I did not have time to see a dermatologist as the earlier appointment was well after my time in California. I needed immediate relief. I was in Fort Wayne and decided to go to Physicians Urgent Care as it was listed on my insurance plan. I came in and asked to see a doctor. After filling out some paperwork, i waited my turn. I noticed most of the people in the urgent care that day were people to do mandatory testing for work. After about 20 minutes, I was taken inside and spoke with a nurse and told her my issue. She saw the problem and said a doc would come in a bit. Another 15 minutes later, spoke with the doctor and explained the situation. He prescribed me some doxycycline and prednisone. After a few days of taking the meds, I was in good shape. If you need to see a doc quickly but its not something for the ER, go to Physicians Urgent Care!

Lapse in health insurance, $180 out of pocket. I removed the splinter myself, we were just taking him to make sure it was safe to bandage, potentially get abx or a vaccine. Waited well over an hour in an empty waiting room. When we were brought back the radiology tech attending to us brought all the cleaning supplies and said, "I'm going to let you clean this, I don't want to be the bad guy." She then left to get the PA. Ma'am, I didn't want to be the bad guy either, that's why I paid nearly 200 bucks to have someone else do it, but whatever. My husband and I clean the wound, PA comes in, suggests soaking in Epsom salt, bandages it, prescribes an antibiotic so strong the pharmacist strongly suggested we not use it unless signs of infection began (Bactrim). He was fine. Now can someone tell me WHY I now have a bill for $625.10 for this garbage charade of "health care"? $625.10, adjusted down from $1,141.00. The bill is claiming "removal of foreign body." I removed it. I cleaned it. I want my original $180 back.
