I was nervous about my first Brazilian but after going to Glow, not only do I know that I will keep getting them, I know I will only be going to Glow for this service. Unfortunately, I can't remember the aesthetician's name now (it was several weeks ago that I went, and I'm due back shortly) but her manner and kindness put me at ease about the whole waxing process. There's something to be said for a woman who can put another at ease about putting hot wax on her bits and then ripping the hair off using said hot wax - but this woman was not only able to calm my fears but also kept me chatting in a way that helped distract me enough to look forward to the end result without stressing too much over the process. I ended up getting a "modified" Brazilian and was charged accordingly - not full price since I didn't get a full Brazilian. I appreciated that despite the fact that she put in so much work and time (30 minutes!! - I'm used to going in, getting the skin, hair, and wax ripped off and being off the waxing table in under 20!), she only charged me for a partial Brazilian. Many salons wouldn't modify the price according to the customer's needs, only their own. Waxing is very Machiavellian - the end has to justify the means because otherwise it can make for walking funny, in grown hairs, and embarrassment, not to mention pain. The Nufree wax is gentle enough, although I had a surprising reaction to it, I think that was more me than the product (since I've had it used on me before with no problems). The aesthetician also provided me with a small sample of lotion to help with in-grown hairs and any irritation that would arise. I was incredibly impressed with her thoroughness as well as her kindness. I'm looking forward to going back to Glow, despite the masochism of getting waxed!

I find myself constantly irritated by the upsell, and marketing that the majority of other day spas in Gilbert and Chandler try to push on their clients. If I'm getting a massage I want to relax, not listen to your sales pitch about joining your member club etc. 2. The whole experience from reception, to service, to payment made me feel welcome. The relaxed professionalism of the staff reminds me of higher end spas I've been to around the country. 3. They offer services that are uncommon for chandler/gilbert, and this makes the day spa experience much more interesting. I found Vivid through groupon's now-deals a few months ago, and despite being close to home I would have never known they were there. The office was confusing to get to.... there aren't any signs from the road and it's in the middle of a little complex.

I was offered water and quickly completed the necessary form. The waxing specialist was nice. She had an outstanding personality that made me really comfortable which is great since it's a fairly intimate service (depending on what you're there for). The facility was extremely well kept and clean. The only reason I didn't rate a full 5 stars is because I did discover a few spots hair was left when I got home. When paying the higher costs for the service, I wouldn't expect to find any missed patches and there were a few. Overall, I'd give them another try due to the friendly and comfortable atmosphere. If I walk away again with missed patches, at that point I'll explore other options for waxes but I'm optimistic that next go around will be better.

I had my nails done on September 4th, and just two days later, on September 6th, one of my nails literally broke while I was sitting in my car. I had not hit it or done anything that should have caused it to break. Since the salon is close to my workplace (although I do not live nearby), I scheduled a repair appointment for September 8th during my lunch break. Unfortunately, September 8th was also closing day for our new home, and my plans changed unexpectedly. I had to leave work early and had my belongings with me, so I was unable to call the salon to cancel my repair appointment. I completely understand being frustrated that I missed an appointment, and I take responsibility for not being able to call. However, I tried to explain the circumstances when I came in, and I felt there was very little compassion or understanding. What was especially disappointing was the attitude and energy I received from both the front desk and my nail technician. From the moment I walked in, the interaction felt cold and uncomfortable. The front desk employee seemed upset with me because I had not answered their call while I was dealing with the closing of our home. I understand that they had tried to reach me, but I was in the middle of one of the biggest and most hectic days of my life. I would have appreciated some understanding when I explained what had happened rather than feeling like I was being treated as though I had intentionally disrespected their time. I want to make it clear that I have always enjoyed the staff at this salon. I especially enjoy catching up with two of the front-desk employees -- the gentleman and the girl with the long curly hair -- and I've always felt welcomed by them. That is part of why this experience stood out to me so much. The energy and attitude I received this time felt completely different from the experiences I've had with them in the past. What was even more frustrating was that this repair appointment was an inconvenience I never should have had to make in the first place. I had just gotten my nails done four days earlier, and the nail broke on its own without any impact. I have never had an issue with missing an actual appointment or not showing up, and I have always made the effort to be respectful of the salon's time. My appointment was scheduled for 12:45, but I was not taken back until around 1:30. I was then told that my nail technician had been booked for another appointment because I had missed my repair appointment. I was already there during my lunch break trying to have the nail repaired, so I would have appreciated being contacted beforehand if they were no longer able to accommodate me. I was also charged for the repair. Normally, when I have needed a repair, I have not been charged, so given the circumstances, the charge was especially disappointing and made me feel as though I was being treated differently because I had missed the earlier repair appointment. I understand that businesses have policies, but I would have appreciated clear communication about the charge and a little more understanding of the situation. I work in healthcare and deal with appointments and cancellations every day, so I completely understand why policies are necessary. At the same time, we also understand that unexpected situations happen, and we try to hear our patients out and show compassion when they do. I was hoping for that same level of understanding as a longtime customer. Unfortunately, after this experience, I won't be returning. I'm not leaving this review out of anger, but because I believe businesses should know how situations are handled from the customer's perspective. I genuinely enjoyed coming here in the past, which makes it disappointing to leave feeling this way.
