I have never gotten a massage before and I had the BEST first experience I could have gotten. My massage therapist was super kind and talked me through everything because I was nervous. Went for a "girl's spa day" with 3 friends. All 4 of us had massages (3 signature and 1 deep tissue) and 3 of us had the signature facial. Everyone was very impressed with their services. Just returned from resort and spa. I was lucky to have had one of the Best Massage therapists ever. She was amazing and very Professional. Lets just say my last massage in Illinois by a male was frightening. A family member had a massage at Reflections also. The man was very professional and provided a great service. My husband booked the rejuvenation treatment for me, and told me he paid full amount and tip in advance: massage, facial and mani/pedi. They told him to have me there 30 minutes early for my first 9 am treatment. I showed up at 8:30 and there in no one at the desk. At 8:50 a harried lady shows up to the desk and tells me that my person isn't there yet, so she starts making phone calls. Someone comes to get me at 9:02 for a mani/pedi. No tour, no robe, no slippers, and mani/pedi first - weird, but I just roll with it. After my mani-pedi, she says I'm done and ask where to go for my next treatment; she is surprised and says that someone should have put me in a robe and slippers, but takes me to a waiting room anyway and says someone will come get me. 30 minutes later I go to the front desk to the harried lady again and ask her about my schedule. She says she can't find a massage on the schedule but I have a facial scheduled after another half an hour. She says she doesn't know why things were scheduled so far apart. I ask her to explain the facility to me, and she just stares at me. So I directly ask if there are hot tubs or spa facilities I can enjoy while I wait. She says no and suggests I go upstairs in the resort to the coffee shop until my next treatment. I'll admit - by now I'm super annoyed. While getting my coffee, I call my husband and he says he's paid for a full package in advance, including tip, and it should include a massage. So I go back down - harried lady says she doesn't see anything besides the facial and it doesn't show as paid. So I tell her that I want to cancel the facial since I don't want to wait and I don't think a facial and mani-pedi should cost $350. I just want to pay for the mani-pedi and leave. She clicks a lot, gets frustrated, and then asks me to swipe my card for a $140 dollar mani-pedi. Wow! She then charges me the full $350. So she has to call in a lady from the back to help. New lady shows up and first tells me she can't refund me because the harried lady already removed things from my file, the 11:30 facial AND a 12:30 massage that has suddenly appeared, but then she figures something out, refunds me and charges me the $140. Of course the refund will take a few days to come in. She says there was, in fact, another card on file for payment, but it *shouldn't* get charged. Let's see what happens, shall we? Overall, a TERRIBLY frustrating experience, highly priced, and a completely inept front desk person. UPDATE: They did end up charging my husband's card. So we are out $700 for a mani-pedi. Talked to the director this morning: no apology, just excuses for the new lady at the desk. Then we were told that we were charged again because I cancelled services within 24 hours so policy says we have to pay. I'm pretty much at nuclear level on this whole place. My friend and I had very disappointing experiences at Reflections Spa on January 26, 2019. We were having a girls weekend and staying at Kohler Spa but because of how busy they were, we were unable to book more than a massage and we wanted to get some additional treatments. The weekend activities were a gift from my friend's husband and myself to her as she is one of the busiest people we know who somehow manages to take care of two children, work full time, write medical books and just be amazing and we wanted it to be super special. I did a little research and came across Reflections and was able to book two Vischy shower treatments. I had requested something that would be the most hydrating and moisturizing for our skin because with this winter weather our skin has been very dry. This was their recommendation and I booked our appointments. The receptionist was extremely nice and pleasant and through the whole process was nothing but understanding and kind. She showed us around, to the co-ed changing area and where the separate bathroom was. We were then in the lounge area until out appointments which were booked one after another. I went first and was not sure what to expect but was led to a room with a plastic table with towels on it to lay on with a movable arm with multiple shower heads off to the side of the room. The towels were not warm or large enough to cover the length of my body (I'm 5'3") and the room was cool for my comfort level. I had to ask the therapist twice before she got me a towel to cover my exposed feet as well to help keep me warm. The first step in the treatment was to massage a sugar scrub on my body. This was done with very minimal pressure and did not feel exfoliating at all. The therapist did not apply any of the product higher than just above my knees on my legs and did not go onto my hands, chest or neck. The shower then goes on and washes off the scrub and now it is time for lotion. Again, this was applied with very little pressure and no product was placed higher than just above my knees, very minimally to the chest, and none to the neck or hands. I asked for lotion when she was done to put on my hands. I thought the massage therapist was very nice and pleasant but her technique was very unsatisfying. I told my friend who was waiting for her treatment after mine what my experience was and she had a very similar one except that the therapist didn't do her feet but did do her hands! I did not feel like I was exfoliated, nor did my blood circulation feel enhanced and my skin was not rejuvenated as this treatment was advertised. We have had many different spa treatments and understand this is a luxury. We also work very hard and I do not like not getting the value I expect and this spa did not meet my expectations. We told the receptionist about our experiences and she was, as stated above, very kind and seemed concerned. She said she would let the spa owner know of our experience and I asked that she have her call me. I paid the bill and they had a mandatory 20% gratuity they charge. My friend and I then went to an ULTA up the road and bought a sugar scrub there and used it in our hotel bath and our skin then felt amazing. So what I paid $360 for, we did to ourselves for $10. The spa owner did not ever call me. I called again a few days later, spoke with the receptionist again, who again was lovely and helpful, and she said again she would let the owner know and have her call me. It has been almost two weeks and I'm pretty sure I am not going to get that call. I am disappointed that this is how a business would be run. The spa inside a nice resort like Blue Harbor should be much better run and you should get a much better outcome. I would advise anyone considering this place to go somewhere else or just go to ULTA and buy something you can do yourself. As an aside, they also played the same six or so Enya songs on a loop...became annoying and not relaxing by the end of our time there. read more
