I tried this place on a Saturday morning at around 8. The place was completely packed. It took about 15 mins to get seated though. I like the the menu options and the prices were great. I chose the pancakes and two sides. The pancakes were very large and they were decent. The sausages were slightly cold though. They also did not look very appealing. I however ate them regardless. The eggs were good too. So the food was not anything to write home about, but the price was very good. Coffee tasted ok as well. That's why I give it 3 stars. Not sure why this place is so busy. I ordered a salad as a side & it was full of rotten greens. My lunch companion ordered biscuits & gravy. Gracie was my server today and she was very attentive and sweet. She made several trips back to the table and kept my sweet tea glass filled, even offered to get me one to go. The chicken and dressing was really delicious and moist. Both the broccoli and rice casserole and squash casserole was amazing. The rolls was fresh along with the cranberry sauce. I just called the restaurant was clean and they servers was working there butts off. We were pretty excited about eating here. Got there, ordered and got our coffee. Twenty minutes later, place was filling up, no food. Our server came over and let us know that there was a computer glitch and that the orders were not being transmitted to the kitchen. OK, things happen but, the kitchen staff is literally standing two feet behind the cash register.... you would think if they were not getting any orders through that they might ask what is going on. You raised your egg prices because Waffle House did, but when they lowered their prices you did not follow them?? We were hoping to get a good southern breakfast, since our previous attempts had been pretty mediocre. My friend wanted to find a place where locals went, and he surely did that. The place is like a sort-of diner in a strip mall. Lots of families eating, which is nice. The service was nice as well. I wish Red Rooster was closer. It's a hidden gem tucked away at the far end of Hendersonville. I've eaten there a handful of times but not as much as I would like. I live in Gallatin, so it's somewhat of a haul. However every time I go, I have a wonderful experience. This time around, my dear friend & his family were driving through Tennessee to Georgia from Oklahoma. We collaborated on meeting somewhere for breakfast. I gave him a few options and surprisingly, he asked if we could go to Red Rooster instead (we met up a few years back). I was surprised he remembered it but he said he doesn't forget a good meal. So yes, Red Rooster is good. Now, I've never been here for lunch, only breakfast. There was no wait at all and they were able to seat 7 of us with no problem. The breakfasts here are very affordable and they have a nice selection of food. My family opted for Red Rooster Special (for me), which includes three eggs (any style), choice of country ham, city ham, chopped steak, bacon, sausage, country fried steak, or bologna. Served with hash browns or home fries, biscuit & gravy or toast & grits. My kids split an Early Bird Special (two eggs (any style), choice of bacon, sausage, or city ham, biscuit & gravy or toast & grits. AND Hashbrowns or Home Fries) and a triple stack of pancakes. If you like breakfast food, you cannot go wrong with Red Rooster. It's cheaper than your chain restaurants, you're supporting a local business, and it's as good as you can get anywhere. Successful service industry policies are clearly foreign to this business owner. I ordered an omelet and asked to have them hold the sausage but add jalapeño in its place, I was told they can leave items out (that you still pay for), but cannot substitute for anything else without an up-charge. I told them to hold the biscuits and gravy/toast and grits that came with my omelet, and asked for sliced tomatoes instead. Again, I was told no, unless I wanted to pay for the side of tomatoes. I asked about a discount for the items I didn't want... I got a blank stare back. In essence, you pay for items you don't want and then pay extra for what you do want. They were keeping the sausage that I had to pay for, and they wanted me to pay extra for some slices of jalapeño. The cheese on the omelet was the processed plastic American cheese, that has no flavor. The omelet wasn't fluffy, but rather a flat pancake of egg in a tri-fold shape. With prepared food prices so high, I won't spend my money in an establishment where policies don't permit catering to the customers requests to keep them satisfied and coming back. If I opened a restaurant within a 5 mile radius of this one, the Red Rooster would be out of business in 6 months! read more

Food didn't arrive on time - and server actually forgot to put in some of the items we ordered. Not a terrible thing, except the restaurant was basically empty, and we had littles that were very hungry. To top it off, we watched a mouse (or rat) scurry across the floor. I wished I had taken a picture of my food! It looked as good as it tasted, but it looked so good and I was so hungry... I ate it and the picture became an afterthought lol. They are open currently from 7am until 2pm. They serve breakfast and lunch (brunch) during that time. The atmosphere is friendly/neighborly. The staff is also very friendly!
