Though I miss seeing the sign for its humorously named predecessor (the "beer, baloney, and more" store), Hensley's is an upgrade in terms of food! In addition to standard gas station snacks, Hensley's cooks up burgers and chicken sandwiches as well as a southern plate lunch each day. They also have a small salad bar. Desserts include fried pies; I thought I saw a sign for ice cream too though I never spied a machine. The place is hoppin with locals and it's clear word has spread. There's not a lot of super convenient options in the area but even still, we enjoyed our meal. My coworker had visited before on an earlier trip I didn't attend and she enjoyed their Philly cheesesteak. This time, she got a chicken bacon ranch wrap and onion rings. I ordered a hamburger with bacon and French fries. Their soda machine wasn't functional when we visited but we were able to get drinks from the convenience store side. Diet Coke only though, no Coke Zero and no Pepsi products whatsoever. /: Our food took a few minutes to come out but they were busy and it was clearly fresh. The burger came on a simple but soft bun. It had pretty good flavor, though I will say it was a touch dry in parts. Fries had a slightly frozen-ish texture and might've benefited from a touch more salt but they were hot and plentiful. The bacon on my burger was cooked very well and was nice and crispy. My coworker enjoyed her onion rings and said the CBR wrap was her favorite thing she'd tried so far. The menu covers a good many American classics and the plate lunch specials seem to change often and were quite popular on my visit. You pay at the counter with your ticket when you check out. I think the prices are fair. Service was nice and helpful. Overall, this is a solid stop for some fresh grub in an area that was previously mostly bereft of options. There weren't many places to stop in the area, which was becoming a concern because I use a wheelchair due to a neurological disability that causes weakness and tremors in my arms and legs. I'm not paralyzed and can walk short distances, but walking can be difficult. We pulled into this store and saw several people in the parking lot, so naturally we assumed it was open. Because it was a small store and we thought we'd only be inside for a few minutes, we decided it would be easier for me to walk in rather than go through the process of getting my wheelchair out. We slowly made our way to the front door--only to discover they were closed on Sundays. At that point there wasn't much we could do except turn around, struggle back to the car, and hope we could find another restroom quickly. On our way back, a gentleman walked past us. A few steps later, we suddenly heard a voice behind us: "Excuse me, ladies, do you need to use the restroom?" We turned around, and it was the gentleman who had just passed us. We explained what had happened, and that's when we learned that he was one of the two brothers who own the store. He opened the store for us. Not because we were customers. Not because he was trying to make a sale. The store was CLOSED. He simply told us he was concerned that we might have difficulty finding another clean restroom nearby and that he was happy to let us in. I can't adequately explain how much that simple act of kindness meant in that moment. And when he said "clean restroom," he meant CLEAN! The restroom was modest, but it was absolutely immaculate. Honestly, it may have been the cleanest gas station restroom I've ever seen. The entire store was spotless and clearly very well cared for. What stayed with us most, though, wasn't the restroom or even how clean the store was. It was the fact that this man saw two strangers struggling across his parking lot on a day his business wasn't even open, recognized that we might need help, and went out of his way to help us. There was nothing in it for him. That tells me everything I need to know about the people who own this business. So if you're traveling through this area, please stop here. Fill up your tank. Buy your snacks and drinks here. Try some of their home-cooked-style food. And apparently, if you need a restroom, you've also stumbled across one of the cleanest gas station bathrooms around! This store is owned by two brothers who clearly take tremendous pride in their business and care about their community and the people who come through it. There are plenty of places where you can buy gas. I would much rather spend my money supporting people who treat others this way. We were just passing through, but we won't forget this place--or the kindness one of its owners showed us that day.

Filos was absolutely wonderful! The food was amazing--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Our service from Missy was excellent; she was warm, attentive, and made us feel so welcome. We also had the pleasure of meeting Lee, the chef and owner, who was lovely, charismatic, and clearly passionate about what he does. And the martinis? Perfect! Great food, wonderful people, and a fantastic experience all around. We were thrilled at our experience. Starting with the perfect shaken martini , to the excellent service by Missy, and the food was par with many of the Michelin star restaurants in Austin we love to frequent. The chef owner Lee was full of character and poise. He clearly runs a well bred tavern with a level of sophistication unusual in small towns . We drove back for lunch today and were welcomed by the staff and Lee brought us the most delicious carrot cake warmed on the house as we were ready to depart.

And then when she gave it to me so, I asked if it had been toasted and she replied, yes. When I got home the sandwich had not been toasted at all. The cheese and everything in the sandwich was still like it just came out of refrigerator. I knew when I took it out of the bag and could feel how cold the sandwich was that it had not been toasted. So I took all the condiments off and put bread and cheese in my toaster. By the time I got that done, and reassemble my sandwich, all of the condiments were wilted and mushy and tasted pretty bad. The ham seem to be a really good quality meat. I really hate that it had to be so poorly made. The other thing when, is that when she put spinach on the sandwich, and lieu of lettuce, I couldn't find it. So I didn't investigation into my sandwich while it was torn apart and I finally found one and a half leaves of spinach on my sandwich. But I guess that was good under the circumstances because it looked like it had been through the washing machine because it had been so long since the sandwich was made before I could eat it. It's a sandwich have been filled with that kind of thing I might not have been able to even eat it. That would have been really unappealing to look at and then eat. It was a bad experience all the way around. I'm going to go another couple of times because I always do like to make room for that sometimes it's just a bad day. I have a job and I go to work and sometimes I just have a bad day . so we'll see how this goes next time and I'll come back and let you know if I can get a sandwich toasted with some spinach.
