Natural Bridge State Resort Park - Rust at the bottom of the fridge which was pointed out in the hallway!

Seems that many/most of the other reviews on this site are for the lodge or cabins--but "Natural…read moreBridge State Resort Park" is the actual park itself so that is what my review is for. I can't speak to the cabins, but as for the lodge my review is under "Hemlock Lodge" and it's a solid 4 despite a few cons. But for the park itself--a 5, hands down. A beautiful, well maintained park full of trails from easy to difficult and each with glimpses of wonderful natural beauty such as the main trail here that leads to the natural bridge. You can hike to the top of the bridge and walk it, then trek under neath it for a view of the arches, then to several overlooks to get a glimpse of it from a distance. I'd recommend doing all of the above as each is breath-taking. This area of KY has more natural arches than any place east of Utah and that doesn't get mentioned nearly enough. There's a local business on site at the park that sells passes to ride a ski lift to the top of the resort park trail where you can then trek to the natural bridge in 15 minutes or so (max) of moderate hiking. We opted for the one way pass and hiked down--a really great hike but one that is a bit more difficult and provides opportunities to slip and fall so if you're a casual at best hiker you may prefer the roundtrip lift. It's worth doing if you're up for it though, as it's a beautiful hike. Really great park in a really great location to use as a homebase to explore all of the red river gorge area which offers a lot of other great hikes and natural beauty.

There are a few loop trails above for different views, above, below, ridge side, and even up close and personal with the fat man's squeeze down from the top. The lakeside trail offers a suspension bridge, and on Saturday evenings there could be square dancing at Hoedown Island! We had three families staying at the same time and there at least two beds to spare in every room. Not to mention the three couches down stairs. The place had some of its own board games so the kids got to learn a few new games like pool, mancula, and apples to apples. There was a fire pit,hot tub, and a pretty nice grill out side. The whole place was built on a ledge that overlooked the tree filled hills of the red river gorge region . There was also a huge wrap around porch. It was cool but be careful leaning on the edge there might be a few places it's weak. Draw backs... there really weren't many. The first draw back was the place is set up a long steep stairway. It looks small until you are trying to bring your groceries and suit cases up it. Still it's not a big deal if you aren't elderly. The other draw back was the shower, it had a little mold in the corners but over all it was a spacious bathroom with towels and working facilities. We have decided we will be returning to this place and we hope it will be as great as this weekend!

I noticed they use a tennis ball with Lavender Oil for fabric softener. Lavender Oil is used to keep bed bugs away! I also noticed mattress covers wrapped in plastic. This was a red flag and unfortunately I ignored being so excited to have this opportunity. I still accepted the position not knowing how bad the bed bugs were! I moved there in August 2020 where I AGAIN picked up bed bugs. They were even in my car and the rental trailer I leased. I purchased pesticide and worked very hard to get rid of the bed bugs. I am highly sensitive and allergic to bed bugs. I was bitten inside the cabins when cleaning. I tried to come to some kind of agreement for preventative measures with Johnathon Hicks. He had my internet connection turned off then pretended he didn't. Even telling me to unplug and reboot KNOWING it was disconnected. I was 16 miles off the grind all alone with no connection. I had to drive in town to make a call to him. He told me to call their advocate Sharon Keefe to talk the issue over regarding the bed bugs. He told me to call her that day bc she was leaving for vacation the next day. He told me to go back home and unplug to see if I would have a connection. Again, while he ALREADY knew he had it turned off. So I went back to town to call Sharon when he sent a text saying he knew Sharon already left for vacation and they hired someone else! I have NEVER known any employer who would be this cunning and DECEITFUL. Why not just tell me instead of lying and having me run around. He did it on purpose! What immaturity! I was devastated! I had to move again after uprooting my life for this job! I moved back and ever since been fighting bed bugs since August 2020! I have now lost 3 beds and couches and so much more. Jonathon Hicks has denied any issues with bed bugs and completely ignores me. I now have a visible manifestation of the bed bugs. They have spread from the basement (where my br is) to the upstairs. BEWARE of bed bugs and take preventative measures. They do not effect everyone the same. But with people like me who are very allergic are tormented by bites.

Black Bear Lodge Motel - A brown, wet substance was all over the sink - so gross

This is worst lodging experience I've ever had. The room, at first glance, doesn't look as bad as…read moreit is but the smell in the room was immediately off putting, which they must know from the odor bags hanging on the clothing rack, which do not work. The floors were dirty with a crumbled white chunky/powdery substance and trash in several spots scattered around. The layer of dust everywhere was not only gross, it had me sneezing so much. Even the thin clearly old and unclean quilt on the very uncomfortable old lumpy mattress (with no box spring) had gunk all over it. The sink was cracked and rusted, with a brown, wet substance all over the sink and countertop. The TP is awful in an industrial container and translucent thin. The walls are very thin so you can hear everything outside, even from people not trying to be loud. There's only two old super thin pillows on the bed and not even full bedding - just a thin sheet and a little blanket (not bed size). The free WiFi is a joke - there's only 1 bar which isn't enough to do anything, not even enough for the tv in the room to work. Theres no cell signal so I recommend downloading any directions/maps you need well before you're in the area. Even the lack of effort to clean the old stickers off the wall is wild. There's no staff onsite for any issues and you have to pick up/drop off your key at a coffee shop. Despite the location being near the sky lift and gorge underground, and the room having a/c and a mini fridge, the odor and lack of cleanliness/comfortability makes this is terrible place to stay that I would never, ever recommend to anyone.

We came for my birthday weekend this October and stayed at the Sunset Falls Chalet!…read more It was private and on the edge of a cliff, so we booked it immediately after seeing it. They allowed animals too, so we got to bring our dog which made her sooooo happy. The house was stocked with all the kitchen amenities you need to cook, bake, spit-roast (kidding), including a fridge and all dish-ware. There is a small grill outside, but you need to bring your own charcoal. And bring all your own cooking supplies like oil, salt + pepper. I expected the bed to be bleh, but it was genuinely extremely comfy - and I'm high maintenance about mattresses. There's extra bedding in the closets too! The hot tub was also a great add-on since there's really no place for a fire pit being on a cliff. The view was absolutely amazing also. BOOK HERE!!

The decor was as kitschy as you'd expect, but the place was wonderful. We used the hot tub daily after being assured the water was fresh and chlorinated. We used both outdoor seating areas: a cantilevered open balcony and a padded one under a tin roof. There was a mouse and maintenance was very responsive. We stayed 4 nights and brought our own food. We saw people from a distance. It felt safe and...beary cozy.

First, I want to say that I was laying here in bed so freaking relaxed and comfortable that I couldn't bring myself to roll over and get my phone but I wanted to write this review while I am in the moment. This hotel is amazing! It is so freaking cute. I am in love with it. Everything is extremely clean. The bed is so comfortable. The pillows are perfect. It has the cutest little mountainside lodge feel! The air conditioner works perfect. There's a ceiling fan and a fridge. It is perfect! And the price is killer and there is the most adorable little coffee shop bakery/store just down the street and there's a barbecue place right across the street. Tonight I sat out on my balcony and listened to the rain and the frogs and a creature was making funny sounds by the river, and a bat flew by chirping!!! It was perfect! I don't understand how anybody could rate this please anything other than five stars. The only weird little thing was that the light above my bed had to be unplugged from the wall to turn it off. Who the heck cares! That literally does not make this place anything less than still five stars! Get a room here, you will not regret it!!!! Update I slept like a baby! It was raining last night and you could hear the rain on the roof and it was so relaxing. The shower was nice and hot and great water pressure all around an absolutely excellent stay.

We stayed in the Woodpointe Cabin with my cousin and her husband and daughter. The photos on the…read morewebsite painted a much better picture of the cabin. The overall condition of the cabin was poor. There were cosmetic issues with the interior and exterior. The interior work was not done well, the floor is unlevel, the cabinets are not installed correctly and the countertop isn't level and doesn't match up in the seams. The stairs to the lower level are narrow and the first landing area is soft. The bottom floor stays extremely cold and they have space heaters in the rooms to help with the temp. The downstairs bathroom was not constructed well, the light and fan switches are outside the room and the inside, where the switches use to be, behind the door, is covered with a scrap piece of wood. The showers are extremely small and not well lite. All the walls are covered with what looks like wood panels but they don't match up well and the wood trim around the ceiling were not installed correctly. The deck outside was not like the pictures and there are a lot of decking boards that need to be replaced. The cover over the deck wasn't there as in the picture. Also, the septic tank is under the deck and every time someone flushed the toilet it smelled outside. I had an issue with the grill while we were there and called the office with no response.
