After another day of exploring and hiking, my husband and I decided to order takeout pizza from red tomato pies. We were exhausted, so we wanted to be able to enjoy the pizza from the comfort of our Airbnb. We placed a takeout order for one New Yorker and one House Pie, as well as a Caesar salad. While we waited, we ended up walking to a local brewery, but that is a different review. Once our food was ready, we took it back to our Airbnb to enjoy. The pizza was tasty and definitely hit the spot after a day of long, strenuous, hiking. The salad was pretty nondescript . We were staying the night in Golden on our way from Vancouver Island to Edmonton. Lots of great options for dinner in this town but when Red Tomato Pies come up on our web search, we thought "why not?" We haven't had takeout pizza for a while. What a great decision! Simply put, this was the best pizza we've had in decades!!! Including the years we lived in Vancouver, including the pizzas I make myself (which are pretty darn good!). The first indication of the pizza quality was the sheer weight if the box, it was much heavier than what we're used to with other takeout pizza. And then when we sat down and opened the box: wow! The pieces were thick! And not just all crust, either, it was loaded with fresh, delicious ingredients. We ordered the "Maui Wowie" which was an amazing blend of meats and cheese and pineapple. Excellent and friendly service. Fresh food made to order, and all of it delicious. I got the baked pasta and my partner got the chicken pesto pizza; both of us thoroughly enjoyed our food. Needed a quick dinner and this place had great reviews. We tried the Loaded Baked Potato and Carnivore. 14" of pizza for $25. We got stuffed crust for the Carnivore one - interestingly this really changed the dough. The dough on the Potato one stiffer and chewier (more like a flatbread), the dough on the Carnivore was soft - a need 2 hands to hold soft. The stuffed crust was really good. We were staying in Golden for a night and reached there around 10:20pm. We were planning to go to a 24hr joint but to our surprise, found this place open. They have a huge menu including so many options for vegetarians. We were confused what to order but finally went with Twisted Bruschetta. It was delicious and fulfilling. We had a long day of hiking and wanted something easy and quick to pick up on the way back to the house. It was easy to order online, they were ready just after the time they said they would be, and they tasted delicious! When I asked for some red pepper flakes to take with me, they kindly put some in a container for me. Would definitely recommend! read more

Always a great place in golden for a take out or delivery option of pizza even their salad is worth it price. They have dessert pizza if you're willing to try. They have gluten free pizza dough and stuff crust ( which has a lot of cheese inside). Corn meal and thin and regular crust. They have vegan and vegetarian options and a good selection of pizza to select from. I find it strange they add romaine lettuce to a Greek salad ( see photo) . And the pizza a "little" greasy but that could be because of stuff crust the other one that was not wasn't greasy. read more

Red Tomato Pies used to be my favourite pizza joint; it seems that since it got so popular, it has taken a deep downward dive. There have been changes to staff, and the home-style pizza cooked with love and care that I remember, no longer remains. I ordered the "Beef and Blue," and what was advertised as steak and blue cheese, consisted of a few meat bits, and was smothered in blue cheese dressing and hot sauce, rendering the pizza inedible. I am deeply disappointed in Red Tomato Pies, and I hope the old pies may one day return. read more

Good pie for sure! But when I picked it up and asked for parmesan cheese and red pepper packets the kid behind the counter was totally confused.....as if he'd never heard of such a thing. WTF??? Really???? A $20 pizza and they don't offer simple condiments that 90% of all other pizzerias do as a standard practice. That's like McDonalds not having ketchup!! The rudest staff we have come across in a long time, zero motivation to make the customer comfortable or provide any information. We called ahead to check if they were open. One we reached and started placing order, the lady taking it was really rude. When we went back after 20 mins to pick up the pizza, they gave us one less pie. Also, when we asked for red chilli flakes, she told us those are very small size and $1 per packet. Hence we asked her for 6 of them as we were a group of 6 people. She then handed us 6 large fully loaded packets, which would be enough for a whole month for us. When we asked her to take some back, she refused. We called the manager who was when more rude, if that was when possible! She said it's Canada law to not take back anything that's placed on the counter for the customer. We had only touched one of the packets and were asking to return the untouched ones, yet she wouldn't take it back and was extremely rude to us. Ordered online well in advance and got confirmation that the order was received. We show up to pick our pizza up and the store is deserted. Tried to call and got nothing. If you're so short staffed that nobody can even physically be at your store you have no business accepting orders. At the very least somebody should be contacting us to let us know our order will not be made, so we had time to make a backup plan. Now it is late, things are closing and/or busy. This was one (actually two) of the best pizzas me and my family have ever eaten. We tried it on the advice of a local shop keeper. Ordered online and it went flawlessly. The carnivore pizza was loaded with delicious meats, the sausage was particularly good. Our other pie was the veggie with pepperoni added. Both were in a pan fried crust, which was amazing. Had a quick stop in Golden and this pie spot does not disappoint. We ordered the Luau. It was great. The toppings were fresh (tender pulled pork, juicy pineapple), the crust was crusty (perfect), and the taste was satisfying. Their hours are varied; calling ahead is recommended. For my 50th!! review, happy to report on Red Tomato Pie. Yummy cornmeal crusted pizza - eaten outdoors in Spirit Plaza in tiny Golden, BC, after an afternoon rafting? Perfection. The pizzas were made to order and ready about 20" after we walked in. There's a small window-facing bar with a few seats, but if the weather's nice, better to get your pie to go and enjoy the incredible mountain vistas. Not sure if it's the only pizza place in town, but why bother to look for another when Red Tomato is sooo good! It looked like lots of locals were pulling up to pick up their pizzas after either a soccer game or swim practice...and that says a lot for me. read more
