Gave 1 star cause I had to. Purchased my boyfriend a pair of work boots for his birthday at the cost of almost 400.00. He has previously worn tradesman style boots from Red Wing that worked fabulously for him for almost two years. I went in seeking help as I have never purchased these types of shoes before. I was going to purchase him the boots he previously purchased as they were awesome quality, lasted forever and through anything, including all types of weather, and I was conned and convinced into purchasing the King Toe 8" boot instead, as they were described to me as 'better' in every way, shape, and form (literally). I did not mind spending the extra money as I care more about the protection of his feet. I was helped by a gentleman in his 50's, smaller beard, and an injured back or knee, who spoke to me about his long haul career and he was so helpful with information about what worked for him. I expressed this to the manager, Christina, at Red Wing in Langley, BC, who insisted I just made up a whole ass employee, and then insisted I was being helped by another customer as they have never had an employee that fits that description. Less than 5 minutes later, it turns out she 'remembered' that the owner of the store used to long haul, is in his 50's, and supports the store when in BC. I was conned into the more expensive but absolute garbage boots by Trevor, the owner of Red Wing, Langley. Nice! I am not kidding you when I say the boots are falling apart in less than 7 months of wear and unfortunately, Christina has just told us that they are not covered under the warranty as they are not a manufacture defect, simply regular wear and tear. I am wondering how his cheaper and older boots held up almost 4x longer than the more expensive boots I was convinced to purchase. I felt like an idiot in the first place shopping in this store as a 27 year old female, and I was actually really impressed with how I was treated in there. However, the guys (Trevor and Joshua) were so polite because they knew they could drain every dollar they wanted out of me as an uneducated woman who has never purchased a pair of steel toe boots. Purchased November 10, 2022. Boyfriends birthday - December 5th, 2022, first day of wearing the boots. Todays date - July 3, 2023 These boots have lasted no longer than 7 months, and he was accused of just being too rough with them, the stitching is his fault, the soles falling apart are his fault, and the fact that water seeps into them already are his fault. The manager told me a story about a customer who pulled a shoelace on one boot with the other and ripped the whole top portion of his boot off. I'm sorry, but WHAT!? if anyone is stitching leather together, I would fully expect it to be stronger stitching than that. Are heavy duty steel toe work boots meant to take a beating, or no? I'm confident the quality of 'leather' they are using is no better than what you would find at wal-mart; poorly stitched, poorly manufactured. Period. Photos below for you. Might I add, my boyfriend is not in concrete, construction, or anything that could remotely do this kind of damage to a shoe. He drives a tow truck, which is labour intensive, yes, but many hours spent driving. He's been in the industry for 9 years and is 26 years old, he has always invested in proper certified equipment, including his footwear, for years. I expected much much better from Red Wing, especially because he loved his older Red Wing boots. Neither of us will ever buy another pair of shoes from Red Wing. read more

Impressed with the friendly customer service we received from manager "Christina" ... what a difference after visiting a local competitor store! (Their staff were rude and unapproachable) Bought (on order) preferred and specific $400+ Red Wing Safety Boots, will purchase insoles upon return for fitting. Needless to say, it was worth the distance to go for the attentive assistance from this Langley Red Wing Store. Both Christina & Josh were very helpful. read more

I decided to try Red Wing boots, as they were highly recommended. I was greeted politely and had my feet sized as soon as I entered the store. The boots that I was given to try on were extremely tight. I would never wear any footwear that was that tight. I mentioned this to the salesperson, who informed me that the boots stretch. She reluctantly agreed to bring me a larger size. The larger size also felt too small. The salesperson assured me that wearing the boots for a couple of hours around the house would begin to break them in. I decided, against my better judgement, to purchase the boots. I went home and wore the uncomfortable boots for approximately 2 1/2 hours, at which point they began to be painful. The following day, I went to exchange the boots for a larger size. The salesperson (a different lady than from my previous trip) resized my feet, assured me that those were the correct size for me, and brought me a SMALLER, but wider, pair of boots. I tried them on and told her that they were still too small. I asked for a larger size. She explained (as the first salesperson did) that wearing boots that were too large would cause excessive wear. I said that, if my feet were in pain, what was the point of worrying about the wear on the boots? When she continued to try to persuade me, I told her that I wanted a larger size, or my money back. She CONTINUED to try to persuade me. I asked for my money back. I have worn many pairs of boots, and even more pairs of shoes in my life. This is the first time that I have had a sales team attempt to convince me to purchase footwear that were the wrong size, despite my protestations. read more

I wear the same boots all the time . Red wing 2412 or the 2414 . The 2412 are insulated the 2414 are not . A couple days break in and they are comfortable for years . This time I bought the insulated and they seemed tight . I thought couple days no problem but the left boot killed my toe on the outer edge . I took them back and they spent a full week on a stretcher . Again seemed ok . Went to work after a couple hours same issue same area of my foot . Going back again to pick up a 1/2 size larger . Will report back after the break in period . I'll know in one day if they are a correct fit . It's strange that only one boot feels this way . I have heard that the thickness of the insulation could be the problem . This is only the second pair in 20 yrs that I've bought the insulated boots in that size . The sales staff has been outstanding very patient with this issue . It's frustrating for them as well . They want to put you into the correct footwear and I appreciate that . read more

My husband bought boots here. He was very impressed with their service. He did as instructed and wore them around home for several hours before wearing them to work. Very happy with the fit as recommended. Heading there soon to get my own pair. read more

I bought a pair of peco nailseats here a year and a half ago. Through the sizing process they squeezed me into what they insisted was the right size and that the leather would relax, as we "had to get rid of the heel slip". A year and a half later of almost daily wear to "break them in" and I still lose feeling in my toes. I wasn't going to leave this review but when I called to discuss stretching, I got the same story, again, "you don't want any heel slip when getting a new pair of boots we fit you into the correct size". Now, maybe that is the case for Iron Rangers, but when it comes to cowboy boots, which I now know, you WANT 1/4 - 1/2 inch of heel sleep in a new pair, any cowboy boot fitter has told me this since. I've bought half a dozen other pairs since this and have been fitted this same way, aiming for 1/4 to 1/2 inch heel slip when fitting -once the sole breaks in the heel comes up with the boot and they fit like a glove. EXTREMELY dissatisfied with the service, attitude, and this almost 400$ pair of boots I can't do anything with. read more

Warning for any person, particularly any man who has wide feet to be very careful about listening to the advice of the sales woman at this Langley Store who thinks that a snug fit wrong width leather work boot is going to magically transform into a comfortable fit for a wide foot. With how expensive the work boots are at this store they should be honest that EEE is as wide as they go and if one needs a wider feet that they should look else. The "magical powers" of the saleswoman didn't work for my husband who after working many hours wearing the work boots (10-12 hours days at 14 days a stretch) ended up with numbing and tingling of toes in both feet. On writing an email to the store, was told to "Bring the boots in to the store when you are done your rotation and let's see if there is something we can do to help ease that break in." in reality my husband was met with rudeness and scorn and the solution was to buy another pair of boots (this time Made in China ones) at another $400 odd. So the solution was actually buy more product from the store. They actually did not have the workboot my husband was after ( was told to go pick it up from Abbotsford after trekking from Vancouver to Langley already). Would not do business with this company, particularly this store again. read more

My boyfriend was in there this afternoon and was assisted by a women who would not give him what he asked for. He has fairly wide feet and wanted to try on a wider boot. The women kept telling him that a wider boot wouldn't fix the problem. She continued to deny him of trying on the wider size. She was trying persuade him to a boot he knew wouldn't work because he's always had trouble with narrow boots as he has quite wide feet. He eventually got helped by a younger guy who found the exact pair of shoes that he wanted. The younger guy was super helpful and friendly and listened to everything he wanted. My boyfriend was relieved to have his service instead, as he was bringing out the exact boots my boyfriend was originally asking for. Her service was argumentative and opinionated. That is not what we call customer service. She was a nice enough person but she is too opinionated and needs to learn how to listen to the needs of a customer. read more
