If you are looking for a great place to find new saltwater-exotic fish than this is the shop! Steve who is the owner, is very knowledgeable about his fish and his tanks! If you have a question he is the guy to ask. Also I can say in full confidence that the fish my fiance gets from here are of great quality. They do not get sick with ick or become problematic like we have experience with other fish shops. If for some reason that does happen in a long shot Steve will help. This shop has a large variety of supplies for your fish tank including food as well. We always get our fish food here and no where else. Its worth the drive and the fish love it =) The fragment tank is always stocked and never disappointing. Which is why whenever I go in the shop with my fiance it could me we are leaving with more than we thought. There is a really awesome zero edge tank in the front of the store located near the live rock area. If we didn't have a giant tank at home I would want that one! I love the seahorses as well they are so darn cute! If you are in the area than just take a look and stop by, it is worth your time to check this place out!! Best place to buy fish. The guys are knowledgeable and have an awesome variety of fish they carry.

Steve sold me on using him to set up a large saltwater aquarium. I bought my aquarium from him and hired a guy he recommended to build a custom stand. This is where the problems started. I had some ideas with regards to a pump and a sump and Steve pushed back hard. He is the expert so I ended up going with his recommendations. Steve got harder and harder to reach and/or get an answer for the design of my system. He texted me and said I do not work for free. I texted back that his quote included a $750 charge for his expertise and to plumb my system. His response is that I should not dangle money in front of him. I did not use him from that day forward. The Sump story: At one point he had promised to design a custom sump and then wanted to charge me a high price for for the drawings. It literally took me 15 minutes to draw up the sump. I found a guy to make the sump but thought $3000 was expensive. Steve said that was the going price. I looked around and found a local guy that sold custom sumps nationally and he said he would do it for $800. I told Stave and his response is that SOB. I have sent him a ton of work and yet he will sell directly to you. I was surprised at his remark and that Steve knew of this guy yet he did not go to him. Oh by the way, this guy did intricate drawings of the sump for free. Furthermore, Steve said $3000 was a fair price yet a local guy quoted 75% less. Steve sold me a tank for water mixes that he did in the store. It was only $25. What a deal. Actually it was a horrible deal. It was caked inside with old salt. I followed Steve's instructions and bought bathroom cleaner to clean it out. Only problem is that It cost me $80 in bathroom cleaner to get all that old salt off the tank and it took me half a day of soaking and scrubbing. I would have been better off buying a new one for $120. Steve is a nice guy and he has some nice stuff in his store. That being said, if you are building a system and need help then I would shop around. read more

Great fish and coral selection, always healthy. In my opinion gets some of the coolest fish, not the everyday stuff you see in PetCo or other local fish stores. Has a lot of cool aquacultured corals and a wide variety at good prices. I've bought everything from livestock to tanks, equipment and Neptune products. This is hands down the best Marine Reef store in the Naperville, Aurora, Plainfield area. Its a little small, but has a decent regularly refreshed selection and the store owner is one of the most helpful and friendly shop keeps I've ever met. He worked with me to figure out the right tank for the space I had, and supplied everything including custom built custom panels for all my electronics and Apex system, and made custom built floating light frames for my Ecotech lights, all so cool. I have been doing business with this shop for approximately 10 years. I have always been impressed with selection and quality of livestock they have. The owner Steve is not only knowledgeable, personable and honest he is also more interested in you succeeding in the hobby than just making a quick sale. I have been to other shops in the area that I have either felt like I was a bother to the staff or the other extreme, like I was buying a used car and the staff were following me around pushing me to buy something. Steve ( the owner) has a very prolific array of corals of all types and a brand new 450 gal tank to display some of them in. In addition he has a large variety of exotic fish. If he does not have what you are looking for he will try to get for you. He has high quality products but in addition he is a great resource and is always ready and willing to answer any questions you may have. His staff especially Matt are also very knowledgeable unlike your typical staff at other big box stores.. His shop is small but excellent and his expertise seems right on the mark.. He has not lead me astray yet!!! He is also always ready to help to help out in the event you have an issue with your tank or fish.
