This store goes way beyond just selling running shoes. While footwear is clearly their main focus,…read morethey also stock all the extras that runners actually need, ranging from arch supports to moisture-wicking gear to even post-workout shoe odor remover. It's a one-stop shop for training and recovery. What really makes it stand out, though, is the staff... They're not just friendly, but actually know their stuff. They'll watch your running stride right in the store (tread mill) and recommend the best shoe for your running style, all at no extra cost, in the name of friendly service. It feels more like being helped by a coach than just a salesperson. If you're serious about running, training, or even just taking a Sunday stroll, this is the kind of place that makes you feel set up for success.

They'll be slick and give you these black socks to try on, and then charge you at the end unless you say no. They'll charge you $150 for orthotic type inner soles at the end too without telling you the price upfront. I had to tell them no to everything. I can get my own custom made orthotics for nothing. The salesperson did say that my orthotics from them can get reimbursed through insurance. If that's true, great if not, we have a problem if she gives out false information to customers. They FORCE the VIP club down your throat, it's disgusting. I would not come here again.

Considering Bakers' generous window, I am surprised I haven't been found stuck to it, fogging up the glass with my slack-jawed stare of awe. Like most shoe stores, Bakers is typically packed with girls and women of varying ages, all fawning over the ankle-breaking heels. Like ALDO on the other side of the mall, the sales associates here are very sweet and accomodating, doing whatever it takes to find your size and please you. I'm sure commission may play a part in it, but if it does, you wouldn't know it as they never put The Sell on you to make a purchase, or spend more than intended. The great customer service was especially noted when I stopped in this weekend with a Frankenfoot - aka a huge medical boot - strapped to my left leg. Determined, I picked out lovely 5.5" stilettos and teetered around the store on just one, as the left foot is currently out of the equation. Not only was my associate helpful, she never asked intrusive questions or made fun of me, or ask why I was buying shoes when I am so clearly unable to wear them. She even searched for a new pair for me, as the one I'd received to try on had several marks on the material which we hadn't noticed before. I then decided to try on another pair at the last second, of which I ended up needing a different size of. No problem! When I went to check out, instead of assuming I wanted both (which I did), she never pushed me, and let me decide on my own and inform her of my choice. The entire process was painless, and made me even more of a loyal Bakers customer.

After having a not so great experience at another local shoe repair place that's not really a shoe…read morerepair place but rather a shoe store trying to get you to not repair your shoe & spend double the price on new shoes, I decided to drive a little further & find a real shoe repair place. This place was the 1 that popped up with the best reviews. Indeed it is a tiny hole in the wall joint. It is very easy to miss. It's literally a little house next to the TD bank that's right next to Vito's pizza. You walk in & immediately the smell of rubber & shoe polish slaps you in the face. Eventually an old little man comes to to help you. He's very short & direct with his customer services skills but looks like he knows what he's doing from the wear & tear on his hands & face. I hand him my $300 boots from a couple seasons ago that I love & tell him I want to resole them & shine them up. Basically make them look new again bc all the salt & snow from last year really did a number on the soles. He looks them over & tells me, "It's going to cost a lot." I ask how much & he tells me $45. I tell him these are good, expensive boots that are worth it. You have to leave 50% deposit on your job. I decided to pay the full amount & that way I can just pick them up when I come back next week for them. I'll finish up my review next week when I pick them up & report on the work it self. But I'm sure it will be quite promising as these mom&pop places are always the best at doing these jobs. ******** As expected, my boots look good as new. Nicely shined with we soles that will last me another season. Thank you!!
