    It's very tough to find an honest mechanic isn't it? I know I've come across my fair share of…read moredishonest ones over the years. Finding out that someone has ripped you off completely can be a very stressful discovery. Say you go to a mechanic for an MOT and he fails your car and suggests £350 worth of work that needs doing. He then takes his £45 up front for the MOT test and "strongly suggests" that you get the work done at his Auto repairs shop. If you go somewhere else and get another quote or repairs, you can come back to get it retested without any additional MOT test costs. BUT, it's highly likely he/she might fail it again and suggest more repairs just out of bitterness. Eventually you find a mechanic who treats the car as his/her own and suggests cost effective ways of geting the job done with your circumstances in mind. For example there's no point you spending £90 on a wing mirror for a car you plan on part exchanging when you can get it repaired for £10. This is a family run garage with great friendly service. I spent a few hours at the here while they serviced/MOT'd it. Normally I do this to keep an eye on the job being done, keep them on their toes. You get it done quicker that way and they don't procrastinate. On this occasion though I found myself merrily chatting away and getting to know Yassar, Hamza and Ali. What a great bunch of young lads! The three were cousins and varied in terms of mechanical experiance, but the banter and enjoyment they got outta their work was inspirational. Whilst there, I also saw how people treat these mechanics when they come in for MOTs. I was frankly shocked by the obnoxious nature of some people who weren't very subtle in hiding their attempts at looking down on these highly skilled and knowledgable individuals. I began to see why so many mechanics are always moody and evasive. All of these revelations made me appreciate these guys even more. They were just happy to have a customer who actually asked them how their day was going. I shall be coming back here for my MOT from now on and reassured them that I'd spread the word. So there...I've done it.. So don't be put off by the secluded nature of this place, or the fact that it looks rundown and a bit grimey. The service is very good!

    I bought a fiat 500L (15 plate) in April at Hyde, Manchester . When I offered to buy the car which…read moreI subsequently did, I noticed that the inside of the car was covered in dog hairs, smelled and had two scratches to the bodywork. They assured me they would deal with these matter. Few days after I bought it, the car start to smell of wet dog. I looked better the interior of the car discovering the unimaginable. The car was so mess, dirty and smelly something to make anyone shudder. Also I noticed a big issue with the body-paint that it was impossible to see before because when I picked up the car it was raining. Basically when they sorted the matter with the scratches the car wasn't fully masked and the remaining paintwork was coated with overspray. When I went to the dealer they assured to sorted this. there followed three attempts by them to resolve these matters but on each occasion it was unsatisfactory. On the first occasion I waited a couple of hours while they tried to clean it and deal with the body-paint issue but nothing changes. they booked one-day repair service. When I returned for the second time I left the car for a full day but when I went back still nothing change. I asked the refund as me and my wife wasn't happy about the condition of car. The manager Sam intervened asking the reason of my decision. Again I showed the damage to the bodywork and the matter with the dog hairs and the smell inside the car. I showed also a video and a lot of pictures of the car that the manager decide to book a five days repair service and I and my wife was assured that they would clean off the overspray, take the seat out , wash and dry and re-put the back seat on ( the main matter with the smell). After five days I visited the company, I still had to wait as they said it wasn't ready. However once finally I saw the car I clearly hadn't been dealt with. Under the consume right 2015 I asked for a return of my money because I was still in the 28 days rule by law. The salesman Mark said I would have to wait until the manager returned from his holiday. I asked If I could buy another car instead but was informed that the value of the car was now £1.5/£2k less than I had paid it less than 3 weeks earlier. I left the car to dealer as I didn't want go back with an unsatisfactory car. The following week I rang the dealer asking to find a solution as I needed a car. After few calls he said they were not prepared to refund the cost of the car as they were satisfied about the car!! I was also told that if I didn't came for the car they would start to charging me a daily parking fee. I felt at that stage ( I needed a car) that I had no option but only to pick up the car). I can accept to had a bad deal this time but I cannot accept the doggy games of the dealer. Go there for a repair and not find nothing done. The other annoying thing is how it is possible that a big motor group like Stoneacre can actually sell a " bin of s***t " like this. also It was funny that one of the salesman replied to me saying what do you expect from a car of three years old, my answer was so simple that he disappear for a while." When I count my money on that desk the money wasn't smelly of wet dog". Anyway after few days I bought from EBay another seat set which I swapped by my self. This gave me the opportunity to clean the car properly as it needed . What I found inside was disgusting, which only makes anyone think of throwing up. As soon as I will have a chances I will find someone to fix the matter with the bodywork ,But Don't worry Stoneacre we will see soon I bought with the car the 5 years warranty so we will have a fun later on. Ps I need to book an appointment as the air-con doesn't work as should be matter that is remind to the manager in the emails.
