Plenty of seating, although for some reason many sections were empty/closed off to fans. Lots of food and beverage here, but my gripes are no cash, only cards. Not a fan. As for beer choices, it's all light beer. Mass produced Bud products, which I would rather drink tepid pond water. Parking - unless you arrive very early on a Nationals weekend, you'll be parking far away and walking a long distance. Even handicapped. No shuttles to be found anywhere. Food prices are a little high for burgers, sausages, etc. but what isn't nowadays. (Example $12 for a footlong corn dog. $15 for a ten inch Italian sausage. $8 for beers) As I said earlier, lots of walking. We parked on one side of the track and our seats were on the other side; meaning a long walk all the way around the track. One nice thing is you can walk all thru the pits and meet drivers and crew. Take pictures, etc. Oh, one more gripe was I could not reach anyone at the track via phone or email to ask questions. An 800 number directed me e to be a NASCAR ticket service. They gave me another 800 number which referred me back to the other number. My email I sent was never answered. All in all, not a completely bad experience, but it could be much better. Bring hats and sunscreen! You can park and tailgate if you wish.

We had our wedding at the train depot a few weeks ago. I will never hold another event there. Don't…read moreget me wrong, the place is beautiful, and it was the right size for our event. We had the worst experience with Peggy and her "assistants". The first time we met with Peggy she was very nice and willing to help us make the day perfect. After we signed the contract that all went away. We met with her a few times leading up to the wedding. Her story and pricing would change every time we spoke with her. She told us the contract was out of date and that she does not go strictly off of the contract and that it was just a formality to hold our date. We were told the price we owed which we were fine with. Then the week before the wedding she wanted to meet with us again. Her and her assistant tried to charge us over double the agreed upon price. She was the one who told us when we could get in the Depot the day of the event given the price we paid (Goes by hourly). She told us to come at 2:30pm and then charged us an extra $100 for it. Things she told us came with the rental price we paid she quickly tried to turn around and charge us for. She was very rude and unprofessional. They put together a timeline for the wedding day which was completely opposite of what we had wanted. It only gave us about 10-15 minutes for our ceremony and only 20 minutes for pictures. They were rude when we told them we needed about 20 to 25 minutes for the ceremony, and more time for pictures. Our vendors have said they do not want to do weddings here because of her rudeness and unprofessionalism. She told me for months that they do all the setup, that I was to bring in the decorations and do 1 table to show them how I wanted it and they took care of the rest. The day before the wedding comes and we set up a table and Peggy was so rude to my mom who worked hard on decorations and told her "you don't expect me to do this?". She was nasty about it with mom and told her that there will be a fee if we set anything up. That was not in the contract and Peggy had been telling me for months that this was just something they do. Peggy made so many disrespectful comments about our decorations. We were contracted to have the building until 11pm. At 8:30pm the air was shut off and they were trying to push us out the door. Many of our guests have told us they saw her drinking our beer for our guests. She has posted pictures of our wedding without our consent (and yes, I checked the contract). We contacted the city to get this addressed and they just give us the run around saying meetings are scheduled and we will get a call back within the next few days. We have called multiple times and just keep getting the run around. It is a shame because the money is used for events downtown, but to deal with this kind of person does not make it worth is. She was a nightmare to work with. NEVER AGAIN!

Day of race the usual parking was too muddy so they funneled everyone to a dirt track parking across the street. However, across the street, I found a paid parking $20 cash, which saved the headache of the line of cars to and likely after the event. Prior to this, the parking situation already caused a two hour delay on the backroads there, meaning I arrived practically there and the last two miles took almost two hours, such a crawl. Regardless, my point being, plan ahead. I made it in time for the event so that was good. Anyway, the event itself was fun. The speedway is huge, and a ton of vendors stretching across the ground level in both directions. Plenty of food options and merch vendors. In the grandstands, I sat within the first 30 rows, which was great. Post race I did explore the length of the stands and it seems like really any view is great. I brought 3M earmuffs, and glad I did. I value my hearing and thus still enjoyed the event while protecting my hearing. The only thing I couldn't hear well through the earmuffs was the commentary yet I don't care much for that anyway, in exchange for enjoying the rest of the event. Overall fun event, and well run operation. They had shuttle buses help get people to and from that overflow parking lot.

We had a great time even though the weather was on the crazy hot side. We really enjoyed having Joyride there this year. The last time we went this was not an option and the bus rides were hot and long. I think all races if they don't have them now should do this. The camp sites were fine, the only down side was that it was so hot it would have been nice to have the option to shower in the middle of the day. The shower hours were 6am-12pm and 6pm-12am. We had wonderful neighbors and it was not loud in the camp area past 11 or so. The negative side of having a Hot pass are that there is no shade or barely shade to hide from the sun when you are in the infield. We did find a tent that had some AC but you could not see the race or pits from this area. Second negative thing is there is only ONE place to get food from if you are in the infield. Many other tracks have a larger selection of food to choose from. The line for food was extremely long.

The site said to show up about an hour early but with parking and the shuttle it's probably best if you show up earlier than that. We got there an hour and a half earlier and we barely had time to register and check gear. The obstacles were okay, not too tough to maneuver but there's a lot of bottle necks because of them. The fitness level of the participants are all different so some have more difficulty than others but everyone can do it. The fairgrounds area was way packed which is to be expected with all the people there. The free beer we had with our participation was pretty good, Pyramid is a decent brewery but the process to get it seemed a little too complicated. You expect to just go to the beer tent but then they direct you to another tent and get braceleted and then come back. All in all a fun outing and if you sign up early enough a fairly cheap outing. Looking forward to next year!

It was good knowing ya, Yelp shirt, Nikes, shorts, undies, socks, and beach towels. You will be missed. My car is in critical condition, but I think she's going to make it. I had so much fun yesterday with my fellow mud butts Sean D., Candice G., and Brian K.! Candice and I were reeeally close at being first place for the 2:30pm wave. (They gave us a head start at 1:30pm) Finding Dollinger Farms and check-in was a breeze. They had traffic cops and everyone's packets were alphabetized and ready to go. Highly recommend making your friend with a Jeep or 4WD be the designated driver. Evidently the obstacle course starts in the parking lot. Young and old, athlete or asthmatic, the Warrior Dash is set up so you can pick the level you want to push yourself. Running isn't really my thing, but I love climbing, jumping and swimming through mud, I chose to take my time through the paths and have fun doing each obstacle. Definitely wear shoes with tread. I made the mistake of wearing shoes with no traction and it felt like I had stepped into an ice rink on the mud hills. Wipe out! Mud-1, Dana-0. Grab a walking stick. It helps. If you'd rather take your time, it's OK. If you want to compete for fastest time, that nifty free beer token doubles as a timing device you tie to your shoe. As you cross the muddiest part of the race, the finish line, you will be up to your eyeballs in a pit of mud. Makes for an interesting after party. The dirtier you get, the more of a right you have to cheer/boo the next wave of warriors finishing the race. Then get your viking on with music, beer, and turkey legs. We had enough free beer tokens passed to us from the other friendly warriors to last all night. Alas we were mighty sore from pillaging and the wet earth was crusting on our skin by the minute. The only thing I wish they had was more places to at least rinse my hands, other than standing in line to get blasted in the face by freezing cold water from a fire hose. Until next year m'lords!
