I have an aquarium with two canister filters. I submitted a request for a quote from this company…read moreand David who I assume is the owner called me right back. Rather than just emailing me and letting me know that they only service aquariums with fish or sending me an email saying that they do not offer this service, he went out of his way to personally call me to be condescending and rude. In my submission I explained that it was a turtle aquarium, the rest of the tank was clean, I just needed someone to clean the canister filters which have an algae/bacterial bloom. (This is an easy job that I've never paid anyone to do for me in my 15+ years of being an aquarium owner) He calls me, asks me what I'm looking for (even though it's clearly stated in my submission form). I tell him again what I want. He says he doesn't work with turtle aquariums. I asked "How is this different than cleaning a fish aquarium?" (since it's literally the same canister filters you use on a fish aquarium) feeling a little exasperated at this point, not understanding the difference between my canister filters and a fish tank's canister filters (for aquarium people reading this I have a fluval f4 and an Oase canister filter-like literally the exact same brands you use for fish). Why did he even call me if he didn't do the service? He says very condescendingly that "because it's really disgusting and -that's why you don't want to do it.," in a super rude tone of voice. I don't know if it's because I'm a woman, or if he felt like lecturing someone who doesn't take good care of their tank, who knows, doesn't matter I guess. The reason I haven't been able to clean my two filters is that my mother just died from leukemia and from December until her funeral which was two weeks ago I was one of her main caretakers. So yeah, my personal drama is totally not this guy's problem, whatever. But why go out of your way to be rude to a person when you could literally have just not answered or sent a quick email to say no? My aquarium is really nice and I take great care of it. I'm literally just too busy right now (and obviously dealing with some serious personal stuff). I needed someone who knows how to clean a canister filter. Idk seems pretty straightforward to me. I was mad and sad "no it's because my mom had cancer, I don't want to work with you." and I hung up. Not a great response from me either, I admit it, but like wtf. I would literally pay someone like $200 for this super easy, straightforward service just because I need the help very much right now. Even though my filters are quite dirty which I mentioned in the submission form, they work fine, I take good care of them. Should be an easy job, it's something I typically do myself very often (even as a woman- I know it's hard to believe but we can do things too). Like, why? I literally just asked for a quote. Why go out of your way to be rude to someone? I'm guessing it's because I'm a woman? Maybe because I live in the city? I don't know what this guy's problem was. I would avoid this guy unless you like being talked down to by a condescending possible misogynist. Again, yeah I understand that my personal circumstances have nothing to do with this man and I'm EXTRA sensitive right now. I guess my point is you never know what people are going through so (especially as a business owner lol) just be nice or just don't bother interacting at all.

During the call the pricing was explained and I was told the Veterinarian prefers cash. This would have been $650 in CASH to hand over while holding my dead cats. I explained I did not want to pay in cash. There was a hesitation and then the response was we will have the Vet reach out to you. An hour later the Vet called and we scheduled an appointment for Saturday afternoon and she asked me, will you be paying in cash? I said no, again a sigh and well I will have admin call you to collect the payment. Later that night I received a phone call requesting the $650 payment and I said I would pay a deposit but I preferred to pay the whole amount via a credit card the day of the service. I was told that's not their policy but I would get a call back later that night. No call back. Thursday late afternoon they called back while I was in a work meeting and I didn't check the voicemail. After picking my son up from daycare, dinner, bath, bed I go to check my message and at the same time these people are texting me. Essentially the message was confirming I was paying cash. When I responded saying I wasn't paying in cash they called me....at 10pm on a Thursday night. I am screenshotting this text exchange and yes I was upset. My cat is dying a slow death and this company is soulless. I get this is a business for them but there are other ways to go about it AND what kind of PROFESSIONAL service insists on their clients paying them in cash.

They told us the cat was around 2 years old, and had allergies. Long story short and a shit ton in vet bills later.... Shes closer to 4, she has upper AND lower respiratory infection, damaged voice box, double ear infection, and eye infections. We've been through a batch of meds already with no improvement. So, now we're at the point were we have to either put her down, or spent another $1500 on more test to even find out what else is wrong with her. We tried to contact them in regards to this and their only response was pretty much, shes not our problem anymore and all sales are final so we wont take her back.
