Route 66 Raceway - the good and the bad. One man's perspective. First time here and I had high hopes. First, it's a nice track. Plenty of seating, although for some reason many sections were empty/closed off to fans. Lots of food and beverage here, but my gripes are no cash, only cards. Not a fan. As for beer choices, it's all light beer. Mass produced Bud products, which I would rather drink tepid pond water. Parking - unless you arrive very early on a Nationals weekend, you'll be parking far away and walking a long distance. Even handicapped. No shuttles to be found anywhere. Food prices are a little high for burgers, sausages, etc. but what isn't nowadays. (Example $12 for a footlong corn dog. $15 for a ten inch Italian sausage. $8 for beers) As I said earlier, lots of walking. We parked on one side of the track and our seats were on the other side; meaning a long walk all the way around the track. One nice thing is you can walk all thru the pits and meet drivers and crew. Take pictures, etc. Oh, one more gripe was I could not reach anyone at the track via phone or email to ask questions. An 800 number directed me e to be a NASCAR ticket service. They gave me another 800 number which referred me back to the other number. My email I sent was never answered. All in all, not a completely bad experience, but it could be much better. We had general admission seating. On the general admission side of the track they had two semi's with giant screens for the reserved seat side of the strip to see. Because of this they had the majority of the general admission seats blocked off. They had a section of general admission seats maybe 100 feet long. There were not enough seats for the crowd. It was like we were treated like second class citizens. I have been to 26 events at the strip(no one counts two races the first year). It's a shame that they took a local event and ruined and the experience completely. Sorry to say we gave it a chance after last years fiasco read more

Our trackside camping experience was fantastic. The space is 20 feet wide so you need good neighbors (and those with tons of slide outs) next to you though. Trash cans are available within a couple camp sites. Parking was not an issue. Checking in was easy and the staff prepared. Being beside the track was amazing. We went in for the Street Outlaw festivities and when we would get tired, too sunburned or want to use our own bathrooms we walked out to our RV. All the campers were friendly. When it came to the racetrack we had VIP tickets and walked freely around. The VIP sections next to the start finish line we fantastic to get close, take pictures of the cars that were up next and waiting and for those that love to feel the rumble of the engines reverberate through your body. No one from the track was overzealous in applying track rules. They were friendly. Good staff experience. We will for sure return! Thank you. read more

Been coming here since the inaugural season! Get here early otherwise you're gonna have to walk a ways to get to the turnstile. And don't bring a cooler in with you, as you won't get to your seats! "No Containers". Best bring some Sun screen too, or you're gonna get burnt! Been sent back to our car many times during rain delays but never rained out! Came here with a group of teenagers for Burndown at Sundown. I'm giving 3 stars because the show was good, moved along well and they generally seemed interested in keeping the crowd entertained. The venue overall is cleaner than most racetracks, but the cost for vendors is ridiculous. They don't allow you to bring in coolers, but on a +90 degree day where general seating offers no shade, charging $4 for a regular sized bottle of water is shameful. I did not appreciate paying $20 for 5 bottles of water and see not one but 2 tip jars at each pay window. I could have bought 5 CASES of water from Sam's Club for that price, GTFOH with your tip jar. I was also confused by the hypodermic needle disposal boxes on the bathroom walls. Finally, please either post a sign or make a reminder announcement, if spectators are going to take up so much space that they extend their legs over and onto the next rows-please keep their shoes on. read more

Worst spectator racing experience in my life! Don't waste your money on this overpriced crappy unorganized racing. We've already missed a full day and are now told to park at Chicagoland speedway across the street until they can figure out where to put us. Even farther away from the race track! A bunch of lies and excuses to keep people hanging on while you miss out on what you paid for, namely a trackside parking spot. This organization is a joke and a bunch of thieves. I will never waste my money like this again. The only truthful statement was to pull me out of being stuck in mud would be free. What about all the damn mud all over the outside and inside of my RV? I went here during a test and tune Saturday for my first time drag racing my car and had a blast. I had been here before for other events, like Pinks All Out, and had no complaints. Being my first time dragging my car, I had a lot of questions at every process, from tech inspection to staging. The staff was friendly and helpful. Things that could be improved are that they should post official rules and requirements like helmet rules, no shorts, etc on their site. Also, when there are other events going on along with test and tunes, you have to pay the admission price for that event plus the fee for the test and tune, which isn't clear on their site either. Other than that, everything was good. Track prep was good and all the equipment seemed to be functioning well. read more

I have been here before for the demolition derby. It was great. But the TORC truck series is awsome. I will be back for this one. You got to walk around and talk to the teams fixing the trucks and of course buy t-shirts and all kinds of junk. The place is very clean as well as the washrooms that were fully stocked. Lots of room to spread out and plenty of parking. My only problem is with the food costs. $8 bucks for and italian sausage! But that complaint is with every stadium. read more

Love it there, just wish it was cheaper, it gets expensive with 4 kids! We go to team demos quite often and my kids even go when we don't. They have many other great events also. read more

Came here for a day of NHRA Nationals qualifying. Overall was very happy with the facility. I thought the police did a great job getting traffic in and out, given the limitation that the surrounding roads aren't exactly huge. The people handling on-site parking were friendly and efficient, and the $5 parking fee for NHRA events wasn't too bad. The facility itself was well laid-out and clean. The only con I had was that the food and drink prices were definitely on the high side, e.g. $6 for a beer, $4 for bottled water. They did have drinking fountains, though, near all the bathrooms. read more

This review is for demolition derby at the dirt oval @ 66. Wow, the customer service here is just horrible! I waited 37 minutes to speak with a customer service rep who then transferred me to her supervisor who was of no help. The event I was planning on attending was postponed and I cannot attend a different date. At no time, while ordering the tickets or on the ticket does it state there were no refunds. I spoke with Vicki at the track (after speaking with the ticket vendor etix) who was extremely rude and the hung up on me. The contact number was 815-740-8000. The site also stated in the case of cancellation/postponement i would be notified, which did not happen. read more

I went here with my friends for my first ever derby, and I had a blast! The whole stadium was a buzz with excitement and people. It was a really great experience. I definitely cannot wait to go again! If you've never been to a derby, I highly recommend that you go to one, especially if it's here! read more

I have gone to the NHRA National races every year for the past 4 years. I bought tickets on Friday and on Monday I got an email saying they are offering $8 off tickets today only. Our group has ranged from 4-10 people and we drop serious cash here since we all drink. I emailed explaining how many years I've gone and asked if they could credit me. They told me no. No changes or refunds. Not sure if I'll be going back next year. read more
