I was in Detroit for a staycation and chose this spa for its facilities (e.g., pool, hot tub,…read moreetc.). It was really nice to just drive up and get free valet since the spa validates it. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and helpful. Check-in was smooth and they gave us a little tour to orient us before guiding us to the locker room. The changing area could have been bigger, but not a big deal. I like that they separated the hot tub by gender so it felt more private - when I used it, I had it to myself. The pool area was nice with different comfy seating options but it was a little too warm in the room itself so kind of uncomfortable to just sit and relax without going in the water. The music was also a little loud, probably to help drown out the sound of people talking. It didn't really bother me too much but this shared space was definitely not a quiet zone - there was no enforcement for loud talkers. I also wished they had more than just cucumber water, as most other spas I've been to offer tea or a specialty refreshment. For services, I opted for a custom massage. It was just ok - I was surprised she didn't ask me about pressure at the start, but to her credit she did lighten up when asked. It's pretty great that you can book any service and enjoy the facilities all day (with no time limits). I would definitely come back!

When I complained about these things the management tells me my friend and I were banned from returning which was a blessing because neither of us were coming back anyways. I just had a pedicure, but I really enjoy the whole spa vibe. My nail tech was very friendly and did a good job. No spa jets in the pedi bowls; good. I will be a regular and can't wait to try more of their offerings. Customer service is great - the woman who booked me was super friendly and even moved my appointment once with late notice. Love it here.

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Sylvie's today, contrary to what many of the reviews…read morehere say. I came to Sylvie's for a Brazillian wax. I've gotten several Brazillians before from a variety of locations. I have moved a lot, so I am always looking for new places to go. I chose Sylvie's because of its proximity to my home and availability. Unlike other people have said, it is SO easy to get to, and I was able to make a same day appointment! I am leaving for a trip tomorrow and it was important for me to get this service done today. I called Sylvie and she answered and was incredibly accommodating and able to schedule me in for that afternoon. Sylvie's is right off of 12 Mile Road, and the address is clearly labeled on the unit. I found the place with no problem, and was able to walk right in. I was 15 minutes early to my appointment, and she made me feel comfortable as I waited. The room was very clean and very professional. I am shocked to read reviews about Sylvie's negative personality because I did not get that feeling AT ALL. She made me feel very warm and welcome, while maintaining a professional front. While she did the service, we chatted and I found it very interesting to learn about her heritage. She did a fantastic job with the wax and paid attention to detail. I really don't understand all of the negative reviews. I am very happy with the result of my Brazillian wax. Like I said, I have gotten many waxes before from many places and Sylvie's ranks at the top of my list. I look forward to visiting Sylvie's again when I am back in town because she really did an incredible job. I would have no hesitation recommending her to everyone I know. It saddens me to read all of these poor reviews about such a wonderful place. As a real customer that attended Sylvie's today, I wholeheartedly recommend giving this place a try, like I did. I will undoubtedly be coming back to Sylvie's!

I as well as the other ladies purchase a groupon for $55 for two Brazilian waxes. I have paid more…read morefor one at other spas...so why not? WRONG!!! I'm going to start point by point so bear with me: 1. Location- the spa is located off of a residential street in pretty much an attached garage. Not hard to find but, not my idea of a "day spa". The room itself appeared to be clean, but as mentioned before the paper towels and the sheets was just alarming to me. Like paper towels on you bum at a day spa? Im not pretentious but geez 2. Scheduling- Sigh...ok so if you put yourself out there in the land of Groupon you should be prepared for the boom of business..or at least I would think? Scheduling an appointment with this woman was worse than trying to claw my eyes out. No kidding. She was "booked" all the time even 3-4 weeks in advance, she was so far from accommodating. I finally had to play phone tag with her to schedule both appointments, for my last (which was yesterday) I had to slowly explain to her that people work jobs. I work 9-5, no weekendsI'm free on Saturdays. When does she have time to take my business? She seemed annoyed that I wanted to even come back for my 2nd appointment. Because I don't have time to keep going back and forth. I ended up making a 6:30 PM appointment on a Monday. 3. Bedside Manner- excuse us poor American for not being French, Sylvie is such a French nationalist I wonder why she even is living in the US. But I suppose we are good enough to pay her bills and come to this dreadful day spa. She spoke to me about not wanting a "large" man on top of her, why are American's so fat and closed minded against different foods, oh and why won't Obama alleviate her issues paying her school loans? This woman is a nightmare. Waxing is bad enough but her conversation is even more painful. She is so abrasive and rude. 4. Ambiance- there is none. I can't even begin to comment further. In a nutshell, please don't come to this spa. I beg you, even if the groupon deal is amazing. She is literally a nightmare to deal with. I am not even saying this to be mean, but she has to do better. She abuses her clients and will be going out of business if she doesn't change her ways.

I hate that I have to re write this review after a year. Last year I went in for a little "me" time…read moreaway and booked an appointment as I've been to this salon a couple times before and had amazing experiences. This time was not. I booked a sugar scrub/ massage and a facial. My scrub/ massage was not good. I got the scrub for 15-20 mins then went to wash off, when the girl came back in, she lightly rubbed me down in oil. My services were done 20 mins early (did have to wait for a bit for her to come back in after washing off the scrub) When I was done, I asked them does the massage not come with it anymore? The lady that gave me my services as well as the manager on duty both said oh no just a light rub down. I did tell her I was done early as well which I got a discount to 88$ for that service (88$ for a 20 mins scrub ok?) I did write a review which the owner Frank called me personally to find out what happened. In said call he did offer me to come back when him and his wife were home to get the service again on them and he would have his wife do it, so it was done correctly. So now I am here writing this review. I wanted to take my bestie for the scrub/massage for her Christmas gift and figured since I have the free one, I will join her (we always go together anyways) We are just booking for May 9th as with life this was the only time we could get in together. Well Frank just called and said he did not offer me a free one and that I got a discount that day. I said OK sure I got a discount but 88$ for a sugar scrub ok whatever. He made it seem like I needed the free service, I don't I can pay for myself but when you are offered a free service for the service you didn't get then to now turn around and change your mind and say you don't remember saying that, is crazy to me. He made me happy in this time so I would take my original review down (which I did after speaking with him as I thought he was making it right, guess not) Needless to say, we have now cancelled our appointment, and we will not be returning to La Vida Salon again!

Today, I decided to visit their spa. I sent an email to book appointment the same day and in a span of five minutes I got a call from Frank to arrange the schedule. I am so glad he accommodated us for the service. I was able to booked a couples massage and also scheduled a hair appointment for me as well same day at 2 pm. Since we are only visiting Windsor for the weekend. For my hair, I chose to get a Balayage, a technique that gives a subtle, blended look. My hairdresser, Marianne, listens to what I wanted for my hair & she. gave recommendations. She spent a good 3 hours on it, and I must say, she did an incredible job, she took time and focused, I like the way she is being nice. The result of my hair service was a balanced and softer look that I loved. The business owner also checked on me from time to time. Next came the couples massage, our first time at the spa. It was truly fantastic, especially for my husband, who experienced a strong Thai massage from a skilled practitioner. My husband was so happy with it. But unfortunately with my massage therapist, I find it is an "ok" service. I would say from 1-10 points , I will give her only 6 points because she forgot to massage my both arms. I had didn't quite meet my expectations like the full body massage. It lacked the desired pressure and technique, leaving me feeling unsatisfied and tense afterward. At first, She was not able to introduce herself, I find her timid and not friendly. The ambiance at La Vida is upscale and the salon feels above average. Clean and smells good inside. They have different rooms for various services, which adds to the experience. While the cost is a bit on the higher side, the top-notch service of the business owners / reception host , my hairdresser and one of the massage therapist who is from Thailand justifies everything. Wifi: Free with password Parking: If you are a new customers like us . There's a few parking spots in the back, a metered front street parking and I think the side streets is a free parking. Overall, we had a great time. I was thrilled with my hair and the massages were simply remarkable. We're definitely planning on returning to La Vida spa and salon in the future. This salon is highly recommended.
