Horrible service, horrible management, horrible lack of consistency, horrible communication, and completely abhorrent treatment of customers. (Multiple reviewers have been called liars and given the same BS line about missed trash pickups being their fault, etc.) The pennies you save are not worth it. We recently cancelled our service (in the greater Nashville area) due to poor trash pick-up service and poor customer service. We had switched to RR when they began servicing our neighborhood because it saved us $15 per quarter. We figured trash pick-up is trash pick-up, and we didn't see any sense paying more for this kind of service. Boy were we wrong. We ultimately cancelled because our trash was not picked up the week of Memorial Day... and then when it was picked up the following week (and we had 2 weeks of trash overflowing out of the trash can), they only took what was in the can. I don't necessarily have an issue with them having a policy of only taking what is in the can (although their competitors are happy to take extra trash sitting outside of the can), but I found it a bit outrageous they wouldn't take the extra trash when they didn't come the week before. Calling their office is impossible. They do not answer the phone, and they do not return calls promptly (if they return them at all). I even called and left messages with folks at their corporate office since those numbers are online, but none of them returned my call. I emailed our local office and finally got a reply that way, but it was full of excuses instead of taking any responsibility for the issues we were facing. We had already decided a while back that we would cancel our service if we ran into any more issues, as we'd experienced missed pickups in the past. In those cases, we were at least able to finally talk to someone and get a credit on our account for the missed service. In this case, they made no such offer and informed me that we had a good driver on our route, that he said the can wasn't out there in the first week, and that they didn't have to pick up the extra trash in the second week. This is NOT how you take care of your customers. I responded that we wanted to cancel and receive a refund for the 2 weeks we didn't receive service in full, plus the 3 remaining weeks on our account that we had pre-paid for. I was told they do not issue refunds. WHAT?! I have never encountered any service provider who does not refund the amount you pre-paid if you cancel early. We had signed no contract. There was no written documentation on their website or provided to us that indicates they don't issue refunds. Ultimately, I disputed it with our credit card company, so we got our money back. However, it's just another example of RR's poor customer service and the lack of their interest in doing the right thing. While they confirmed our cancellation, they refused to tell me a day that the cart would be picked up. I was told it'd be sometime in 7-10 business days. I found this a little absurd as well, but whatever. Lo and behold, 10 business days passed (our cart sitting outside and violating our HOA rules the whole time, not that RR cared when I told them that would be the case) and they didn't pick it up. This time my husband emailed and said we expected it picked up immediately, and miraculously several different people responded and the cart was removed that day. On top of all of this, they do not communicate with their customers at all. Does your pickup day fall on a holiday? Well, you just have to guess/hope for the best that it will be picked up that week. In some cases, they still come on the holiday. In some cases, they bump you to be picked up on Saturday. (With us having a Monday pickup, this was ridiculous, as it meant going almost 2 weeks without pickup, and then having 2 pickups within 2 days. Their competitors simply bump everyone by one day when there is a holiday, which makes so much more sense.) Regardless of how they handle the holiday, you won't know because they don't send any emails or mail about it, they don't put the information on their website, they don't leave a note the week before on your cart... all things that their competitors do. We have switched to a competitor and are more than happy to pay a bit more for a company that 1) communicates what to expect to their customers, especially when there is a holiday, 2) is willing to pick up if you have a little extra trash outside of your can (within reason, of course), 3) answers their phone and works to keep their customers satisfied, and 4) actually picks up your trash and doesn't argue with you about it if there is an issue. I'm not sure why it doesn't seem like they care that customers are unhappy (as evidenced by the many, many poor reviews online as well as the personal experience we had). If they going to keep conducting business this way, then all I can say is that if you have a choice, DO NOT USE THEM! read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are terrible. They missed my pick up on Monday. I called to make sure it wasn't an issue with my bill. Was told that missed pickups are on Tuesday or Thursday. I've called every single day for a week, I've even called the Vice President. Spoke to his assistant who said she would have someone call me or she would call me back. No one has called. The only person who answers the phone is billing. I called the scheduling/missed pickup department again today(Monday) and left a message for them to please make sure my trash was picked up today. Again... no one picked up my trash today! THIS IS THE WORST SERVICE! Wish I could deliver my trash to the front door of their office! Wouldn't blame anyone who did. read more

Doing some home renovation work... painting, back splash, etc. Bought a new washing machine, put the box with the Styrofoam upper and lower pieces next to my trash can for pick up. The (always pissed off driver) grabs my trash can, but leaves the dishwasher box. I get in my truck to ask him why he left my box. He tells me he wont pick up unsecured trash. As I am looking at 2 mattresses, a lamp and pallet pieces in the back of his garbage truck. I inquire how those previously mentioned objects were collected if they weren't secured? I have really tried with this company, and been quite patient. Last year there was over a month where they didn't pick up our recycling. After speaking several times to customer services and being told I would be refunded for the recycling fees I wasn't. Recycling schedule seems to be all over the place. It's every other week, but I saw the truck speed through our neighborhood last week, and though I rushed out to put it out and tried to wave the guy down, I didn't catch him. Fast-forward to today: we put both bins out - hoping they would be coming by to pick up our overflowing recycling bin today (our trash literally had one bag in it.) I am sitting in my office, and just watched out the window as the trash truck proceeded to dump BOTH my trash AND RECYCLING into the same bin. Speechless. I get it, this is first world problems. But it's really not. I'm a native Californian and am big on recycling. I am very intentional about it. So when moving here 4 years ago - not only was it foreign to me to have to pay for my recycling pickup, but we have a separate glass bin that we take up the street on our own. I really have been patient with this company, but if you are an avid about recycling like we are - I suggest going with another company - as I will. read more

Well, today was the final straw. I've had several instances where the company simply hasn't come out to pick up the trash, and I've been meaning to switch to Hudgins for awhile now, but today's incident and the customer service (or lack thereof) definitely served as a catalyst for the cancellation of this terrible service. I had completed some yard work this week, and in addition to my normal trash, I had two yard waste bags that needed to be picked up. When I walked outside, I saw that the first yard waste bag was taken, but the second was broken open and poured all over the sidewalk. I was home during this incident, and the driver didn't even bother to knock on my door to let me know what had occurred. When I mentioned this to the manager at regional office, he told me that it wasn't the driver's job to let me know, and that this action was perfectly acceptable because they don't accept yard waste. He then got an attitude, and said that it was in the paper agreement I had received. I have literally never received any mail or paper from Red River. After I found the yard waste all over the sidewalk, I called the office simply to get the situation handled, and Moreshia told me she was contact dispatch and have them come back to my house to fix the issue. Well I'm part of an HOA, so I decided to clean the mess myself and that all the driver would have to do was empty the trash can an additional time. Here's the kicker: the driver never came back out. Moreshia knew that this would be the case, according to the manager I spoke with later, but I guess neither party felt it was necessary to give me a call and let me know that. Currently I'm "on hold" with this worthless manager, who had the nerve to cut me off mid-sentence to do so. When I informed him that this was the reason there were so many negative reviews online and that I'd be writing my own, he said you go ahead, but make sure to include that there was yard waste, as if that was pertinent information and made me at fault for the entire day's events. Update: Wonda picked up the phone and was surprised to know I was still on hold, as the manager had indicated that he was done talking to me. He told his employees that the conversation was over, after telling me he was going to place me on a brief hold. Conclusion: Service is canceled, they plan on charging me for coming out to my house today. I will dispute charges with the bank. Wish I could give 0 stars instead of 1. read more

Stay away from this company. They will not pick up the cart if you place your cans that morning before work and the neighbors lawnservice blocks when time for pick up. They will tell you they will grab them later in the week but the drivers" aka managers" say the cans weren't curbside when they come back to grab them. In reality they never came back out. They are lying and never came out. I asked their customer service if the have GPS and was told yes but because the driver run the place they just say whatever they want. So the customer service person told me to leave the trash on top of the can for the next week. So i do what i was instructed and low and behold my neighbors cans are picked up and mine sit untouched. I was a very happy S&K customer, but service has gone from great to horrible since they were acquired by Red River Waste. They have not picked up my trash for 1 week, and haven't picked up my recycling for 2 weeks. Nobody I talk to can tell me why. They just keep telling me "hopefully it will get picked up next week. Sorry we don't know more" What kind of business is this? Clearly something disastrous is going on with this company. It is Jan. 27, and Red River has only picked up my trash ONCE this month...and even then it wasn't on the scheduled day and they didn't give any warning so the backed up trash inside our house from missing us the week before wasn't out. I have called local line (and left messages when the voicemail wasn't full which is typically the case), I have emailed, called corporate, complained on places like Yelp, and even filed a complaint with the better business bureau (which I HIGHLY suggest you guys do as well). Still my trash is piled high. WKRN has done several stories on this issue, but their stories didn't include all areas impacted. I am in College Grove. Red River took over our city's contract in 2018. A lot of people have complained about missed pickups but our street only had 1 miss in 12 months. I suspect there's more going on behind the scenes with influence of the previous contract holders, but I think Red River's doing pretty good overall. And I happened to be outside today when the truck arrived, and the guys taking care of our street were very friendly, courteous and professional. Yesterday my trash can disappeared. Turns out Red River cancelled my service due to rerouting and never informed me. I am not kidding. I asked them to come pick my trash up next week to allow time for me to find another service. Amanda, apparently a supervisor, basically said that would not be convenient for Red River and told me to call another service. I told her how frustrating working with Red River has been...for the past year they have not come to pick up my trash without my having to make repeated phone calls. Weeks go by between pick-ups. It's really bizarre. Amanda told me it was just a mistake, it wasn't personal. Amanda (and all Red River employees who have been so challenging to work with) - it is CLEARLY not personal to Red River. How can a company that only has one job, one function, be SO BAD at that ONE THING. Seriously Red River Waste, how can you be so terrible at the only service you provide. By contrast, Stones River Recycling has never missed a pick and they even scamper up to my door to pick up the recycling. But they don't do trash pick up, so I got stuck with these bumkins. Red River Waste bought out the Planet Green company I had been using, and oddly at my old address there were no problems. But when I move a mile down the road they can't seem to find my trash can reliably. Also, Red River Waste is a terrible and frighening name for a trash company. Seriously that's some Silent Spring stuff there. I am in the process of cancelling my service and I will be taking my own trash (I don't generate very much anyway) to the nearby dump MYSELF. I switched to Red River because of the cost savings and for the most part have had okay service. Unfortunately, after a few missed pick ups and after trying to call them, the phone literally rang for 5 minutes then got cut off. Called back and the phone rang and rang. So looks like I will be cancelling my service and going back to my previous service. read more

Very disappointed in the service provided by RRW. Often the trash was not picked up until the next day. I had originally signed up for back door pick up and then for two weeks my trash was not picked up. I was advised when I called ( for the 4th time) that they no longer offered back door pick up. They said that they had given me notice, which I don recall receiving. After much back and forth I decided to switch services and am so glad that I did. read more
