One of the most beautiful places. If you are in Kentucky, this is a must stay. Every inch is exquisitely decorated. Hours fly by sitting and watching nature. Porch swings, rocking chairs, and daybeds invite you to put your feet up and enjoy a slower pace of life. The food is fantastic, and Barbara and all the staff were fantastic and attentive. We will be back and cannot say enough good things! Pictures do not do this place justice.

This won't be a "review" as much as it will be a love letter to Snug Hollow Farm. My husband and I spent one of the nicest weekends we have ever had together at this gem of a bed and breakfast, and my only regret about doing everything I can to get the word out about this place is that I won't be able to get in the next time I want to visit. There are t-shirts in the Snug Hollow gift shop printed with the words "3-miles back on a 1-mile road" and that isn't far from the truth. Once you turn on to that 1-mile road, it stays asphalt for a few yards, then turns to gravel, then it rises and falls, winds and winds, until you think you might be lost and begin to question the sturdiness of your vehicle...then the property comes magically into view. I dislike reviews that describe something as "indescribable" or "there just aren't words..." because there are several thousand words I might use to describe this place and the challenge here, for me, is to choose the words that will help you see what I saw and want to pick up the phone and make a reservation at Snug Hollow Farm. There I was at the dentist office, of all places, trying to take my mind off my imminent torture by leafing through an issue of Southern Living Magazine. An article entitled "The South's Charming Inns" caught my eye, and right there, in full color, was my solution to a long-standing problem. I hate the holidays...absolutely can NOT stand the entire Christmas thing, beginning with black Friday weekend and ending with the inevitable post-holiday diet. I have long been looking for a way to celebrate the season (not the holiday) in a way that feels genuine to me, and a weekend away, unplugged and snuggled into a giant bed from which I can look out over acres and acres of rolling hills was exactly what I wanted. The Inn has a large main house with several bedrooms and from which all the meals are served (Snug Hollow serves full breakfasts and dinners). The fare is hearty, delicious, and vegetarian, which gave my husband only a moment's pause before he tucked in to one of the best lasagnas he has ever tasted, accompanied by fresh rosemary bread. Every dish we tasted was better than the last, and Snug Hollow makes full use of its glorious summer garden by canning vegetables and preserving herbs to use year-round. We supped the first night on pasta with lemon cream and a delightful medley of caramelized vegetables, followed by a jam cake with bourbon glaze, pomegranate seeds and freshly whipped cream. Somewhere in there was also a bean soup that was so outstanding in its simplicity and flavor that I immediately asked about the recipe. Our breakfasts included delights such as Greek yogurt and fruit compote served shortcake style, fresh eggs with crispy fried potatoes, biscuits with a vegetarian gravy (one of the best biscuits and gravy I have had in the South), and fruit pancakes with warm syrup. Luckily, Barbara Napier, the Inn's owner and my new best friend, has compiled her recipes into a cookbook that is available for sale and now lives permanently on my kitchen counter. The main house has three separate bedrooms, and there are also several charming private cabins available. I chose The Pearl in the main house, mainly because it boasted a Jacuzzi bathtub. I have never, not once, walked into a room at an inn, a B&B, a hotel - anywhere - and just cried tears of true joy and happiness...until I visited Snug Hollow. The Pearl was everything I could have wished for in a temporary hideaway from the world, from the king-sized bed covered in quilts and fluffy pillows to the porch overlooking the most magnificent view, to the smaller twin bed alcoves that made me wish I had young daughters again so that we could snuggle up together and read stories. The bathtub was deep and huge and we enjoyed the sound of laughter coming from downstairs and watched the stars come out while soaking away our stress. We hiked all over the property, were tempted into mischief by a small boat near a large pond, and were awakened the first night by a pack of playful coyotes. We listened to the coyotes playing in the moonlight and we both felt so, so lucky to be there. I'm not going to talk about the amenities like wifi and cable tv, because we didn't want them. We spent two lovely evenings reading in front of a roaring fire before turning in for the night. Everywhere you look in the main house there is something magical to see. Every nook and cranny is filled, it seemed to me, with love and comfort, books and comfy chairs, music and warmth. I didn't want to talk too loudly here. I didn't want to talk at all. I just wanted to soak in the peacefulness of this place that draws you in, hugs you, then sends you back out into the world relaxed and refreshed. Thank you, Barbara, and all the wonderful women at Snug Hollow Farm, for an absolutely perfect weekend.

Aren't we all searching for a charming place to relax, come off the grid, and just get away from it all? If you are, search no further! This B and B in the rolling hills of central Kentucky is just the ticket with its lovely rooms and cabins full of windows to view and hear the outdoors. The attention to detail (fresh flowers everywhere/ warm banana bread upon arrival) is just a small part of the cozy hospitality you receive. Because it's small, you get to know the other guests, lingering over breakfasts and dinners having great conversations. Don't let vegetarian food fool you... the meals are amazing and beautifully presented. Thank you, Barbara and Olivia! We'll be back.

Make no mistake, this is a getaway... from everything kinda place. No cell service, far from the idea of town, type of getaway that I'd been to in a long time. Don't depend on a GPS either. Listen to the directions carefully. We may or may not have gotten lost on the way up. I wasn't in charge of the planning or preparing of the directions this trip, just getting that out there. This was my second B&B experience and I must say that after my first experience at another B&B, I'm surprised that I entertained the idea of trying again. I did, and I'm glad. Snug Hollow not only has the main house that houses the meals and several rooms, there is also the original house that was the first one built over 100 years ago on the property. I went in it and it is immaculate. There are also two other cabins separate from the B&B. We stayed at the Cabin By the Creek. Which is a private cabin... meaning there aren't several rooms like there are in the main house that hosts the meals. We checked in a few hours earlier than the actual check in. When we arrived we were greeted by Barbara, the owner and a true example of southern hospitality. People probably come there and pay to stay, just to have a conversation with her, she's really that great. She drove us to the Cabin By the Creek on a golf cart. At first we thought it would be far away from the actual B&B and where we would park our vehicle, but it wasn't really that far. The cabin wasn't visible from the B&B but was within a very short walk. There was a pond behind the cabin and a hammock that I dreamt about as soon as I got home. We didn't do much walking, but there are several hundred acres to explore. So bring comfortable walking shoes or boots. One of my favorite parts about the experience was that all of the food was vegetarian. If you've ever been curious about vegetarian food or think you're convinced that there isn't anything you'd like, I highly recommend that you pay the extra fee and eat lunch or dinner. We chose the dinner, it was $30 per person but worth not having to head back out to town or cook something myself. Not to mention that everything was scrumptious. The first thing my husband asked was "what's for dinner?" We had no clue what it was until we arrived back to the B&B at 6:30. I told Barbara about my slight allergy to tomatoes and she made me a homemade pizza with pesto... I'm serious when I say that it was the best pizza I've ever eaten. The crust was indescribable, like the best bread that you've ever had, laid out and topped with things that taste so good that you wouldn't know that they were good for you too. The meal started with a bean soup and we got seconds and offered to serve as much as we wanted. It also came with a salad and finished with a chocolate pie and ice cream. After eating food that great, I left inspired to cook and prepare healthy similar foods. Barbara has a cookbook too. So, you might want to look around the room and read a bit of history in it. It tells a bit about the background of the place. I don't want to even talk about the breakfast because it makes me think about leaving. The breakfast that was just as tasty as dinner, was served at 9 and check out was at 12. Not because I wanted to, but because of obligations at home, we checked out soon after breakfast. I must not forget to mention that there are 7 people on staff there. So it's not just Barbara doing it alone. I'm sure she's awesome enough to do it, but the total package and the way it's ran, makes it perfect.

Oh my goodness, what an adorable gem!!! I spotted this place on the drive up to Red River Gorge,…read moreand am so delighted I stopped for a bite to eat. There is a big selection of drinks (frappes, hot chocolates, coffee) -- and my frozen mocha was wonderful. There have a huge assortment of gourmet chocolate bars, pastries, and cakes. YUM. Truly, so good, and not like anywhere else around for miles. It's a perfect spot to get together with friends or family. There's a play area for little toddlers, a huge back deck with brand-new furniture and plenty of well-shaded tables. The back yard would be a great event venue. Thanks, hope to be back soon!

We really enjoyed our stay here! We normally visit the Red River Gorge about once a month to climb…read more Because it was our anniversary we decided to try something a bit romantic (a bed and shower lol). We saw a flyer for the Inn posted on a board near a spot where we climb and decided to try it. We were not disappointed! The couple who own the Inn, Mai and Dustin, are very sweet, talented and welcoming. They've worked hard to create a beautiful space out of what looks like an old motel. The rooms were designed by Mai and are modern and spacious. I'm guessing the room used to be 2 motel rooms made into one suite. We stayed in the Paris room. It's quite large with a separate sitting area (where we put our gear), and a huge bathroom. The wood floors were convenient for when we came in dirty and didn't have to worry about keeping carpet clean. Also, there is a large screen tv with Roku and Sling TV so you can just click an app, put in your own password and watch what you want. The bed was comfortable and we took advantage of the jetted tub every night which felt amazing on tired feet. They also have organic soaps made by a local person that were wonderfully pleasant. And the room has a strong WiFi signal. When we arrived, Dustin and Mai greeted us with small chocolate candies. They were delicious. They live next to the Inn and are very attentive. In anticipation of breakfast, I told them about my food restrictions which they easily accommodated. Mai made the breakfasts, which were well done and generally were an egg dish, fresh fruit or yogurt with fruit, a pastry of your choice and a drink from the menu. We ate outside on the back deck (we could have also taken our food to our room) and sometimes chatted with other guests and customers. Everyone was friendly but not overly invasive. We also learned more about what Dustin and Mai have planned for the future for the Inn and it sounds very exciting. They're a lovely couple with great vision and the effort they put into their Inn shows. Oh one other thing... we casually mentioned on our second day that we were celebrating our anniversary. That evening Dustin and Mai unexpectedly popped by our room with the most delicious mousse cake. Such a sweet surprise! We had just eaten and thought we couldn't stomach anything else, but when we took our first bite we couldn't stop ourselves from devouring it. Seriously delicious!!
