I stayed in the Black Bear Lodge... First, I want to say that I was laying here in bed so freaking relaxed and comfortable that I couldn't bring myself to roll over and get my phone but I wanted to write this review while I am in the moment. This hotel is amazing! It is so freaking cute. I am in love with it. Everything is extremely clean. The bed is so comfortable. The pillows are perfect. It has the cutest little mountainside lodge feel! The air conditioner works perfect. There's a ceiling fan and a fridge. It is perfect! And the price is killer and there is the most adorable little coffee shop bakery/store just down the street and there's a barbecue place right across the street. Tonight I sat out on my balcony and listened to the rain and the frogs and a creature was making funny sounds by the river, and a bat flew by chirping!!! It was perfect! I don't understand how anybody could rate this please anything other than five stars. The only weird little thing was that the light above my bed had to be unplugged from the wall to turn it off. Who the heck cares! That literally does not make this place anything less than still five stars! Get a room here, you will not regret it!!!! Update I slept like a baby! It was raining last night and you could hear the rain on the roof and it was so relaxing. The shower was nice and hot and great water pressure all around an absolutely excellent stay. read more

We stayed in the Woodpointe Cabin with my cousin and her husband and daughter. The photos on the website painted a much better picture of the cabin. The overall condition of the cabin was poor. There were cosmetic issues with the interior and exterior. The interior work was not done well, the floor is unlevel, the cabinets are not installed correctly and the countertop isn't level and doesn't match up in the seams. The stairs to the lower level are narrow and the first landing area is soft. The bottom floor stays extremely cold and they have space heaters in the rooms to help with the temp. The downstairs bathroom was not constructed well, the light and fan switches are outside the room and the inside, where the switches use to be, behind the door, is covered with a scrap piece of wood. The showers are extremely small and not well lite. All the walls are covered with what looks like wood panels but they don't match up well and the wood trim around the ceiling were not installed correctly. The deck outside was not like the pictures and there are a lot of decking boards that need to be replaced. The cover over the deck wasn't there as in the picture. Also, the septic tank is under the deck and every time someone flushed the toilet it smelled outside. I had an issue with the grill while we were there and called the office with no response. read more

We have rented from Scenic Cabin Rentals several times and have always had excellent experiences. The check-in process is easy and the cabins are always clean and as expected. The cabins range in locations and sizes, so can always fit the need and budget of our group. They will continue to be my choice for cabin rentals for future trips to the Red. read more

They have many great cabins in an awesome store when you check in that has booze now! For those of you that don't know not all of the red had booze. I really love the rustic feel and the places are always clean when we go there. They have many different options to choose from so we can get really large cabins when we have a lot of people or small ones when it's just us and the kids. read more

This cabin was very unsanitary. We didn't notice until later the night we arrived. There were mice droppings in every drawer in the kitchen and even a nest in the silverware drawer. There were other places of evidence in the living room. I called and left a message at the office and never received a return call. I also emailed them and there has been no communication with this place at all...NONE! The location of Mulberry Cottage was perfect and it is a cute little cottage, just not clean at all. MICE INFESTATION Our experience with Scenic Cabin Rentals was far from ideal. Where to begin... I'll start with the biggest issue. We were worried when reading the pest disclaimer while attempting to get settled. We figured at worst it was warning to be mindful of closing doors and keeping food sealed and stored. Unfortunately, we were so incredibly wrong. We stayed for two nights and quickly realized the motivation behind putting a pest disclaimer, removing liability from the rental agency when they are well aware of the severity of the pest issue (multiple sonic pest traps/deterrents in each room indicated this). To paint a chilling picture of our experience, we could hardly go 5 minutes without seeing a mouse each night after dark. There were multiple mice spotted in the bedroom and kitchen area, which makes me think the STAR GAP cabin (and likely others) had a mouse population greater than 10. It was so bad that we witnessed a mouse crawl out from behind the control panel on the stove. We likely only got a collective 8 hours of sleep out of fear that mice would make their way into the sleeping quarters (see photo). TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE: We informed the rental agency of the nightmare of a situation and our concerns for other paying customers being exposed to this unsanitary environment. And we were told, in an uncaring/unkind fashion, "It's a cabin in the woods, we expect there to be mice." Attached is a photo of mouse feces we found ON OUR PILLOW... My whole experience with scenic cabin rentals was a nightmare. First of all, and they can't really control this but I'm putting it out there, when you put this into the GPS, it takes you somewhere completely different a mile down the road. Even if you typed in the actual address. Don't ask me how, I have no idea. We were coming on a Friday night after dark so that made it even harder. When we finally did fine the right spot they put our key next to the door in an unsecured mailbox. That didn't sit ok with me because it had my friends information on it and anyone could've just taken it. After we got the key we could then not find Black Bear Lodge because it was on an unmarked street and the sign was knocked over. From the outside the cabin looks fine, smaller than I thought it would be. There's a place to grill and a place for a fire pit with picnic tables. When we got into the room it was soooo small. It also smelled so gross. The blankets and pillows were so musty, thank god we brought our own. To top it off there were bugs crawling on the mattresses and pillows. It was absolutely disgusting. There was cable but no internet and absolutely no cell service. So if you come here bring something else to do. I would never ever stay here again. Absolutely disgusting. read more

Do not stay in the Majestic View Cabin! This cabin is neglected by owners. They do not do routine cleanings. Dust everywhere, horrible mildew smell. It seems like they floored the upstairs bathroom incorrectly or maybe it's rotting out, you feel like you're falling through the floor when you get out of the shower. Bees and wasps covering the outside front porch. Beds are old and have peoples hair on them. Also they make the house look huge on the pictures but there's about a 10 feet wide span of the house that is locked off to guests in between the front door and garage. Giving it a one star because the property area is nice with lots of room for parking and huge yard to play outside. Right next to the Hollerwood trailhead which is why we decided to book there. read more

I would really only give this 3.5 stars since it was overall a good experience but there were some parts we were not as impressed with. Stayed here for a getaway at the gorgeous Red River Gorge. After reserving online we were given clear instructions on how to get to the front office to obtain the key to our cabin. Along with the key we were given a piece of paper with instructions to find our cabin, which were easy to follow. We stayed at Haven at the Red. This triangular shaped cabin comes with 2 bedrooms, couch with pullout bed, 1 bathroom, and hot tub. The cabin was nice and cozy, away from society, although I was surprised that you could still hear traffic from the highway. The drive way to this cabin is SUPER STEEP and rough. You need to be super careful on the way up and down as to not drive off the side of the hill/cliff... I honestly feel that there needs to be a disclaimer on the website for this one as some cars legit may not be able to get to this cabin (we struggled with our sedan). There is a fire pit, but it is on a hill which makes it somewhat difficult to enjoy. It's hard to control that, which I completely understand, so we opted to not use it. There is a gas fireplace here as well, but when looking side there were tons of cobwebs and again opted to not use it. The place was mostly clean minus the amount of dead bugs in the living room. There is a binder on the kitchen island with suggestions for things to do and phone numbers if you need anything, and I so greatly appreciated that! There are also sheets on the fridge for assistance, and were very honest for what to expect. They mentioned that they do treat for bugs and rodents but we may see them. One day my boyfriend killed 5 wasps and also got stung. When we left there were 2 more in the cabin and we opted to let those be as it was a war we would not win. The fridge is not a full size, so be aware of that, too. The shower dripped 24/7 too, which became quite loud at night. The heating system made loud banging noises each time it turned off and on, but we became accustomed that very quickly. I don't want to be too negative, as there were a lot of positives about this cabin! There is WiFi and cable here, and password for WiFi is just right on the router. They have lots of kitchen equipment for you to use (although they only have 2 knives...) and provide hand towels and soap in the kitchen and bathroom. The bed upstairs was very comfy... and it was a memory mattress too! The hot tub was AMAZING! We literally used it daily and it was a great way to end the day and even start the day. It looked cleaned and was the perfect temperature. When we arrived to the cabin we had a minor issue with the toilet but maintenance came out right away to fix it. We stayed for two nights in the Off Belay cabin. The cabin looked great. It was just the two of us and there was more than enough room. We rode in on our motorcycle, and had requested towels when we checked in. We only received two towels. When we checked in there were dirty towels hanging on the back of the bathroom door. We had problems with ants all over the kitchen sink for the duration of our stay and we didn't even have any food in the unit. It was a weekend in the 90's and every time we came back to the cabin the automated thermostat was reset to 80. Then it would take over 2 hours to cool down back down to 72. It would also go back to 80 in the middle of the night. It is centrally located to the four major dining sites in the area. Coffee at Daniel Boone Coffee, Breakfast at Migquel's and dinner and drinks at Hop's is awesome. The underground kayaking was fun. The natural bridge is a must see. The Nada tunnel is worth the small trip to see. Make sure to make time to hike the trails in the area. This is wonderful destination spot, the locals are amazing! Our cabin was dirty, and had hair on the stove. The pictures were very generous compared to the reality. It was advertised as private with a view -- It was actually overlooking the highway. They did not have any other cabins available and would not offer any resolutions at the time of arrival or the following day. They only gave a partial refund. It put a damper on our 5th anniversary weekend. We won't be renting from them again. read more

Once settled in, we enjoyed the immaculately clean hot tub, complete with a serene view of the woods. Every kitchen appliance worked perfectly allowing us to cook immaculate and memorable meals. MICE! We rented Hickery Ridge Cabin. First impression is that it is a cute, comfy cabin with privacy. However, during our first day, we encountered MANY mice in the kitchen and bedrooms, and heard them in the walls and ceilings. They got into our food and left feces on the floors. This was clearly an issue way before we arrived. We ended up leaving and staying elsewhere the first night, and ending our trip early because of how bad it was. Do not recommend. read more

We stayed 2 nights at the Black Bear Lodge this past weekend. The ease of booking, the simplicity of check in, the price, and the interior were all high points! The room was very pretty. Wood walls, floors and ceiling beams made it feel like a cabin without the huge price tag. The beds were comfortable and each had 4 pillows. There was a nice balcony with seating. I couldn't give this place 5 stars because of a couple little issues. When I walked in the room, I noticed there was 3 tiny mouse poop on the bathroom counter (the rest of the room was VERY clean, btw) I immediately went back to check in and asked for a mouse trap. They didn't have any and asked if it would be okay if maintenance brought one in the morning. I didn't love that idea, but decided I would take my chances with a mouse and not let it ruin my weekend. We never saw a maintenance person nor a mousetrap during the 2 night/3 day stay. The bathroom door was awesome, made from heavy slatted wood, but it skreeked worse than anything I've ever heard...a little WD40 would have been helpful! The tv was very small (we didn't really care about that for this particular trip, but if you're a tv lover, this could disappoint). Would I stay here again? I would! Would I bring mousetrap and WD40 with me? You better believe it!!! read more

Checked in on Friday at 5:00pm. Arrived at cabin to find a leaking hottub, non-working fireplace, and NO HEAT!!!! Low temps in the mid-20's. Called the office and they sent a maintenance person out who spent all of 30 seconds trying to fix the heater--without success. When we reminded staff of the issues on Sunday, they were full of excuses. No offer to fix any of the issues nor did they offer any sort of refund. May need another review just to fill you in on the amount is dead flies found throughout the cabin. Never ever ever would I recommend this place to anyone. You're better off in a tent with outside temps in the teens. read more

We stayed at the Woodland Cottage with Scenic Cabin Rentals Oct 2-6. The Cottage was nice but was lacking in some cooking essentials. We went to the office and they quickly supplied our needs. The driveway was very steep and rugged. The office staff said they had contacted the owners to fix it but it had not gotten done yet. It was difficult to get our car up the driveway because of the ridges and trying not to get our car hung up on the ridge. As it is now, this should be listed for 4 wheel drive vehicles only. The location of the cottage was good and close to places we wanted to see. The bed was ok but could use a new mattress. The dust ruffle on the bed against the wall was torn and in the way so needs to be fixed. We did enjoy our time in this beautiful area. read more

We only stay in scenic cabin rentals when visiting the Gorge. We have stayed in several of their cabins with large groups, small groups and occasionally bring our dogs. We had a large group once where we needed two cabins and management was very helpful working with us to find two cabins within walking distance to each other. They are well managed, in a great area of the gorge, and provide everything you would need for a getaway. Cabins are always clean and well stocked, management is always helpful... we absolutely love our stays here. Would highly recommend Scenic Cabin Rentals! read more

My family rented a cabin form Scenic, and it was a nightmare! They never told us it was under renovations, when we get there it was a war zone. It looked liked no cleaning was done for a long time, the refridge did not work, the hot tub did not work, the bathroom was nasty, and tiles on floor were busted and sharp pieces making this very unsafe. Holes in walls for snakes, rats or whatever to come through. I had to go to the store to buy bug killing spray due to jumping spiders coming out of the closure of the closed up areas that had big caps, and cleaning supplies for the cabin. I only did this because they refused to let us out of our reservations and give us a refund so we were stuck... No place to go! Run from this place. read more

My husband and I had our first date at Natural Bridge. We thought it would be great to go back there for our honeymoon. We booked Mountain Hideaway, through Scenic Cabins. The Cabin appeared clean, was conveniently located, and reasonably priced, or so we thought. We arrived there about Midnight. We were very pleased with the cabin until we started seeing spiders in every room. Within the 2 short hours we were there, we killed at least 10 spiders. Some were poisionous, but all were significantly large. We had to leave at 2 a.m. to find a hotel on our wedding night. The manager, "Nancy", was very nice when we finally talked with her. It took us 2 days to reach her due to her being out of town at a conference. Her opinion was that the spiders were coming out due to the cabin having been sprayed a week prior to our arrival and she refunded our money with the exception of a 35.00 cleaning fee despite the incident ruining our honeymoon. I explained that in addition to the infestation the cabin was not equipt with the starters kit, (garbage bags, toilet paper, soap), as promised but the 35.00 charge was not waived. We've stayed at cabins before and know that insects are common, but this was beyond acceptable. Visit Natural Bridge, but do yourself a favor and avoid Scenic Cabins, as there are several other choices in the area. read more
