He is very judgemental when it comes to haunted houses and I was surprised to hear no criticism out of him. This was my second year attending. We went on a Sunday and only waited 20 minutes to get in. It was raining but they kept tents above everyone waiting in line. The rain didn't stop the party from happening. Actors still ran around frightening guest. The DJ was pumping jams the entire time. They sell food, drinks and merchandise too but be prepared to spend quite a bit. The haunted house was full of detail and each room had something special to scare you to the fullest. We were in there for a while. Sorry, I couldn't keep track. I was terrified lol. Definitely got our 45 dollars worth. Then after almost loosing my voice and feeling relieved that it was over, we were guided to the second haunted house. Yes I said it, A SECOND HAUNTED HOUSE! and it's already included in your admission. The second one is a 3D haunt with glasses. Very trippy. Full of balloons and confusion and CLOWNS! MWAHAHA! Try to avoid Saturdays in October. One of the attendings working the line said there was a 4 hour wait. I remember that too because I went on a Saturday last year. And avoid coming here drunk on your ass. They won't tolerate drunk or high people who are causing scenes. I saw them kick out lots of people in line who were making a ruckus. I gave this place 5 stars because it deserves it. Their haunt is one of the best. Try to avoid Saturdays unless you don't mind the long wait. Although waiting in line is definitely half of the experience. Dress warm and wear comfy shoes. Bring extra spending money for food, drinks, and souvenirs. Avoid bringing kids under 12 unless they love scary things. Don't pay for parking at the casino, there's free parking a block away. Definitely the best haunted house in Illinois!

I told him my hair is naturally curly and he said "you're a natural liar". To me that was not entertaining, it just felt hostile and hurtful, not funny. It turned me off from this experience big time. Almost every actor inside the haunted house was screaming and it got very repetitive. I was hoping to see some more interesting or clever acts, not just screaming in my face over and over.

Dollinger Family Farm checked all the boxes, so we gave it a shot. I'm so glad I did because we had a very positive experience. We arrived on a Saturday right when it opened to avoid crowds. There were others there, but distancing was so easy. There were signs everywhere about wearing a mask and there was also a hand-washing station. We noticed a lot of other farms that are an easy drive from like Chicago did not take this pandemic seriously at all, so we loved supporting a farm that did take it seriously. We looked a bit at the animals--so cute!--before heading over to look at the pumpkins (AKA the main event). They had a tractor set up with a bunch of assorted squash for the perfect photo op. Then, pumpkins were sorted into piles based on size with a sign with the price. For example, a pile with $8 pumpkins. I believe the most expensive were $12. We selected two $8 pumpkins that were huge! My only suggestion would be to actually label the pumpkins with prices. The people in front of us in line picked a pumpkin from the $9 pile, but the employee insisted that this was too big of a pumpkin to have come from that pile. She said sometimes customers move the pumpkins around. I don't blame the customers for being a little frustrated because they obviously picked their pumpkin with the price in mind. We were worried this might happen to us, but they did not question when we told them we picked $8 pumpkins. The service was excellent. An employee actually took our pumpkins and we could drive up to pick them up before leaving. It was so helpful not to have to carry these huge pumpkins over to the car ourselves. We will definitely be back next year!

I'm the last person who should be reviewing a haunted anything as I can't handle even the most…read moreinnocuous ghost stories enjoyed by tots (e.g. was totally freaked out by Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit). So, the physicality of enclosures designed to terrify adults is just not something that interests me. However, I couldn't be more enthused about this bit of local flavor: Every October, a family in the sleepy town of Roselle sets up three big tents in their front yard and crafts within them a truly excellent Halloween experience for the community. We'd been noticing the tents for a while, but only started investigating them last year. I figured it was going to be the usual cutesy Halloween stuff, but no. The level of creepiness and goriness was such that I couldn't handle actually entering the tents, so I mostly looked on as my partner Wolf R. had a good time checking everything out. But even he got a little surprise at the end: While looking into the coffin in the last tent, he was spooked by a large vampire swinging down from above, and a second later, he was further startled by a person dressed in all black, including a black face mask, creeping up behind him. I'd have laughed if I wasn't so busy making sure nothing was creeping up behind me. This year I felt a bit more bold and decided to follow a whole group of little kids into the leftmost tent, themed like a haunted carnival with evil clowns. This ain't so bad, I thought, enjoying the creative clowns and even snapping a pic. And then, I don't even understand what it was, but the odd noises and spinning lights they'd set up conspired to get under my skin and I felt like I was going to totally lose it if I didn't retreat *immediately*. My god. The middle tent was the gory cannibalistic one, with zombies and body parts and -- well, I won't spoil it for you. It was so gross that I couldn't actually look at it long enough to take a picture. And this year, the last tent was themed like a haunted hotel with black lights. Nothing jumped out at my partner this time but he still loved it. As it turns out, the haunted house also promotes a good cause: They collect non-perishable food for the Bloomingdale Food Pantry. The family also accepts donations if you'd like to chip in to their haunted house efforts. I'm just hoping they'll do a set of friendly winter wondertents one of these Decembers :) Hours: According to the listing on this page (http://www.wlsam.com/calendar/default.asp?DATE=10/11/2012), they're open 6-10PM Thursdays through Sundays in October, with extended hours in the last week of October.

We waited about a half an hour to get in which was not bad at all in my opinion. The longer wait promotes really good spacing and a well paced out experience inside so it's worth it! And the scare actors outside help immerse you in the experience early. For 15 dollars per person, this is so well worth it compared to other larger scale haunted houses in the area. The setting itself is so cool and you can tell they put a lot of work into it. We went in in groups of 8 which was a nice amount in my opinion. I don't scare easily so nothing really got me but that is not at all for lack of trying! There are multiple actors around every corner, cool lighting and interactive effects, and very awesome props for the actors. Caution there are a lot of strobe and flashing light elements if that's an issue for anyone. A lot of others in our group were scared throughout so I would say put yourself in the middle if you want the best experience! We will definitely come back next year and I am so happy that we have something like this in crown point for the season!
