One issue was the room was very small, so I would be hitting my body when getting up. The PT or PTA should have moved the table out but I think they moved so this problem is probably resolved. My 2nd issue is one of the Pt or PTA used so much pressure that I had a black and blue bruise and was in a lot pain. My mom, a registered nurse, wanted me to go to urgent care as the bruising was really bad. My 3rd issue is after my prescription ran out from the doctor they told me I so come back for 12 PT more visits. They did not ask me to run that by my doctor at all. I ran it by 2 different orthopedic surgeons who said no wait until after surgery for more PT. The company then called me to schedule even though my doctors said to wait. From my experience, I do not think high of the PT at Proactive at all.

At my first appointment, I was in a lot of pain and did not really see myself out of it. She asked me to give her 10 days and promised that I would feel better. And I did. Her massages were amazing and would help me loosen up right away. More importantly, she pointed out some issues in my posture and exercises to correct them. Initially, they didn't seem related to my area of pain at all but the more I did, the better I felt. She helped me strengthen muscles that I didn't realize even existed. She would give a few exercises to practice per session rather than a huge list that I had received a few years back at another establishment for a different injury. I set my goals to her early on: I wanted the pain gone, become stronger and then to go back to my gym routine. She not only helped me get there one step at a time but also added many new useful gym exercises to my routine. I was recently sent to Egoscue for physical therapy by my naturopathic doctor for chronic back…read morepain. I paid for the initial visit ($275) and also purchased an 8 visit package ($1370). The following day I had an appointment with my spine surgeon who asked me to not continue with treatment at Egoscue because it would interfere with his next steps. I contacted Egoscue the day after my initial appointment requesting that the $1370 be refunded based on my surgeons recommendation. It is impossible to reach anyone at this company first of all. The main number they list on their website just rings when you call....they don't even have a message....it just rings. I emailed the provider I had my initial appointment with and when she finally responded 4 days later she asked to speak to me in person. I was traveling at the time and again requested that the money be refunded to my credit card and explained the situation in length. This all took place on and around May 15th.....they never refunded the money. I disputed the charge with my bank and immediately was contacted by someone at the company (amazing how you can get a response so quickly if you dispute the charge). The person asked that I cancel the dispute so they could process the refund. Sadly, I believed her. I canceled the dispute and still nothing happened with the refund. This mess went on for 7 weeks and the bank ended up refunding me the money and I still have not heard a word from the company. They did send threatening text messages while the dispute was being investigated. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY. THIS IS THE WORST KIND OF SCAM. I HAVE REPORTED THE COMPANY TO THE PHYSICAL THERAPY BOARD AS WELL AS THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU.

The corporate offices have acknowledge that they owe me the money but have come up with so many different excuses to why they have not refunded this money. This is $120 and much is less than one visit that I pay each time I have worked with a therapist. It is crazy to me that they would not pay this money back and I have stopped using them as a therapist in the future. Select Medical Corporation (the parent) has received 1 out of 8 favorable reviews at BBB, where it is unaccredited. I am telling everyone I know not to use Select Physical Therapy in Del Mar. Their parent company operates unethically.

He took the time to explain what he believed was causing my discomfort, gave me a clear plan for how to address it, and then got right to work. One of my biggest issues was a knot in my back that had been bothering me for the last six months. I had tried everything -- massage therapy, massage guns, saunas, jacuzzis -- and nothing made a real difference. After about 15 minutes of soft tissue work and a few exercises to follow up with, Carmel asked me how I felt. I was genuinely stunned: the knot was gone. I assumed it might just be temporary relief, since I'd had that before, but it usually only lasted 30 to 60 minutes. This time, I woke up the next morning with no pain and no knot whatsoever.
