I met with my agent before I listed my home. and asked that he include 4 things in the listing. The location The fact the lot is flat and big enough for an RV The newly remodeled items in the home The SS appliances. Not one single item I requested was listed in the description of the home. After 14 days on the market and over 1,000 views on Redfin I had ZERO showings. I requested multiple open houses and every time the agent told me nobody was available. The agent never communicated with me - I did all the work. When I requested the home be listed before labor day in hopes of getting a high volume of traffic to look at the home during a great time to look at homes, he requested that we wait to put the house on the market. Not once did my agent listen to me. Zero guidance. Zero expectations and at times I feel it was malicious in intent. The team they speak of is no team at all. Awful experience with no end in sight. read more

I loved how tech-savvy Redfin was - from the search process, to scheduling the tour, to signing the offer documents, to tracking the progress on our purchase! We bought our Ballard home after just one tour of homes. We were only in Seattle for a day after the tour and we were able to do everything else thereafter with the purchase via computer from Denver. I also loved their "team structure" - our field agent could focus on her job of showing us the homes, while our negotiating coordinator then helped us with the offer and purchase process. There was even someone else to help us with scheduling the inspection and other operational tasks. Thanks Redfin, you made our first home purchase fun and comfortable! read more

E-mailed them asking for a CMA over three weeks ago. No response. Listed with a traditional agent. Now I see on their website that anything under $300K in Seattle is 'below their minimum price'. Really. read more

Paul Wolfe of Redfin went above and beyond my expectations at all times. I faced a difficult house selling situation of selling my home that had been used as a rental for years, and I now live out of state. Paul made the process go as smooth as possible which resulted in a very quick sale. In the beginning, he evaluated the house and provided me with a list of priorities of things to do to bring the house to a sell-able condition. At every turn, he was available to provide advice and names of reasonably priced contractors to make the needed repairs. This was crucial for us as the seller since we live out of state and needed to make all repairs in just a few days. We pulled off an amazing transformation of the house which resulted in an offer in 2 days. After the offer, we had more things to repair to complete the sale. There were several small items that required an electrician, a plumber, an HVAC person, etc. I would not have been able to get any contractors to respond in time because they were jobs that were too small for them to put in the effort , since they are usually pursuing more profitable work. Paul used his network of contacts to get contractors to stop by when they were in the area to complete the work. Paul even took care a few minor things himself since I was out of state. I've bought and sold a few houses, and this experience by far was the best. The concise advice, the network of contractor contacts and the willingness to go above and beyond to facilitate the sale were far beyond my expectations. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Paul to any of my friends and family in the Olympia area. read more

We used RedFin specifically because we thought the rebate for finding our own house was a great idea. The entire time we were made to believe that we would be receiving this refund. Right before closing we were told that it is "being put toward closing costs". And we asked that it didn't once we found out. we paid the full 5%, and seller paid closing expenses. So where did the money go? Into a very large loan debt never to be seen again. Two stars for poorly explaining the whole principal and benefit of using a company like this. Additionally, the agent worked as hard as I was worth for his commission nothing more nothing less- so that's why I give them two stars and not one. New buyers- stay away. read more

What a great group of hard and dedicated workers. They are easy to work with and respond quickly to any questions.

We are in the process of selling our home through Redfin and while the team have been responsive I still don't really understand why our home isn't featured on Realtor.com and Redin are not linked to that site as they are to all other MLS listing sites - People who relocate to this area, I believe, look at the site Realtor.com site as their first port of call, I know we did when we moved here and many others we talk to do the same. I feel we are missing out on potential buyers because of this. read more

Just bought a house with these guys. They're very professional and they don't require any commitment before the first several trips. And I like their website which is both easy to find a candidate and easy to control the buying process. read more

I worked with Megan Traaseth at Redfin in my first home purchase. Megan made my first home buying experience a great one! She is very knowledgeable about the real estate market and can help guide any home buyer through the entire process. Megan and the Redfin team responds very quickly to my communications and kept in constant contact with every party involved. I would highly recommend her to anyone interesting in buying a home! read more

Redfin introduced a new website design about 6 weeks ago that removed a very important feature: being able to see area map and table with houses' information on same page. Despite many complaints from their loyal customers, they keep rolling this design to all customers. They should remove their pride statement from their facebook page: "We have the best search web site design". You don't! read more

I like it that the information on Redfin listing data are MOSTLY accurate because they are linked to the MLS -- as opposed to Zillow's data. I don't like it that their reviews are rigged. Our family purchased two houses through Redfin partner agent Jennifer Adams and never was invited or given the opportunity to write reviews on her. She and obviously realtors inform Redfin which clients may write reviews. read more

My wife and I bought our first house in September and our agent was through Redfin. Tami was amazing! She was always accessible and helped us to understand the process easily. Even after we closed, she has been able to make recommendations for us, from roofers to restaurants. Redfin also had the most up-to-date information on houses that were for sale and their statuses. read more

I saw in the Seattle Times that Zillow competitor Redfin had more accurate estimates of home values. So I checked our home. Indeed, Redfin's valuation was over 5% lower than Zillow, but Redfin also had inaccurate, less favorable home characteristics upon which that was based. They didn't have imagery of our home either, something Zillow offers. Sellers and buyers beware, these folks don't have their act together. They're certainly doing a disservice to sellers and giving misinformation to prospective buyers. read more

If I could give NO stars I would. They really dropped the ball with us. We found our own home, we went to the closing without a Redfin representative present and Redfin pocketed $11K for something they didn't even do. They promised us unlimited open houses on the home we were selling - that didn't happen. We advertised on Zillow and manned our own open houses. Our agent quit on us right after the contract was signed and we were left to fend for ourselves. So, we when closed on own original home, they made another $4K. We did all the freaking work by ourselves. Worst real estate experience ever. Would NEVER refer them to anyone. read more

I had the most terrible buying experience with Travis. Redfin work as a group so their goal is complete transactions as many as they can, not being buyers' or sellers' advocates. They have good technologies but need to retrain their employees. Our original realtor left for vacation so we had to work with Travis. We ended up pay for the house at the highest price we can effort, which was way above asking price, even though the house was on the market for almost 2 month. The other 2 offers were below asking price and owner didn't accept them. The previous owner used the platform where everything was transparent. Anyone can see every detail of each offers. That was how we found out that he didn't care of how much we had to pay. He just wanted us buy a house . He also called my lender to ask how much I was qualified, not sure if that was legal. The previous owner also told us that there was no pet policy. We didn't want to proceed because I had 5 dogs and want to make sure. Travis told us that we can request the HOA doc. after the house went under contract. We waited for a week and didn't get a call from him. I called and ask about pet policies. A few nights later we recieved a document of over 1000 pages long. We had to look through it and found out that the community allow only 2 dogs per house. We raised our concern and he wasn't happy. Long story short, we ended up buying the house. On the day we received the key, he sent his assistant to give us a key. She asked my name, gave me the key and left. We are definitely not the first time home owner, but definitely the first time we were treated this way. read more

I just bought a house using Redfin and it rocks! It's not very often I feel truly compelled to share a review but this company is changing the world of real estate and helping people save a ton of $$$. Redfin helps you from the beginning with really cool tools on their website to find the house, then helps you write the offer, and then helps you close the transaction. Oh yeah, and the best part... they give you a check back at the end worth several thousand dollars! You gotta love that! read more

We recently purchased our first home after over a year of looking for the right one, and throughout the whole process, we were so thankful to be working with Redfin. Regarding the team approach, we were so thankful for all their support and for the various specialized expertise each teammate brought to the process. We will definitely buy/sell with Redfin in the future. We love the ability to comb through the market ourselves using all of Redfin's user-friendly and up-to-date tools, we loved getting the perspectives of different field agents during the home tour process, appreciated that scheduling tours and managing the tasks in the deal process was made easy and fast by the people behind the scenes in that regard (Thank-you, Amy, for your responsiveness and help answering numerous questions!), and of course, when it came down to making the deal happen and happen smoothly, having our agent Allie Howard's expertise was invaluable. On top of all of that great service, the refund was a wonderful bonus that our bank accounts appreciated! In regards to Allie, we can't recommend or thank her enough. She is simply the best they have - and her hundreds of Redfin reviews agree with us. (That's another thing we love about Redfin - everyone is reviewed. We're so reliant on Yelp in general that we loved the opportunity to comb through the reviews of agents, lenders, inspectors, etc). As first-time home buyers, we had so many questions along the way and Allie did not hesitate to take the time to answer them thoroughly, sharing her incredible wealth of knowledge and expertise with us. We were able to completely trust that Allie had our best interests in mind throughout the entire process and trust in her judgement because she is such an expert - especially in our neighborhood, as we were focused on staying within our area. It has been a long journey for us... we have offered on multiple houses with Allie by our side before finally finding this home. Allie helped us write a competitive offer that was still comfortable for us and fair in terms of market value... and we were finally able to win in a multiple bid situation. During inspection, even though another field agent was present, Allie took the time to come by and hear the inspector's concerns, which we thought was so important moving forward with our deal. Any concerns about not feeling like one agent is by your side are alleviated with Allie as soon as you put an offer in. She allowed us space to make our own decisions but chimed in with her support for those decisions and sound advice when asked. Although we never felt pressure to use any vendors Allie recommended, we took her advice and they were excellent. In the final walkthrough, Allie was an invaluable resource to us in thinking practically about what our next and future steps were in terms of modifications to the house. As tech-savvy people who knew what they wanted in a home, Redfin's searching and touring process worked well for us. (We especially loved being able to see homes within one day, often on the same day, and often in the evenings - this was so helpful with our busy schedules!). It is simply not worth the money to pay so much to a traditional agent to search inferior databases for us. As first-time home buyers who needed to put their faith in someone with focus, dedication and expertise, we couldn't have found a better agent in Allie Howard. Her Yelp and Redfin reviews confirm this, and several Redfin field agents we worked with also affirmed that she is simply the best. We wouldn't want to work with anyone else in the future. read more

We just bought our first home in the midst of managing twin preschoolers, jobs, and life in general. It was exhausting, and the thing that made it better - and more manageable - was knowing we were in good hands working with Trevor. He went out of his way to call or email us back about *every* detail, from tours to inspections to closing the deal. It was not an easy process (which included being outbid on two offers, and having a closing delay on the house we bought - our third offer) but Trevor helped us through it. Their website organizes information in a convenient way, and we always knew what to expect next (thanks to great hand-holding as first-time buyers). We appreciated Trevor and the field agents always making things work if they could...including helping us get the keys one hour before the movers arrived! Thanks, Redfin. We highly recommend you! read more

Just closed on my 2nd Redfin house and it couldn't have been a better experience. This was my 5th home purchase and I feel the level of service I received was outstanding. I looked forward to getting up every morning to see the new listings in my search criteria. You can rule out a lot of homes by looking at the 15 pictures and the location or street pictures. I was picky and my agent Lori Bakken showed me many. Then when I thought I had a not one, she was there within the hour and we made the offer that Sunday night. She is committed to really helping people find the right home. I recommend Lori and Redfin to all! read more

Watching Redfin "sell" a condo in the "hottest real estate market in the US" is like watching paint dry. Two months with no offers despite having dropped the price from the realtor's recommendation. I'm left not knowing what these people actually do for their clients. read more

We found Redfin a great way to buy our first home! It may not be for everybody, but we LOVED it. We tried finding a traditional real estate agent. Being fairly new to the area and young, we were short on recs. Some traditional real estate agents we tried were just overly aggressive and plain unprofessional. Like "Random Capitalization In Their E-Mail plus some straange typos" unprofessional. It reminded me that the bar isn't exactly that high to get certified. In contrast, Redfin has teams of different agents who will take you on home tours and write up your papers. I love their philosophy of salaried employees who have their own specialty. It took the fear of real estate agents out of me! We were a bit weirded out at first by the fact that every time we went on a tour, we wound up with a different agent. And frankly some were better than others, but all were professional. The first houses/condos we looked at were laughably bad and the hunt was frustrating. I think a traditional agent may have helped guided our search, but we were able to learn how to target our search better, that in the end, anything a traditional agent could have sent our way was already something we could have found ourselves on Redfin. Their web site interface is amazing and richly featured. Everything I love about online shopping is here on Redfin, where you can browse a wide selection on your own, do your own comparisons, ask everyone and their mom what they think of your choices, all without someone looking over your shoulder and nagging you. You can browse all reviews of their agents which lent a lot of credibility to the site. Also, guaranteed half of the commission back to you to leave you with money to buy furniture. Woohoo! Our main agent was Loren, and he was a joy to work with and we never doubted that we were in good hands. He is patient, explains things well, and teamed up with Janelle was just incredibly organized. He responded to my e-mails during the daytime AND evenings, and was just easy to get a hold of in general. He never shied from giving honest advice when we asked for it, never minded if we chose not to follow it, and it was just easy to have very open communication with him. Additionally, he has helped connect us to other like-minded, customer-oriented professionals to serve our mortgage and inspection needs. The hunt wasn't easy, but I never dreamed that buying a house could be such an easy and seamless process. Major thanks to Loren and his team as we now have our very first house and a dream come true. read more

Stress-free, pain-free, awesome website...AND you get a chunk of the commission back. We worked with Chad Dierickx in our quest for a new home in Seattle. Working with him and the field agents was extremely easy. We must have dragged him and 4-5 field agents to see about 30 homes. There was never any pressure to buy. Infact a couple of times the steered us clear from homes that would have needed a lot of work. V We also made multiple offers on about 3 homes. Again there was never any up-sell or pressure when we wanted did not want to match the sellers counter-offer. When we finally found 'the one', we called Chad on Sunday afternoon. Offer was in by evening. We had a problem show up during inspection, Chad sent his own electrician in to take a look at the problem and had him call me with information. Did I already mention they're cheaper than other realtors...yea awesome! read more

I bought a home using a Redfin agent last fall. I wish I had spent the extra money to use a real Agent. The money spent on fixing things in the house that the "Redfin-suggested" inspector failed to tell me about has surpassed the savings by about $30,000. The selling Agent never even saw the house with me. A poor experience all the way around. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because I did like the availability of a rep to show me a house at any time. I wouldn't buy again (or sell) with Redfin. read more

Our Redfin agent was unresponsive to us, did not follow up on offers, and silently ghosted us, taking our house off the market without telling us when he failed to sell it. Get your useless agent to take his godforsaken sign off my property, please! read more

We worked with Sarah Rollinger from Redfin through a long house searching process. Because of a very tough seller market we put more than 10 offers, in about ~6 months, before we managed to get our house that we are very happy with. Sarah was a great agent all through this period because of more reasons that I will list here. She is very good communicator. She is very approachable and nice and easy to talk to. She reached out on phone immediately and met face to face with us in the first week. She is articulated and patient to explain the process and all the offer terms. For the first offer we put with her, she called us on the phone and went through all the offer segments for about an hour even though it was pass 8pm. Sarah seemed always available to us and was very quick to respond e-mails/sms/phone. She would also be very quick to put together offers in very short time. When preparing the offer, Sarah would be very thorough. She would keep close communication with the listing agent and try to get as much information as she could. Another important thing that we liked about Sarah was that even though the process took long, she didn't try to push us to buy something that we were not sure about or bid a lot more. She would let us decide the sum we were comfortable with. She was very patient with us. We went through a more complicated event where we needed to back off of an offer we didn't want and Sarah was able to find the best terms for us proving she is very knowledgeable and able to deal with complex situations. We felt very lucky to have worked with Sarah at that time, not sure many agent would have managed to help us the way she did. The closing of the house we bought went very smooth because of Sarah and her team. It was really great how Sarah made receiving the keys for our house a even more special moment by meeting us with flowers and champagne and toasting with us for our first home! read more

My husband and I just bought our first home with Redfin and could not be happier! We had actually been seeing a few homes here and there and started using Redfin a few months into our search. We had a good idea of what we wanted and searched the website both for listings and for information on the market and surrounding neighborhoods. We went out on several home tours and found the field agents to vary in their level of helpfulness. Some knew a lot about properties....some a little less. We actually knew what we were looking for so it wasn't an issue but it might be for people needing more guidance. Once we decided on which home we liked, we submitted our offer and had some guidance on the process. Very smooth transaction. They recommended a home inspector who was thorough, particular, and very prompt to our request. We actually ended up doing everything over the phone, email, fax and never met our agent.....but Cheryl was great! We wish we could have met simply to say thank you. All in all, we were very happy with Redfin. And that 2/3 refund of commission can not be beat! It covered almost all of our closing costs and helped us buy down points for out mortgage, helping us for many years to come! I was skeptical in the beginning but this was a great decision and I would highly recommend their services to anyone. read more

My husband and I just successfully closed on a beautiful home. Our agent, MaryJo Cabrera and her team are terrific! We were very impressed by the high level of communication and organization throughout our transaction. MaryJo was knowledgeable, dependable and a creative problem-solver. She helped us navigate through a bumpy inspection response that required a significant amount of her time, and achieved excellent results for us. Jaclyn, her transaction coordinator, helped us schedule numerous appointments, assisted us with selecting an awesome inspector and kept us notified about important dates and deadlines. We couldn't be happier and couldn't recommend MaryJo and Jaclyn enough. Redfin is the way to go - an amazing agent, a seamless transaction, a portion of the selling office commission, and very happy homeowners! read more

Redfin is awesome. My wife and I bought our first home with them. After reading reviews, I decided to be forward about what my expectations were and see if they could deliver. I wanted responsiveness, updates, and local knowledge. I got all of that and more. Phone calls were answered immediately or returned within an hour. I only had to prompt for one update on an offer we made only to hear that we were still waiting, so there was no update. Local knowledge was great, our agent lives right by the house we bought, so obviously he knew the area well! I don't want an agent telling me which houses to go to, I'd rather look at them all and choose myself. They showed me the houses I wanted, when I wanted, and then they made recommendations (and took my feedback into account!) when making offers. It was a very painless process and I wouldn't have asked for anything else. Our agent met with us for our first set of home tours, then he showed up at a couple more later (we toured over 30 places). He offered to grab coffee to answer questions and I always felt like he was available. Since redfin agents are salaried they have no incentive to help people buying million dollar homes more than those of us buying more modest priced abodes which I loved. Highly recommended! read more

If you are an good or and expert in house hunting, Redfin maybe for you. If you a novice like me, it would have been much better to hiring a full service agent. My Redfin agent was new and rather inexperienced. I later learned that she sold only 1 other home within the past 6 months. My agent did not appear to give me full time and attention. Even when she is showing me homes, she is busying on her smart phone and answering text. Redfin is like discount stores where service is very spartan. My agent did not show initiative to give me the best ideas in purchasing a home in a tight seller's market. Her advise again and again was to offer 10% above market value and to wave all the contingencies. She was not on top of the market trend when the seller market soften. So I walk into a sale offering much more than I need to. Needless to say I end up paying much more for a house than I would have. read more

Closing now with Redfin. I was an out of state buyer and the team were always responsive and professional. The website, iphone app were a great research tool that helped us from taxes, to comps, to schools. I recommend you request a specific agent and book tours in advance - Kenny was an amazing field agent to tour with, great eye for detail, quick to understand the requirements my family have, and exceptionally knowledgable. When it comes to closing, Brian was smooth and laid out all the dates and requirements, really helped to let you know what, when, how and with who for the closing. Loren the lead agent is great. The team were flexible with our needs, coming in for days of tours at a time not the 2 hour standard tour blocks, and the extra effort we put into setting up those days really paid off. For smart consumers, this is the best platform for research and team to help you. And your extra effort is returned at closing with the rebate. This is the new way to buy, and is changing consumer habits in these cities for the better. No pushy agents trying to close a deal, they take the time with you! Way to go Redfin!!!! read more

I followed Redfin from its beginnings. I loved searching on their website browsing houses for sale. When it finally came time to purchase a home for ourselves, we chose Redfin. We worked with Cheryl McClaine who I can't recommend enough. Cheryl worked with us through thick and thin to close a deal that was particularly complicated. We wouldn't have been able to close without her help. Things we love about Redfin: 1) Their website - its the best available. 2) The rebate - $$$! 3) Professional staff - especially Cheryl! What we didn't love so much: 1) Home touring can be frustrating because you aren't always able to schedule an appointment immediately. For web-savvy, independent buyers, you can't do better than Redfin. If you need lots of help in deciding what you want and don't feel comfortable taking a more active role in the searching process, Redfin is probably not for you. read more

Keith Broxterman and his team at Redfin were amazing! He was super responsive and helpful with all our ridiculous questions. If it weren't for Keith, we probably would not have purchased our home! We toured this particular home, really liked it, but as we were walking home, we saw it go into pending. We let Keith know that we were pretty upset, but we continued to search on Redfin. Keith took the initiative to double-check and realized that there was a confusion between the listing and the house that we looked at, and it was actually the home next door that went into pending, and the one that we liked was still available! If it weren't for Keith's diligence, we wouldn't have purchased our dream house! Keith went above and beyond! Thank you! read more

Hi Glen, I am pleasantly surprised that the CEO of a company reserves time out of his busy schedule to address client concerns! For this reason, I am upgrading my Redfin review to four stars! I still held back one star for dropping me as a client ;-) It's somewhat frustrating to read your responses though, Glen. They sound sincere, but at times they are also vague. 1. Glen K wrote -- "It's also very difficult to get a seller to seriously consider any offers that are over 15% off of the listing price." This response may imply that our main objective was to low ball most (if not all ) offers. It's vague, but that's how I read it. 2. Glen K wrote -- "The Boston manager suggested another agent at least in part because we felt that the partnership wasn't working, and I continue to feel that trust problems will remain no matter how much you tour or at what price you write offers on homes." Trust problems will remain? I have no idea what this means or implies? I can only guess there were ongoing trust issues? Is this true, Glen ? If so, that's news to me. Again it's vague. 3. Glen K. wrote - "You had initially asked us if you could represent yourself while we prepared pricing analyses for a fee,..." Yes, I did ask our agent this question. But let me put some context around it. This was related to a home in Topsfield that was FSBO. We toured this home BEFORE it ever appeared on MLS. Our agent informed me they could not assist us with this transaction because at the time the Seller was not offering a commission to real estate brokers. This was not an ongoing service I was interested in. Maybe you didn't get all of the facts from your employees. No worries if this was the case. Look, it was not my intention to post on this website to attempt to work with Redfin again. It was to post an honest review based on my belief that Redfin did not honor their marketing claim. Unfortunately, after these awkward public exchanges, I now realize that it was nothing more than a partnership that was not meant to be. Best, -Steve read more

Redfin is a great alternative to those pushy realestate agents which will probably be a thing of the past within the next decade as companies like Redfin work to transform the real estate business. For those of you who already pretty much do your own research yourselves, Redfin is actually paying you for that work, instead of you paying your real estate agent that hefty percentage. Redfin takes sometime getting used to and definitely requires some patience and your own hardwork. I would not recommend Redfin for first time home buying or if you're in a hurry to purchase a place but if you're casually looking or not in a hurry seems like a great alternative! Not sure how they work as the sellers agent but seems like it would be worth checking out! read more

I recently became a first time home owner though Redfin and it was a very positive experience. I can't believe how much I learned throughout the entire process! Corey St. John and Allie Howard are very friendly and so knowledgeable about the in's and out's of the real estate industry. They're also great at explaining the nuances of real estate so that newbies can understand it easily. I saw over a dozen homes with Redfin and as soon as spotted "the one" they went to work immediately on digging up all the necessary background info to help me with my offer including things like mortgage history, comps to other units in the building and neighborhood, etc. Allie and her coordinator Dorcas were in constant communication with me throughout the entire process and even created a work back schedule with key milestones e.g. earnest money due by XX that was very helpful. A special thanks must go out to Matt Allen at Cornerstone Lending. He's one of the lenders featured on Redfin's site and is nothing short of a rockstar! I work in the services industry myself working with many high maintenance clients, and this is praise I don't give out to just anyone. At the end of the day, Redfin and Cornerstone made a long transaction with loads of paper work much easier on me and I would definitely do business with them again in a heartbeat! If friends in WA, CA, or OR are in the market soon I will definitely refer them to Redfin and Cornerstone. read more

Stick with your well-known and respected Seattle-area realtors - Coldwell Banker, Windermere, any local agency. Redfin is a cut-rate company and it's reflected in the service, stemming from how they treat their employees. Insincere and carless towards anyone unhappy with them, probably because no one is paid well, as this company only pays the highest managers and owners well, which means the agents are overloaded and under-appreciated. Lack of response to emails and concerns speak for itself. Avoid at all costs. read more
