It's exactly what you would picture as an outdoorsy sort of Lodge. The rooms are clean and they have balconies with excellent views. Nice size refrigerators with soft cozy beds. The breakfasts are pretty good too. Plenty of coffee. We have run in to some excellent staff here willing to direct us here or there. Will be coming back.

Veggie omelet, potatoes and a biscuit. Jelly and butter is provided

This is probably my favorite place in the red river gorge. The food is good and the atmosphere is perfect. Ive eaten here several times during both breakfast and dinner and I love it when im able to be seated by the large window wall with a great view. The veggie omelet was delicious and the kids enjoyed their biscuits and gravy and french toast. During lunch ive had the roasted chicken from the buffet a few times and its always awesome.

I'm so glad that this lodge opened. We came here to check out the sights and the trails. The staff was friendly and accommodating considering there's plenty of new rule or restrictions due to the pandemic.

I have read a lot of reviews about how this hotel needs updating & the WiFi is nonexistent. Forget that. It's a lodge in the woods. Did you go to play on your phone? If you want a nice, quiet, calm place to relax that is clean and has a wonderful view from your balcony, then this is the place. The room was very clean; everything seemed to be new and not worn out or worn down. There was a black washcloth embroidered for make up only and hanging over the tub was a hand towel folded prettily with a washcloth & shampoo in it. Look for my photos of these items. There is an outdoor pool, which is not just rectangular shaped. There were trails very close to the lodge. The staff was very friendly and helpful in guiding us to the right trail. The dining room had wonderful views & it was clean. The food that was ordered off of the menu was good. I would not suggest the salad bar or the hot food bar. (There were frog legs.) Those items seemed very dry and appeared to have been sitting there for quite some time. I did order the salad bar and not very many of the things that I tasted were good. But the southwest tilapia with corn & black bean salsa was delicious. We also had breakfast the next morning. I decided to order off the menu again, while my girls ordered the breakfast bar. One daughter was perfectly happy with her food, one was not but that's always the case with those two. This is a lovely lodge with friendly staff and decent food. It's not a high-end Marriott. It's a lodge in a state park. If it's clean and comfortable and everyone is friendly, then what more can you ask for? We were very happy with our stay at the Hemlock Lodge and would've gladly stayed one more evening, if we could have.

At least it worked very efficiently

Pros: Pet friendly rooms! Cleanliness everywhere! Nestled in a gorgeous woodsy setting Surrounded by beautiful trails Rooms have great views Meticulously clean rooms and around the facilities Staff was very friendly/great customer service Breakfast ($9.99) and dinner buffets ($ 14.99) were reasonably priced considering the views, good waitstaff service, selection & quality of food Rustic atmosphere Trails around the lodge were beautiful Reasonably priced accommodations Now the cons: Our room smelled like oregano (yes, I said Oregano) Outdated decor and amenities (although our room was super CLEAN which to me is more important) Our dogs didn't have much space to walk around (the state park does allow dogs in the trails) Summary: This place is very special! If you are a nature lover and don't care about fancy frills then this place is for you. Although the lodge was outdated, the retro decor was rustic - which makes you feel you are in a different era. Our room was very CLEAN and all the staff were so friendly. I only took one star off because our 2 dogs didn't have a big place to walk around at the lodge area and our room smelled a little funny. Overall, would love to come again and we will! ...great place! Make sure you stroll in the trails! See pics and read the pros and cons carefully to get an idea of what I'm talking about.

This Inn is part of 5-star Cabin Rental's property in Slade, KY which serves Natural Bridge /Red…read moreRiver Gorge area. We paid $68 per night, which was pretty 'cheap' considering the average 'hotels' room in general. We could not find any chain hotels nearby and We don't really care for renting expensive cabin, because we just need a room to sleep in, not a room to enjoy. So we chose this one. The office closed about 6 pm, so if you arrive late, they will drop your key in the mail box in the office to pick. The Inn itself located about 2 miles of the office and hardly any sign on the road for you to locate it. It 'can be' a nice Inn, as it's made of woods and looks 'cool', it's a 2 storey building and there are about 8 rooms there, but looks like the owner do not really care to take good care of it, the floors are dirty and there're broken glass on the ground/stairs. The room is small, equipped with a TV, a small refrigerator and a coffee maker and 2 soaps and some towels. No coffee, no coffee cups. It has bad lightning as there is no light in between 2 beds, it only has 3 lights in the room , one standing light by the window, one light in bathroom sink and one light in the bathroom. The first night we slept in, as my Son dropped his LEGO piece, I had to look under the all the sheets, only to find a huge spider crawling! If you sleep by the AC, prepared to stay up all night cause you will get too cold, but if you turn off the AC, your next party who sleep on the bed next to you will feel too hot! The cleaning service didnt make your bed, she/he only replaced the towels, and gave us new soaps. The Management also provides you with a long list of 'if you do this...then we will charge you this....'. I have never really seen a list that long! Most of the list is for the Cabin rentals, but really..renting the cabin there is not cheap, had I rented one and had to read this list, I'd be pissed! (for instance you have to take care the garbage yourself) There's a liltte motel nearby, Lil Abner, I think that's where we will stay next time.

We had three families staying at the same time and there at least two beds to spare in every room. Not to mention the three couches down stairs. The place had some of its own board games so the kids got to learn a few new games like pool, mancula, and apples to apples. There was a fire pit,hot tub, and a pretty nice grill out side. The whole place was built on a ledge that overlooked the tree filled hills of the red river gorge region . There was also a huge wrap around porch. It was cool but be careful leaning on the edge there might be a few places it's weak. Draw backs... there really weren't many. The first draw back was the place is set up a long steep stairway. It looks small until you are trying to bring your groceries and suit cases up it. Still it's not a big deal if you aren't elderly. The other draw back was the shower, it had a little mold in the corners but over all it was a spacious bathroom with towels and working facilities. We have decided we will be returning to this place and we hope it will be as great as this weekend!

While staying at Quiet Waters for an interview with Jonathan Hicks. I was asked to assist with…read morelaundry. I ended up picking up BED BUGS from either the laundry rooms or the cabin. I noticed they use a tennis ball with Lavender Oil for fabric softener. Lavender Oil is used to keep bed bugs away! I also noticed mattress covers wrapped in plastic. This was a red flag and unfortunately I ignored being so excited to have this opportunity. I still accepted the position not knowing how bad the bed bugs were! I moved there in August 2020 where I AGAIN picked up bed bugs. They were even in my car and the rental trailer I leased. I purchased pesticide and worked very hard to get rid of the bed bugs. I am highly sensitive and allergic to bed bugs. I was bitten inside the cabins when cleaning. I tried to come to some kind of agreement for preventative measures with Johnathon Hicks. He had my internet connection turned off then pretended he didn't. Even telling me to unplug and reboot KNOWING it was disconnected. I was 16 miles off the grind all alone with no connection. I had to drive in town to make a call to him. He told me to call their advocate Sharon Keefe to talk the issue over regarding the bed bugs. He told me to call her that day bc she was leaving for vacation the next day. He told me to go back home and unplug to see if I would have a connection. Again, while he ALREADY knew he had it turned off. So I went back to town to call Sharon when he sent a text saying he knew Sharon already left for vacation and they hired someone else! I have NEVER known any employer who would be this cunning and DECEITFUL. Why not just tell me instead of lying and having me run around. He did it on purpose! What immaturity! I was devastated! I had to move again after uprooting my life for this job! I moved back and ever since been fighting bed bugs since August 2020! I have now lost 3 beds and couches and so much more. Jonathon Hicks has denied any issues with bed bugs and completely ignores me. I now have a visible manifestation of the bed bugs. They have spread from the basement (where my br is) to the upstairs. BEWARE of bed bugs and take preventative measures. They do not effect everyone the same. But with people like me who are very allergic are tormented by bites.

We came for my birthday weekend this October and stayed at the Sunset Falls Chalet!…read more It was private and on the edge of a cliff, so we booked it immediately after seeing it. They allowed animals too, so we got to bring our dog which made her sooooo happy. The house was stocked with all the kitchen amenities you need to cook, bake, spit-roast (kidding), including a fridge and all dish-ware. There is a small grill outside, but you need to bring your own charcoal. And bring all your own cooking supplies like oil, salt + pepper. I expected the bed to be bleh, but it was genuinely extremely comfy - and I'm high maintenance about mattresses. There's extra bedding in the closets too! The hot tub was also a great add-on since there's really no place for a fire pit being on a cliff. The view was absolutely amazing also. BOOK HERE!!

The decor was as kitschy as you'd expect, but the place was wonderful. We used the hot tub daily after being assured the water was fresh and chlorinated. The electric fireplace made us laugh with all the color combos and it kept us warm. The kitchen has a great cookware selection and reliable appliances. We used both outdoor seating areas: a cantilevered open balcony and a padded one under a tin roof. There was a mouse and maintenance was very responsive. We stayed 4 nights and brought our own food. We saw people from a distance. It felt safe and...beary cozy.

First, I want to say that I was laying here in bed so freaking relaxed and comfortable that I couldn't bring myself to roll over and get my phone but I wanted to write this review while I am in the moment. This hotel is amazing! It is so freaking cute. I am in love with it. Everything is extremely clean. The bed is so comfortable. The pillows are perfect. It has the cutest little mountainside lodge feel! The air conditioner works perfect. There's a ceiling fan and a fridge. It is perfect! And the price is killer and there is the most adorable little coffee shop bakery/store just down the street and there's a barbecue place right across the street. Tonight I sat out on my balcony and listened to the rain and the frogs and a creature was making funny sounds by the river, and a bat flew by chirping!!! It was perfect! I don't understand how anybody could rate this please anything other than five stars. The only weird little thing was that the light above my bed had to be unplugged from the wall to turn it off. Who the heck cares! That literally does not make this place anything less than still five stars! Get a room here, you will not regret it!!!! Update I slept like a baby! It was raining last night and you could hear the rain on the roof and it was so relaxing. The shower was nice and hot and great water pressure all around an absolutely excellent stay.

The overall condition of the cabin was poor. There were cosmetic issues with the interior and exterior. The interior work was not done well, the floor is unlevel, the cabinets are not installed correctly and the countertop isn't level and doesn't match up in the seams. The stairs to the lower level are narrow and the first landing area is soft. The bottom floor stays extremely cold and they have space heaters in the rooms to help with the temp. The downstairs bathroom was not constructed well, the light and fan switches are outside the room and the inside, where the switches use to be, behind the door, is covered with a scrap piece of wood. The showers are extremely small and not well lite. All the walls are covered with what looks like wood panels but they don't match up well and the wood trim around the ceiling were not installed correctly. The deck outside was not like the pictures and there are a lot of decking boards that need to be replaced. The cover over the deck wasn't there as in the picture. Also, the septic tank is under the deck and every time someone flushed the toilet it smelled outside. I had an issue with the grill while we were there and called the office with no response.
