We went to Koi for the first time last night and I was pleasantly surprised by their food…read more The restaurant was pretty busy for a Wednesday night but there wasn't a wait for a table. The service was a bit slow but it seemed they were short staffed. We got: Shaomai: 4.5/5 it's good but a bit pricy compared to other spots Dandan noodles: 3.8/5 it's good but wasn't peanuty like others Walnut shrimp: 4/5 good but I think it could've been crispier Popcorn chicken: 5/5 loved the price and crisp! The restaurant is cute and has a nice cozy vibe about it with some Asia decor.

Our group had six people in it and for it's size, overall I felt the table service was minimal and very hands off. In fact, several times, a member of our party had to get up for a few things. An empty bottle of sake slipped off the table onto the floor, thankfully did not break, and no one even came to see what the noise was about. Having said that, the interactions with staff that I did have were friendly and helpful. When the check came, it of course had an automatic twenty percent tip included, so I guess the staff figures they are covered either way. The food overall is good, it's more the cost of everything is just so high these days it is a turn off. I am not sure you really feel the value return for the money you spend these days in a restaurant. I feel you get more bang for your buck cooking at home these days. So as I said previously, I would try to take advantage of some of the happy hour deals.

I really enjoy this local establishment for plant needs! They have porch items (and even live…read moreanimals like turtles, fish, and birds) here, but I was mainly here for the plant nursery. It definitely feels extensive and organized with sections for soil, different climates/plant needs, and grade of plant. The indoor plants I've bought here are mostly doing great if a little neglected from my own care. We ended up planting some of the outdoor plants too early, but the quality was great overall. Given the late last frost date here, I would just wait to buy outdoor plants in the spring. The parking lot is extensive, and they have several community events as well as opportunities to host birthday parties for any age. Staff were really helpful and efficient at the register.

What a unique place! When you drive up you don't even know it's a nursery based on the outside, but…read moreas you walk in, there's more and more to be discovered. I by not means have a green thumb so I appreciate all of the fun facts and tips and tricks they were posted on now to keep some of the plants alive. When you first walk in, you see all types of soil snd. Will notice different sections of the store. We stumbled upon the furry friends, hamsters and guinea pigs as we were looking at the cacti's, then that led to the bird aviary where folks can donate to interact with the birds. There are so many of them. We then heard a waterfall and walked towards it and got stopped in our tracks by buddy the turtle next to the koi pond. It's literally like Narnia here. We walked through all of the plants and found the party room. So fun to hear that they do events and folks can paint their own pottery before planting in them. While walking around none of the staff really interacted with us so we didn't really know where to really find what we were looking for, but that's okay because the adventure was also really fun. Overall a great experience, highly recommend for anyone looking to build their garden.

Wow, after going to the Japanese Gardens in Portland I was excited to visit the Anderson Japanese…read moreGardens and it certainly did not disappoint. From the parking lot, this spot may not look that huge, but this spread out between 12 acres of well designed and maintained land. These gardens feature everything from waterfalls to streams to buildings to ponds to bridges that look amazing even in less than optimal weather. As someone who visits a good number of gardens per year, I was impressed with how intentionally the gardens are designed. That is, I can see that thought was put into the placement and direction of each plant in the garden, and approaching the same spot from different directions can yield a different experience. This is evident in how some plants are only visible from a certain direction, so that your experience in entering and entering the same garden can be different. I also enjoy a very circular theme across the gardens, where you can see different things like a waterfall or bridge from multiple different angles, each yielding a slightly different experience. The parking here is not too difficult, even when it's busier. Because of the size of the gardens, there's also a fairly good amount of space to spread out even on busier days. But if you want a more tranquil experience, you may want to come during less popular hours. Overall, worth a special visit if you live anywhere within 2 hours of Rockford. The gardens are impressive and well worth a visit.

We saw and fed lots of animals including koi fish, a crane, turtles, and a chipmunk (my guy's first time seeing one).
