Do not take your animals here. I left mine here for a few days happy and healthy and returned to sick, filthy, dehydrated dogs. My smaller dog neck was crushed while in their care. I had to have him put to sleep. They could care less. Not even a response from them. read more

We've taken our dog there many times for grooming and boarding. We've never had a problem. They do get booked up on the grooming so you have to schedule a week or more ahead of time for an appointment during busy times of year. read more

While visiting friends in Maine, I offered to pick up their pet who had (for the first n last time!) spent 2 nights at Refreshing Paws. Upon entering this establishment, I was completely overwhelmed by the smell of animal excrement! "Refreshing" it was NOT! And then, to elevate the offensiveness of this place to an even higher level (a bit redundant at this point), there is a sign proudly displayed to alert customers to the fact that the owners plan to insult you further by stating they are "politically incorrect" and if you don't like their point of view, you should leave! I brought in my Great Pyrenees for a grooming and wash on Saturday morning and by afternoon it was like a had a new dog, the fur was fluffy, clean and they even put a little pink bow in her hair. It was evident that the staff really cares for the pets they serve. I would recommend this to anyone. Andy L. read more

Took my Pomeranian to get a hair cut and grooming. As soon as she was home I was disappointed in the cut as it was very uneven. We will be touching it up. In addition, when we got her home we noticed that one of her nails had been cut too short and she was bleeding everywhere. We also found what looks like dandruff all over her skin. She has never had skin problems before but she won't stop licking her paws and indicating that her skin is dry and irritating her. I feel like we spent $60 to have our poor senior dog put through the ringer! Will not be returning and will certainly not recommend. read more

I've been using Refreshing Paws for several months now for doggy daycare. They have been very accommodating with my work schedule and my dog comes home happy and tired every day after being at daycare. Refreshing Paws is also one of the more affordable daycares in the area. read more

Where to start? Refreshing Paws was recommended to me by a family member who had been bringing their dog there for years. After researching kennel prices in the area I was pleased by the prices Refreshing Paws had to offer and booked my pup for an 8 day stay. I requested 2 walks a day along with puppy playtime for an extra charge. My husband and I had never left our dog before so we checked in by calling the facility twice (every 3 days) to see if she was okay. Both times I called I had asked if "she was okay and having fun" and you would have thought I was disrupting world peace by calling. The girl who answered was seemly annoyed by us happily checking in on our dog and she said (with dozens of loud screaming barks in the background) "shes fine and shes been eating her food" the call basically ended with that both times. We didn't want much just a happy voice to let us know someone there cared about the dogs well being with their owners were away. This made us feel bad and worry about the dog further. When we went to pick up the dog we were greeted by an unfriendly teenager working the front desk who couldn't be more disinterested in her job. We were not charged for the extra walks or the play group we requested which made me think they did not care enough to provide those services for my dog. I didn't press the matter further I just asked them to get my dog from back. When my dog came out she immediately had a terrible cough. I asked the girl if she was coughing all week she said no that's the first time she heard it and its probably because shes was excited to see us and pulling on her leash. We went home and the coughing continued..painful..loud..foamy coughs. We brought her to the vet immediately and she had a fever and was diagnosed with kennel cough. I called the facility to 1. Ask if anyone noticed she was sick 2. Wonder why they didn't tell us as I had called twice and 3. Inform them they were infected and should do the proper cleanings. The teenager said she would have her boss call me back. I missed the call a while later but listened to the voicemail left and was even more frustrated by the owner who had a disrespectful tone and said dogs get kennel cough even if they are vaccinated. I didn't bother calling back. Yes I understand dogs get kennel cough but my problem is that nobody noticed or cared enough to 1. tell me 2. get her medication. How many days did my dog suffer without antibiotics? That brings me to today..months later from the incident I brought my dog to be groomed because again the prices are exceptional and my dog would only be there for a short period of time while I ran an errand. The groomer was very friendly and did a nice job however my dog has had vomiting and diarrhea the past two days since going there. I have to assume the "bug" was picked up there. Bottom line this place is smelly, dirty, unprofessional and unpleasant to say the least. I will never give them my hard earned money again or risk my dogs health. I will happily pay the extra money to bring my dog to a more refined facility where they actually like dogs. Maybe the Department of Health should pay a visit soon? read more

Not a returning customer was not very pleased I wouldn't recommend taken cats they're supposedly I had my cat shampooed and brushed out I don't think they did it?? She was wet that was about it ,normally they clip their nails so they won't get scratched ,her nails were not clip?dropped her off at nine in the morning ,had to wait till five to pick her up ?they said they wanted her to be dried before I picked her up? She was still quite wet at 5 o'clock the towel in her crate was wet? She was Real quiet in the pet carrier on the ride home which isn't normal for her I think because she was so uncomfortable being wet and not brushed out, so when I got her home got her out of the pet carrier she was still wet ,she look like she hadn't been brushed out very much either so I took a comb and ran it through her coat lot of dead hair, so they made some pretty easy money for me $50 worth I will not be going back . I would not recommend anybody to take a cat there, they did a terrible job. I think I would think twice before I took a dog there also??????? I should have taken her out of the crate right there in the little office and could've confronted them about the work that they didn't do, i've got a feeling that they probably left her in the pet carrier all day, that's why she was still wet when I picked her up??? So I hope other people will read this that have pets that they love and to search elsewhere, for grooming !!!!!! Megan is the best dog groomer. She does an amazing job with "doodles" in particular. I wouldn't take my Goldendoodle to anyone else- I recommend her to anyone that asks! read more

Refreshing paws has an awesome doggie daycare! My dog can't wait to go there. Even after I kennel him there for a few days he can't wait to come back. The owner and the people working there are the best. They are always friendly and I can tell they love my dog. When I kennel my dog and there are other dogs being kennel that go to doggie daycare, they let them play together even tho' doggie daycare isn't open for no extra charge. I also had my dog groomed there and I love it when he comes home with a bandanna. I recommend Refreshing Paws to all my friends. I couldn't be happier here. I never worry about my dog. I know he is being well taken care off. read more

My 3 rescues (2 Brittanys and a 'blend') go to Refreshing Paws to get groomed 2 - 3 times a year.I work from home, so normally they are with me 24/7, but they enjoy the 'spa day' with Meghan, and when I see them, they always look adorable, and smell so good! I wouldn't take them anywhere else, as Meghan does such a great job with them. read more

Dirty. Smelly. Old. Worn it. Tattered. No fresh air. I took my two cats there for 2 days. I had no choice and I dreaded it. The employees seemed nice and that's about it. They line cat boxes w newspaper and sprinkle a small cat food can's worth of litter on it. That's it. One star because they kept them alive - though both came back with upper respiratory infections. read more

Friendly staff, however, my dog and my cousins dog were actually hacked with the shaver/razor, and the owner blamed us! actually tried to say the dog came in that way! and as a responsible pet owner, no way did those wounds happen at home.
