an answer and they don't even entertain the question....it's just a simple "I don't know". They seem to lack in customer service or people skills. Aside from that, this is probably the only nice movie theater in Anchorage. I recommend their rewards program since sometimes you can accumulate points for a few small drink, popcorn, or other things. read more

Excellent theater. Very friendly staff and all lines moved quickly. I would recommend coming early if you want concessions after you buy tickets. I stayed all the way until the end of a movie and they turned the lights on to come in and clean. I have been to many theaters where turning on the lights is not recommended. This theater was well kept and looked good. It's is obvious they take great care of each theater after each and every showing. I just moved from the lower 48 and I was bummed to see that Regal doesn't serve beer and wine up in Alaska. I wonder if or when they will institute that? read more

Our go to theater when we are in Anchorage! The IMAX theater is comfortable with high quality chairs! Regular theaters are also above average. I find prices to be fair, especially at the food stand. My last two visits have been very disappointing. The lack of customer service at the concession stand is less than desirable. Mostly young kids who lack direction and forget why they are there. The counters were sticky and dirty. Behind the counter was dirty, also littered with popcorn and seasoning. Seven people behind the counter and only two registers assisting customers. I was standing in line when the kid dispatched the customer in front of me then just walked away and didn't come back. I had to jump in the only other line open and wait my turn again. The napkin dispensers were empty, garbage cans full of garbage with gnats flying above. Once in the theater my assigned seat was not clean . I thought the previous visit was just a busy night , however I pretty much had the same experience tonight, on a Sunday at 5pm. read more

I don't go to the movies like I used to and usually when I do now I pay out the nose for luxury, but what I found was that this far north you get what you can and I was pleasantly surprised to get more than I bargained for. I don't normally do 1 stop reviews on places, but I was on vacation. That midnight sun was out, confusing my senses. I bought my family tickets online knowing Suicide Squad would likely sell out and Jason Bourne might be the overflow. Neither was the case, but I'm glad I bought online anyhow. I wished there was signs saying that self serve tickets need not wait in line. It was moving quick, pleasantly quick, no rush at all. It's slower up here. Price was meh, but I'm used to watching moves by myself or with 1 other person, not 6 people, so with food and drinks it twinged my brow. IMAX, 3D, they had it all. All the usual snacks. We got red vines, large popcorn (layered butter people, if you take nothing else from this review), sour straws, reeses, and a few drinks. Bathrooms were super clean and not jam packed after movies, probably because our theater (7:30pm on a Thursday) was 10% filled. No crying babies, no rude talkers or texters. An excellent experience. Regal has always been for me the standard cinema experience, with only the latest places being exceptional and this one is exceptional. I'm surprised that every critical thing most other posters wrote about, I had the exact opposite experience. Might have had my vacation glasses on. read more

I came in here today to see Allegiant, the newest film in the Divergent series. As far as seating and concessions go, this is better compared to the Century Theater on 36th St. The place was not too packed for a 1PM on Sunday. I like that they have the self-serve kiosks for movie tickets in case you don't feel like standing in a long line. The concession stand here is more reasonable price-wise and the menu is more varied than Century. Pizzas, cheeseburgers, jalapeno poppers, onion rings, and hot dogs are priced anywhere between $4.00 to $7.00. Another plus is that they serve these hot after placing your order. Century has similar items but they keep them under heating lamps for anyone to take so chances are it may be cold or stale depending on how long it's been there. Those same items at Century can also be as much as $11.00. (For cold and stale food!) This is why I always use the coupons I get from Century's website for free food or drinks. Regal Cinemas also has a similar arrangement with classic film showings like Century although Century shows them more frequently along with independent or art house features. The classic films range anywhere from Back To The Future, Indiana Jones, The Ten Commandments with Charlton Heston, Apocalypse Now with Martin Sheen, and countless others. Regal only shows these once on Sundays usually at 2PM rather than Sun. and Wed. at Century. Free food, drinks, or movie tickets are determined by how many points you accumulate with the Regal Crown Club Card. They have added some new special offers with the points. On Regal's website, you can redeem those Club Card points for movie memorabilia. With enough points, you can get free t-shirts, movie posters, keychains, baseball caps, and other collectibles on movies that come out every Friday from Batman Vs. Superman to 10 Cloverfield Lane to London Has Fallen to Deadpool and many others. You can get the Regal Crown Club Card simply by asking for one at the ticket booth by the entrance. I know there are a lot of movie enthusiasts here on Yelp and this would be a great idea for a UYE. I'm in constant communication with fellow Yelpers down in San Diego and they hold these events for every big movie release that comes out on the weekends. Hopefully, the same can be done here in Anchorage for anyone to share their love of movies as well as food. read more

This theater IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS in Anchorage. The IMAX is fantastic and you can just feel the vibrations in your seats, however, it comes with a hefty price tag of $17.50 per ticket in prime time showings. Keep in mind, if you go to the first showing of the day all shows (not imax or 3d, unsure of price here) is only $6.00 a person. This includes the weekends :) So if you can get yourself to a 11-1200pm showing then you got a new movie at a super cheap price! There seats are so comfy, you can sit back in them and rock in them. The screens and sound are great. This is my go to theater for new movies if i'm on the east side. The other theater with recliners gets my attention a bit more :) read more

I have to say I enjoy movies yet the place just went down hill. I go to the movie and tell me what makes a difference if ya wear a mask in the lobby yet you don't have to in the movies. Makes no sense yet all this mess don't anymore. Just not that I get a drink not once but twice the soda I got wasn't good. When I tried calling they don't pick up. I just left the place getting a refill and it was empty. Tell me how you don't pick a call up when your doing nothing. All I ask is to fix this mess up. I normally like this theater quite a bit, but the last couple showings I have been in, there has been a bulb about to die in the projector. This results in a blinking/shuttering sort of image when the screen is even moderately bright. It is incredibly annoying to sit through. Here is to hopes that these issues will be quickly resolved, as the whole theater was groaning about it coming out of auditorium 8 viewing Black Widow on opening night... read more

Located in the new mall-ish area with Target, Kohl's, Best Buy etc., this huge, grand cinema complex just opened. It's on the north side of Muldoon, near the Native Heritage Center. In fact, this whole complex was built by the Cook Inlet Regional Corporation, which is one of 13 Native Corps. in Alaska. The cinema is almost as beautiful as the Native hospital. It's by both Fort Rich and Elmendorf, too. A sure winner! The architecture of the outside of the cinema is really impressive with Tlingit or Haida sort of architecture. I think I saw totem poles but I may be wrong. The whole structure is so massive I was sort of overwhelmed. It looked like one of those massive Indian casinos in the lower 48! (I'm dreaming). You pass just inside and you can stand in line for your tickets OR if you go in past the ticket line, thru the second set of doors, you can actually buy your tickets at a self-serve kiosk inside. There are about 5 kiosks. **That's an insider tip for sure if there is a long line "outside". ** The concessions are the usual, i.e outrageously expensive. I saw that a little plastic dish of nachos will set you back $6.50. Since me and the kiddos were there prior to June 24th, as part of the grand opening, we received free small popcorn and drinks. The small are huge. So another insider tip - just buy the small size unless you have an enormous appetite. The small drinks had to be 24 oz. The popcorn is the usual theater popcorn and "small" was about as large as a microwave bag! We saw Shrek in Real 3D. IMAX 3D would have cost us over $20 each. With the matinee Real 3D I think it cost us about $50 for the 4 of us with one "child". It was a special treat for my daughter's 13th birthday. ( I was afraid 3D would make me sick as I am notorious for puking in the most bizarre locations, so I took a couple Dramamine ahead of time. I was fine.) Being a matinee on a Monday afternoon, we had the place to ourselves. So we can't speak to crowd control or anything like that. The seats were high backed and reclined slightly. The place is so new - I had to pull down the cupholder/arm rests for the kids. I had to use both hands to pull them down they were so stiff! We might be the first ones to use them!! The movie was good, the sound was good and not too ear deafening. Restrooms were clean and awesomely pretty with lots of marble and tile and stuff. I have one complaint thus the 4 stars...there was no place to sit in the food concession area - no place to put your purse down to jockey an armload of drinks and food. No little cafe table and chairs. They need them. I told the boy taking my tickets and he laughed and said, "they are coming." This is a nice theater and a great addition to the east side. It's close enough to the valley and Eagle River to draw in people from all over. It should be a great success. read more

Checking inside purses now? Really? You have really gone beyond the bounds of decency and reasonable profit protection when you stop my fiancé and our two boys in order to look inside her purse. To treat her like a shoplifting suspect in front of our sons is absolutely unreasonable and overreaching - and what does it look like to the boys? After we spend $40 in tickets and another $20 on food and drink, it's ok to stop someone and look INSIDE their purse? I cannot stand this "policy" and I will NOT go back here, and I'll make sure other people hear about this ridiculous practice. read more

Overall I think this is a nice cinema complex. I have seen about 5 movies here so far and I'm happy with almost everything. I also agree with Susan B. and Geordie about the concessions moving slower than molasses going uphill.. The prices at the concessions... we'll just make sure you bring some kind of product for your backside because they are going to stick it to ya. I think a small drink was 4.75$. You do get free refills on large drinks and popcorn so if the first 5000 calories didn't please you head on back.. Trying to look at the screen(menu) and read it fast enough makes the concession line even more painful. We saw Harry Pooper in IMAX and for 17$ each I really didn't see much of a difference that I now need to see all movies in IMAX. Save your money.. I did see Jackass in 3D but not in IMAX and really enjoyed it. I was nice to get a decent pair of glasses and not the folding cardboard ones.. If you bought your tickets online or if you want to save time skip the line and just inside the door are the automated machines where you can print your online tickets or buy tickets with your credit card. Most people don't know about these yet so try it out and skip the line before the word gets out.. There is also a video arcade in the lobby for some reason.. :o) read more

Regal's new movie theater, the Tikahtnu Stadium is the best in Anchorage. Period. Century 16 used to be the only place you could watch digital movies, let alone 3D movies but now there are a couple of other screens out there. Tikahtnu is all digital. Did I mention it also has an IMAX Digital 3D? No, but I think I just did. The IMAX screen is the best movie watching experience I've ever seen outside of a theme park or similar. The bass rumbles your chair and you feel it in your body. The screen is massive, larger than my apartment complex. The chairs are great, not La-z-boy chairs but good enough. Crystal clear and the glasses they issue are comfortable on your head and don't give you that feeling that you need to rub your eyes after twenty minutes. I don't want to watch any movie anywhere else but here. With that super aggressive display of positivity, let me roll right into the negativity. If you don't live on the east side of town towards Muldoon it's a bit of a ways off. Not too terribly far but if you are running close to show time that extra traffic will beat you down every time. Make sure you are there early. There is ample parking but there is also a lot of people there. In the winter, you might be ice skating to get to the door. They also don't have a lot of box office people manning the ticket counter. Buy online, print and have them scan them at the door. Technology is your friend. Concessions suffers from the same terrible method of approach and ye shall be served. Century 16 has the buffet line were you can move ahead to the cashier while others are serving themselves - that way those that are brain dead zombie can waste all the time they want deciding if they want butter or not. Here is where you will burn up all your time, waiting behind families that couldn't organize a group hug let alone figure out what they want to have during the movie.
