This wasn't our first rodeo buying or selling property. From our past experience, real estate…read moreagents from the most reputable companies are usually in it for the money, to quickly buy or sell your property for you. The politeness will be there initially, but as time wanes, their patience tires and they just want their commission and to move on. This time around, we opted to go with Redfin's business model of salaried employees and work with Peggy Papazaharias. From the very beginning, we couldn't have appreciated a better agent. Throughout our 1+ year of looking for a property in multiple towns 10+ miles apart, Peggy was sweet, polite and attentive. On tours of homes, she would actually help point out things in the home to watch out for and houses to downright just avoid. Most agents would try to spin things for the positive, to try and get you to buy the property. She never once lost her patience. If she was not available to tour a house with us, she would ask one of her colleagues to attend with us. We actually felt like we built a personal relationship with Peggy who we are more than willing to work with again. She made the whole process a lot smoother and pleasant. Even after we had gone in contract, she had consistently dropped us emails or text messages to see how things were going. I've seen one too many times where other agents start to lose interest once the contract was signed. If somebody wasn't responding, whether it be the seller, buyer's attorney, seller's attorney, mortgage broker, or title company; she'd try and reach out for us. We had a good idea of potential real estate brokers and title companies we wanted to work with. Rest assured, I did my homework, creating spreadsheets and spreadsheets of all the good faith estimate fees the banks/mortgage brokers and title companies charged. But once she gave us her recommendations, we wholeheartedly trusted her advice and opted to work with those companies. Long story short, if you want to skip all the legwork and research, take Peggy's recommendations. We wound up saving a very considerable amount from closing fees. Her guidance and advice throughout the process was invaluable and nothing but positive experiences. If you're looking to buy a property around Long Island, New York and are considering breaking away from working with a traditional real estate agent, I'd recommend working with Peggy from Redfin. And don't forget Redfin also refunds a portion of the commission to you that they make. That's just icing on the cake!! Peggy, many thank you's for everything that you did for us. We love you and will pass on the good word to all our friends and family looking to buy/sell property.

She was not pushy at all like the other real estate agents. We get to select the houses that we want to see from their website and caitlin would schedule them for us. She would tell us what to lookout for in a house since we were first time homebuyers. And when it came to giving an offer she would tell us whether the price was fair and what she thinks of the sellers. She also gave us a list of inspectors and mortgage brokers to use. They were great too!! We didn't have to scramble to look for them ourselves. Caitlin was also very responsive whenever we called or emailed her. The BEST PART about going with Redfin was that we also get some money back after we close the house! Now why would anyone not go with them???

My friends wrote an accurate review of this company that got filtered. Please be sure to look at…read morethat b/c the Emkay building in Forest Hills is sooo bad. I rent in a building near the Emkay one. Mine is not perfect but at least clean and with good helpful employes and the outside part is very nice. My friends' building is nasty and you can see before you go in. Outside part is all broken and stained the building is dirty and in need of paint with coffee cups and cigarettes on the ground. Inside is not clean or kept up. They showed me the laundry room and it was nasty with trash on the floor and all dirty machines. Elevator had a bad odor of dirt and was all scratched up. With the elevator door opened you could see inside the wall like it was rotten. The yard had trash and dog messes. I have no reason to say any of this for my gain b/c I don't work in real estate. I am not putting their address or any other address. This is all what I witnessed. Lucky me I don't live there but my friends do. Anyone who lives around there would know that this is how the Emkay building on Yellowstone looks. I wouldn't even know the name of the management company except my friends told me they Yelped about it and it got filtered. I had to add my two cents b/c I've been over there and it's bad to let a building get that way.

Daryl is quick to respond verbally, and his receptionist is lovely, but they never actually make the Super change or take action. I was told just today that the broken laundry vending machine, located in the communal laundry room in the basement, is MY responsibility to call and get fixed. MINE. The Super has refused to help on several other occasions as well. When I tried to call Emkay to bring this to their attention, no one picked up - and they don't have an answering machine, or email address. Simply put - his building is not run well, and he is very hard to get in touch with. Not worth the hassle. The building is overall disgusting - mice and roaches. Normally, you could chalk this up to "NY living," but when the Super refuses to do anything about it, trust me, your apathy to mice running around your living room dissipates very quickly.
