Our stay in this facility, along with one at another Red Roof the night before, have convinced us to reluctantly give up on the Red Roof brand we have preferred in our travels for many years. I am sure there are plenty of branches in the chain that would live up to our expectations, but these two did not, so the chain is no longer reliable enough to count on. The older couple on duty when we checked in were fine. Especially the wife, who is obviously the brains of the operation when they are working, and who is helpful and pleasant. We got our room key (only one key card for two of us, oddly enough), but when we stepped into the room we were knocked back by the small of cigarettes. I am sure cigarette smells are difficult to eradicate from a room, but I am not convinced any effort had been made in this case. So I went back to the front desk and the woman helpfully grabbed her master key and we went in search of a suitable room. The first one we checked was having ceiling work done, she remembered, and the next one turned out to be occupied, so we tried a third room and I didn't smell cigarette, so that was the winner. We settled in. There were a couple of small issues right out of the gate, such as there being no coffeemaker. You know, those tiny one-cup things hotels seem to use nowadays? We don't make dreadful coffee with them, but they are handier than using a microwave to heat water to make our own hot drinks. Also, the toilet didn't flush efficiently, so a second flush was often required to get the job done. But later in the evening a worse problem evolved: a multiple dripping water leak from the ceiling near the interior door to the hallway. It was dripping in three places and the plaster looked like it had been repaired already for such a leak previously. I went down to the lobby and the old gentleman was there. He asked if we wanted a new room because maintenance wouldn't be able to look at it until the next morning. I said we could live with it if it didn't get worse as it was not in our living space but just next to the door. I asked if they wanted to look at it and maybe put a bucket down. Plus I suspected it was related to a shower being taken and they could see exactly where it was leaking. But he just asked a couple more times if we wanted a new room, so I figured we had reached the end of our conversation. I reiterated that we were fine and went back to the room. Later on the drip stopped, as I had surmised it would. I think the woman would have wanted to do more, but who knows? So this wasn't a tragedy for just one night, but as I said, it feels like the Red Roof brand is not up to the standard when we started using it when we traveled with pets many years ago. read more

This hotel was dark, dirty, and run down. And that's just the exterior in lobby. Thankfully, I did not experience any of the actual rooms because they had a water pipe burst and didn't have any rooms available. The man at the front desk apologized and said I would get a full refund. However, when I called the company to request my refund, they did not want to give it to me. And in fact, tried to accuse me of never showing up for my reservation. So I am currently battling to get my money back. read more

I have to measure my opinion about this location with two factors: The cost of the room, and my experience with other cut-rate hotels. Yes, when I travel, I travel cheap. But the less-expensive hotels in the FDBG-Quantico area have devolved into a mush of foul-smelling rooms with broken equipment, Not so with this property. My room was clean, comfortable, and the refrigerator and microwave worked. This is not the norm with rooms at this price. I recommend this property for good location, clean room at a decent price, and close proximity to restaurants, gas, and the interstate. read more

If I could give this hotel no stars I would because that's exactly what they deserve. Dirtiest hotel I've ever seen. They do not thoroughly clean the rooms. We complained and got our room switched twice before we just settled out of desperation. The rooms have a heavy smoke smell even though they are said to be "no smoking." The bottom rooms all had cracks in the door where bugs could get in the room. Found a cobweb beside the lamp, not even in the corner of the room. And a bug was in the cobweb. It also appears as some left over food pieces were left behind the bed. They are nasty with sh*tty service. Definitely do not recommend! read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. I paid in advance for over a week they don't even give you any type of discount for you lengthy stay. I had an outside chair on the balcony for over a week and received a phone call about how their property chair should not be outside. When I corrected them and said it was my personal chair all of a sudden it's not allowed out there either when I first checked in this was not something discussed. Have no problem taking my over $600 for 2 week stay but complaining about chair meant for outside. This property was turned into non smoke but people in here smoking heavily the property manager tell me about curb appeal. You can't even see the property behind buildings and trees and you don't want you guest to think this is a good place because people stay here a while. And the only reason she even had her staff contact me because she wanted to be able to take pictures for the remolded front that they only slapped paint on and added some new furniture. I will never stay another night at this particular property the one in Falmouth is so much better. I spent a lot of money at this hotel to not be able to have a outside chair on the outside porch. I usually only prefer to go to the Redroof because they are pet friendly but most definitely look to taking my money and business else where. Hopefully all the people I recommended her throughout the years will take their business else where as well. They don't even provide anything to allow you to enjoy their balcony. I'm glad they prefer the abandon look they been having for years. read more

Terrible. I came to the area to run a race. All I needed was a bed and shower. It was what I expected for cleanliness, but I had no hot water, the smoke detector was unplugged from the ceiling and the battery was dead. Upon checkout, there was a line of people waiting and a phone ringing and no one working. I would not stay here again and would not recommend anyone else does either. I would give this place zero stars if able. It is truly foul. We didn't stay--we immediately asked for a refund and booked at another (clean) Red Roof a half hour further north. I took photos to prove to the manager that this room was an absolute dump. I was never allowed to speak with the General Manager. The agent at the desk refused to let me speak to him--he actually proceeded to yell that "you don't talk to him, I talk to him!" And then when I told him not to raise his voice to me, he said it was just because he didn't think I could hear him through the plexiglass window. After telling him that the issue wasn't just a refund, but rather that the place was dirty to the point of a health concern, he started yelling louder and threatened to call the police. We got our room around 9:30pm and were exhausted so we just put our bags down and got in the bed. The pillows appeared dirty but we didn't say anything we just took them off the bed, we were way too sleepy for that crap. Well this morning we wake up and of course now that daylight is out we can see everything. Not only did we find bottles of empty alcohol Under the bed & we found ashes in the bathroom and can't even trust that they gave us clean towels and washcloths to wash with. When we called the front desk to tell them that their room was dirty the attendant tried to dismiss it by telling us we should have complained last night. We did not come into our room thinking "oh let's check for alcohol bottles under the bed, and question if the sheets have been changed on this made up bed" .... They then went to tell us that people who get rooms through hotel.com usually don't show up on housekeeping so it's safe to assume that anyone who books through a deal is probably getting a used unclean room. I'm disgusted and annoyed. read more

Unless you are super desperate, don't stay here... Its dirty, smelly and the night desk clerk, Khalid, is an ass weasel. I got charged double and I'm still trying to get the matter resolved with my bank. Not sure if my bank messed up or if it was indeed the hotel, but I have never had this happen to me and I stay at hotels all the time. Either way, there are plenty of other places to stay in this area. Even if the money issue wasn't on their end, Khalid was very confrontational about it and the night was full of the sounds of people screaming. I will never stay here again! read more

Worst hotel experience. Normally I suck it up and not complain about stuff but after driving 19 hours, we just wanted a CLEAN shower and CLEAN bed to sleep in. Not what we got. There was hair all over the place..in the shower, on the towels, nail clipping on the floor by the bed. Yet the head housekeeper "inspected" the room prior to us checking in. I don't think this staff, to include the General Manager Steve, knows the first thing about customer service. They gave me the run around and basically tried to tell me I was lying about the fact that my room was dirty. I requested a refund waited hours for the GM to call me back. When I finally spoke to him, not apology and still tried to act like I was lying. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. These people suck dick. read more

Needed an inexpensive room to stay in while finalizing my move back to the area so decided to give the Red Roof Inn a try. The Reservation rep helped me to get the best rate possible, rate which consisted of signing up for their rewards program(Redi Card).This actually made my nightly rate cheaper than the motel 6 next door and my room is 10x nicer. I will also receive a free night when I reach 7,000 points, which is also a huge benefit being that I'll be in a hotel for at least the next couple weeks. The staff is amazing, I mean everyone from housekeeping to front desk, even the security guard is extremely pleasant. The property is 100% pet friendly meaning pets stay free and I was even given a bottle of water for the dog at check in. I'm a hotel snob so in general I stay away from cheap hotels and motels. So This has been a pleasant surprise all around, and you can't beat the price. I've got the cheapest rate in the area and My room is nicer than the $80 room up the street. Each room has a balcony or patio so it makes it easy and comfortable to smoke, and the room is very spacious. My only complaint is the bathroom is always real cold, a heat lamp would be nice, other than that I highly recommend. The property is just a few years old so everything is fairly new and clean. Best value for the money in the whole area. My daily rate averages $50 with tax. With the weekly rate averaging down to $48 a night. Khalid, Ken and Obie are great consistently making sure I gave all I need. A Must try especially for dog owners! read more

We were heading down to Florida from New York & I needed to find a place to stop and pull over. We check the Trivago website and had some difficulties so just called hotel.com to help us with booking a place. Since we were traveling with two dogs we only had a few options and they put us at the red roof Inn. We asked for a king-size non-smoking room but as we walked into the hallway the entire hallway smelled like somebody was smoking in it. When we walked into the room, it also smelled like smoke and it didn't matter where you went, the place just reeked. We spent the entire night smelling smoke. Even though the hotel reeked of the smell of marijuana, we were charged a $100 "property destruction fee" for smoking outside of the room. We never smoked indoors. When we contacted the manager, he was belligerent and his response was, "I could charge you $250". He was dishonest and said that they found burn marks in the furniture that didn't exist before we checked in and after we checked out. My husband and I broke down and Interstate Towing I believe, called around for us to find a pet friendly motel. It's a nice room with a fridge and microwave and coffee pot and a hair dryer. The bed is very comfortable. We have to stay another night or longer. We are on the 2nd floor with a balcony. We love it and would stay here again. We highly recommend it. read more

This is ABSOLUTELY THE WORST PLACE I EVER ENCOUNTERED!! I had planned to stay a couple weeks and I got hasseled everyday about housekeeping . I told them with my schedule I got lil sleep and didn't want to be disturbed on certain days. I got hassled by management and they stated it was mandatory to come in for housekeeping EVERYDAY!! There was ABSOLUTELY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE ! I felt like they was 100% against any type of accommodating guest in any regard. THE TOILET STAYED BACKED UP AND ROACHES WAS CONSTANTLY SEEN. the phone in room only rung in from the front desk . The hotel key had to be reprogrammed sometimes twice a day. The heater / AC unit was somehow programmed to their choice cuz it would only work to certain time and temp . The staff except one young lady was absolutely nasty and rude . Stayed for a few days the room was pretty clean. House keeping was always on point. I have to say the girl at the front desk named Kelly is absolutely amazing. She made sure we had everything we needed each time I seen her. I have never had such wonderful customer service at any hotel. AVOID AT ALL COST. I'd been driving and just needed a place to stay. A low rate showed on line, but wouldn't let me book. There were two rooms. I went in the first one. A roach ran across in front of me. The desk person happened to be there because she brought back my driver's license. I hadn't even gotten my things in, yet. I asked bugs were a problem in the hotel. She said no, just sometimes they come in from the back doors to the rooms. She gave me the other room. I went through, brought in my stuff. Went out and walked my dog. Came in and used the bathroom.When I came out, another roach ran across in front of me and under the bed. I grabbed my stuff and ran out, drove around front. By now I was tired, shaking and totally rattled. Asked for a refund. Was told no. She would have to call the manager. She said she did, and would charge $20 because I was there half an hour and they would have to clean the room. By then I was sobbing. She wanted me gone so she said they would keep $10. Handed me $60 of the $72.60 I had paid. I left. The property was not clean, dirt with tree stumps outside the back doors to the rooms. Groups of people who seemed to live there gathered outside. I could hear the people in the next room. I bring my own pillow and a cover for the bed and a blanket for me. Have headphones. Don't care about much beside an okay bathroom and no bugs. Epic fail. How dare they keep money to clean the bathroom of their infested hotel. AVOID! read more
