I got all the privacy I was searching for, as well as the top notch service I expected. The pool area is tiny. I mean, really tiny!! But the spa area is where you need to be. You pay a lil extra, but you book a block of time and it's all yours for that period of time. There's a Turkish bath, jacuzzi, and the waterfall that you stand under after getting out the Turkish bath. Those couple of hours were heaven!!! There was no one interrupting, hopping in/out of the jacuzzi, or steam room. You can also book a massage while there. Everything was A+++. This hotel delivered everything I was looking for! Modern decor, seclusion, privacy, GREAT food (at the restaurant and room service), and EXCELLENT customer service!!!

It's quite easy to walk to the Funicular (cable car) and ride up to the upper city. The service at this hotel was top notch. Every encounter I had with all levels of the hotel staff were top notch. I'd recommend this hotel to any of my colleagues staying in Bergamo. On the first floor they have a dining area for a daily breakfast buffet which I liked very much as it is complimentary for hotel guests. The hotel breakfast made mornings prior to going into the office very easy. On the 8th floor, there is a very nice rooftop restaurant that has some very nice views of the city of Bergamo, and also the old city. Upon arrival we were told that the men needed to be wearing jackets. I wish that our hotel had told us because my husband had packed one, but luckily the restaurant keeps spare jackets on site for just this situation. The large dining room is incredibly old school with beautiful brass dining chairs laden in blue and yellow striped fabric. When they brought out the wine list I thought it was a joke because it was the size of a dictionary! For dinner I had the beet tartare and the veal filet. The soy marinated tofu was a little bit of an odd flavor combined the beet dish but besides that it was quite good. My husband started with the gnocchi and it may have been the best dish of the night, it was dynamite. In my opinion, my veal filet was better than my husbands beef filet and I also really enjoyed the petite eggplant parmigiana that came with it. Soufflé and ice creams for dessert were a big hit, but I was especially pleased because I asked if they had some dark chocolates off menu and they brought me out a beautiful assortment that tasted as good as they looked. The room was pristine. The views from our balcony were unreal. The restaurant was great, the breakfast was great. I will absolutely be coming back here when I stay in Varenna someday again. Make sure you listen to their website when it says to pack light, you really do have to climb up a lot of stairs to get to your room that are very narrow and it is pretty much impossible to do if you have a large suitcase.
